How we score

The Engadget Score is a unique ranking of products based on extensive independent research and analysis by our expert editorial and research teams. The Global Score is arrived at only after curating hundreds, sometimes thousands of weighted data points (such as critic and user reviews).

Engadget Summary

The TomTom GO LIVE 1535M sets itself apart from the GPS pack with a set of internet services, including access to Google, Yelp, and TripAdvisor, along with the ability to automatically tweet your location. However, these features require a $60 annual fee after the first year, and the 1535M falls flat on some basic functions, with slow satellite acquisition times, a somewhat unresponsive touchscreen, and a clunky user interface. While it includes traffic, weather, and voice commands, so do a number of other GPS units, many of which don't suffer from the 1535M's other problems.
