TN Games HTX Helmet lets you feel those headshots
Impact gear isn't exactly the hottest peripheral out there for game consoles, but TN Games is apparently finding plenty of hardcore gamers willing to splurge on its FPS Vest. Now, the outfit is finally getting official with its HTX Helmet, which we first heard about as the year began. Utilizing the company's 3rd Space technology, it's designed to be used in conjunction with the 3rd Space Gaming Vest and will enable wearers' to feel blows to the head when fired upon. We're talking bullets whizzing by, impacts of shots -- the works. If, for some incredibly odd reason, that sounds like your idea of fun, be on the lookout for a 2009 release.[Via Engadget Chinese, thanks Sarah]
Vest to allow WoW players to feel the pain
You know, our characters take a lot of punishment on a day to day basis. We may get roasted in hellfire, sliced nearly in two, buried alive, or disemboweled in the course of a regular game day. Yet through it all, our characters just keep coming back for more. Haven't you sort of wondered how our characters must feel at the end of a long day of punishment like that? Haven't you ever wanted to feel just for a moment, what they go through? Okay, neither have I. In fact, I'd have to say that I'm allergic to pain. But just in case we ever get the bug, here comes the next evolution of the good old rumble pack: The TN games 3rd Space Vest which uses a system of 8 pneumatic cells to deliver blows with varying levels of force based on action in game. Sure, technically rumble force vests aren't exactly new. In fact, this one came out back in March. But as our Sister Site Massively mentions, it's WoW-compatible. Specifically, it's being demo'd with WoW at the E for All Expo.Before you make plans to see how it feels to forget to activate your Tears of the Goddess though, be warned: It currently only sells in the UK. Of course, if they're demoing it at E3, maybe they'll get us a version out here sooner or later.
TN Games' impact-generating FPS Vest goes on sale
Are you a hardcore gamer? No, seriously -- a hardcore gamer. If so, you should have no qualms throwing down $169 for TN Games' FPS Vest now that it's available for order. The entire bundle includes an "impact-generating" wearable, an air compressor, USB cable, power supply and copies of 3rd Space Incursion and Call of Duty 2 for PC. Just don't wander too far outside of your house with this thing on, alright?[Via CNET]
TN Games readying 3rd Space GFR Vest and HXT Helmet
Details are still fairly light on this one, but the folks at TN Games have just dropped us word that the company is about to expand its line of wearable gaming devices, with its new 3rd Space GFR Vest and HXT Helmet set to make their official debut at CES (if you're curious, those acronyms refer to G-Force / Racing and "Head and eXTremities," respectively). The new get-ups will complement the company's existing 3rd Space gaming vest (pictured at right) which, as we previously reported, was originally developed for medical applications before being re-purposed for gaming. While we'll have to wait for CES to get the full rundown on the new gear, both the helmet and vest promise to deliver "simultaneous physical impact and sensations directly to player¹s bodies from the virtual gaming environment," along with a "conveyance of acceleration, deceleration, centrifugal and G-force effects" in the case of the vest. Needless to say, those with weak stomachs will probably want to sit on the sidelines this time around, as we're guessing these'll pack a bit more punch than that Aura Interactor vest collecting dust in your closet.
Medical force feedback vest tweaked for gaming
Over at the E for All Expo, doctor Mark Ombrellaro is demonstrating a medical feedback vest altered so that it works with video games. When an in-game character gets hit or shot, the gamer wearing the vest feels "pneumatic thumps" to their torso. Originally designed for remote medical inspections for prisoners and the elderly, the "3rd Space" vest will cost $189 when it launches in November, and will include an unspecified version of Call of Duty, along with a custom title. TN Games, the company that is suiting up the vest for gamers, plans on launching a version of the vest to simulate G-Forces for flight sims and racers later on next year.
