Unlike Toshiba's previous Windows 8 convertible laptop, this second attempt is a detachable and features an absurdly large hinge sleeve, with the small release mechanism positioned in the middle of the hinge.

The support Toshiba pledged for its latest Portege impressed us. Drivers for Windows 7 as well as a great stand accesory right out of the gate make the Z10t seem like a product with full manufacturer support.

In addition to being backlit, the Z10t’s keyboard dock–which is included with the tablet– has both a pointing stick and a touchpad, which business users will appreciate. However, it lacks an additional battery, so docked or undocked, the Z10t should get about 5.5-6 hours of battery life.

If you really want a notebook/tablet hybrid with a detachable screen, Toshiba's Portege Z10t is the best execution of that idea, at least for now.
