How we score

The Engadget Score is a unique ranking of products based on extensive independent research and analysis by our expert editorial and research teams. The Global Score is arrived at only after curating hundreds, sometimes thousands of weighted data points (such as critic and user reviews).

Engadget Review

Of Wileyfox's two inaugural smartphones, the £129 Swift is easily the star of the show. It doesn't excel in any one particular area, and it's not without its shortcomings, such as a borderline faulty micro-USB port and mediocre camera performance. The Swift is neat and distinctive in its design, however, with a bright display, more than adequate performance and a satisfactory battery life. Simply put, you're getting a lot for your money, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a better smartphone for the same price.

Pros
  • Generic design made charming
  • Easilycustomisable software
  • Bright display
  • Extremely affordable
Cons
  • Loose micro-USB port
  • Average camera

With a refreshing OS, a comfortable design, great performance, nice screen and decent battery life, the WileyFox Swift is a great budget device – but regardless of the low price, it offers a great overall smartphone experience.

Tech Advisor
For a brand-new smartphone maker's first effort, we're impressed with the Wileyfox Swift. It's a stylish little handset which offers essentially the same specs as the Moto G for less money.

Android Central
The software is slick and bloat free, the hardware is solid and nicely designed and its price is almost too cheap. The budget smartphone arena continues to get more and more interesting and you should dismiss the Wileyfox Swift at your peril.

Expert Reviews
Wileyfox's Swift is a good first effort, but it's not quite cunning enough to claim Motorola's crown.

TrustedReviews
It's a good first attempt from a new entrant to the phone market, but the Wileyfox can't quite match the best budget phones just yet.

Stuff
This mega-value fox is a great cheap phone, and almost a match for the Moto G.

Alphr
It squeezes style out of a rather simplistic design and crams a load of features into a phone that costs very little. On the other hand, Cyanogen OS features aside, there’s nothing here the similarly priced Motorola Moto G 3 doesn’t do better.

Out of the box, Wileyfox has a competent budget smartphone. For a new manufacturer with its first device, this is a smartphone it can be proud of.

The Register
With 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a removable battery, a brace of decent cameras, a good 720p IPS screen and Cyanogen OS running the show, Wileyfox could easily sell the Swift for half as much again as it is actually asking. Absurdly good value for money at £130.
