Apple has released its annual 12 Days of Gifts app, and for the first time ever, the app is available to US customers. The company's 12 Days of Gifts allows users to download one digital gift from the iTunes store each day between December 26 and January 6th. The gifts can include apps, books, TV shows and music. From 26 December -- 6 January, you can download a gift each day -- songs, apps, books, films and more -- with the 12 Days of Gifts app. Each day's gift will only be available for 24 hours, so download the free app to make sure you don't miss out. Please note: Not all content is available in all countries. In previous years, 12 Days of Gifts was only available in various European countries and Canada. This year, for whatever reason, Apple has decided to include the United States on the list. This is also the first year Apple is calling the app "12 Days of Gifts." In previous years, the app was called "12 Days of Christmas." Apple's 12 Days of Gifts is a free download and a universal app, so it runs on both the iPhone and iPad.

Apple has pushed live an update to its UK- and Europe-only 12 Days of Christmas app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, getting it ready for 2012's holiday festivities. The app counts down to December 26, the day after Christmas, and the first of 12 days on which Apple will be gifting free apps, books, music and other iTunes content to users. Each e-gift will only be available for 24 hours once posted (you'll be able to get push notifications if you wish) and, as mentioned above, the app is only available to iOS device owners in the UK and Europe. If you live in those territories, you'll also be able to receive daily free content from the iTunes Store on your Mac from December 26 through January 6. [Via iMore]

Everybody knows that nothing says "Happy Holidays" like throwing some more fuel on the WoW-vs.-SWTOR fire. Gamebreaker.TV fully realizes this and has decided to contribute its own rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas in the form of a World of Warcraft Rogue trading verbal blows with a Star Wars: The Old Republic Sith Assassin over whose game is better. It's a rather amusing way of mixing MMOs and holiday spirit, but let's not let it devolve into a real flame war, hm? Click on past the cut for the full video.

  • The '12 Days of Christmas' get a Gears of War 2 makeover

Epic has prepared a special Gears of War 2 event (dubbed the "12 Days of Christmas") for the holidays, granting an (odd) in-game bonus for each day. The event kicks off tomorrow, December 23, with everyone receiving a Noobsaw. The "noob" moniker seems aimed more at its wielders than its victims, since it can't be interrupted and lowered by gunfire. The following day will allow insta-kill melee attacks, and the one after that will reward an extra grenade for every pickup. Golden weapons will also be unlocked for all during the course of the event, while multiplayer matches will net you triple the experience points. You can check out the full list of modifiers over at the Gears site. Happy Noobsawing! [Thanks, John!]

As we reported last week, Apple is again rolling out their '12 Days of Christmas' promo for almost all of Europe. From December 26 to January 6 anyone with a iTunes account in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, Finland, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, and Ireland can download a free song, music video, app, television show, or film from 'some of the biggest star performers' on iTunes. To help you remember to download the daily giveaway, Apple has created a '12 Days of Christmas' iPhone app [UK iTunes link]. It uses push notifications to alert you when the new download is available and also allows you to connect to Facebook and recommend the download to your friends. So if you live in Europe, get downloading! The promo starts December 26th, but the app is available now!
