Ever bought a track from iTunes? Well, turns out, if you did you're in good company, with Apple revealing that over 25 billion songs in total have been purchased from the store. Wondering what song was the record breaker? That'd be Monkey Drums (Goksel Vancin Remix) by Chase Buch. No? Us neither. Said song was bought by one lucky German, Phillip Lüpke, snagging the music fan a €10,000 iTunes voucher at the same time. And who said there was no money in the music business these days.

We doubt you've wasted much time contemplating which iOS apps are the most popular, but Apple wants to tell you anyway. Over the past year Cupertino's been keeping its greatest hits up to date in the App Store, and it's made another adjustment to the page in celebration of reaching the 25 billion download mark. The best of the best shouldn't come as much of a surprise -- Angry Birds and its 12 versions are in there, as well as Fruit Ninja, Pandora and Facebook. But if you're even the slightest bit curious as to what else made it to the top of the charts, feel free to scope out the complete listing at the link below.

With the 25 billionth app sold the evening of March 3rd to Chunli Fu of Qingdao, China, Apple has now taken the time to tally up the top all-time paid and free apps for iPhone and iPad. The last time Apple updated the list was when a paltry 10 billion apps had gone out the virtual doors of the App Store. While space prohibits posting the entire list here, let it suffice to say that Angry Birds (US$0.99) topped the list for paid iPhone apps, Facebook was the most-downloaded free iPhone app, Pages ($9.99) was the most popular paid iPad app, and Angry Birds HD Free pushed its way to the top of the free iPad app list. MacStories editor Federico Viticci did a slice and dice on the data, and came up with these interesting factoids, among others: - 17 apps from Top Paid for iPhone chart are from the Games category. - There are no Apple apps in the Top Paid for iPhone chart. - There are two Google apps in the Top Free for iPhone chart, no Apple apps. - 10 apps from Top Free for iPhone chart are from the Games category. - 13 apps from Top Paid for iPad chart are from the Games category. - There are 4 Apple apps in the Top Paid for iPad chart. - There are no Apple apps in the Top Free for iPad chart. - 6 apps from Top Paid for iPad chart are from the Productivity category. - 6 apps from Top Free for iPad chart are from the Games category.

If you've ever downloaded an app from iTunes then congratulations, you are a part of history. Just a few minutes ago Apple notched its 25 billionth download, thanking all involved for getting there, and of course (like it did for 10 billion, and 1 billion), gifting the lucky individual who crossed the line with another $10k gift card. Not sure what you would buy with $10,000 in App Store bucks? That's ok, since you probably don't have it, but don't forget -- our official Engadget and Distro apps are free, and will love you back all the same. Remember way back in 2008 when all this was fresh and new? Relive the iPhone SDK press conference via our liveblog right here.Update: According to Apple's official presser, that 25 billionth app download was made by a user in Qingdao, China. The game? Disney's Where's My Water? Free -- a fitting honor given Mr. Jobs former role on that company's board.[Thanks, Sam]
