The best games for Xbox One
A series of missteps put Microsoft in second place before the Xbox One even came out. While it's likely to remain there until the next generation begins, there are a lot of people out there who have never experienced what the console has to offer. With the Xbox One X having a clear advantage over Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro when it comes to gaming on a 4K TV, there's never been a better time to jump in.
The best games for PS4
With over 1,500 titles to choose from, the sheer volume of games on offer, coupled with the subjective nature of the medium, makes it impossible to be definitive. So we’re not going to be.
'Death Stranding' comes to PC on June 2nd
Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima's latest videogame turn movie opus, will arrive on Steam and the Epic Games Store on June 2nd. According to Kojima Productions and 505 Games, the PC version will feature a new photo mode, as well as support for ultrawide monitors and high frames rates. Most intriguingly of all, however, it will include "content" from Valve's seminal first-person shooter, Half-Life.
'Death Stranding' for PC will come to both Epic Games Store and Steam
When you heard that Death Stranding was coming to PCs next summer, did you cringe at the rumors that it might be yet another Epic Games Store exclusive? You can relax. Kojima Productions and 505 Games have confirmed that the game will be available through both Steam and Epic's store at the same time for $60 (£55) when it's ready in summer 2020. 'Control' DLC hints at an 'Alan Wake' tie-in
Remedy's game worlds might collide in a very conspicuous way. The studio has shared a roadmap for Control's downloadable content through 2020, and a second paid expansion (AWE) due in mid-2020 hints at a not-so-subtle crossover between Jesse's adventures and those of Alan Wake. Officially, the company has only said the DLC will have Jesse exploring a new Investigations Sector of the Oldest House that explores Altered World Events (hence the title), but there are multiple hints of a connection. Be careful: spoilers are ahead.
Hand-drawn RPG 'Indivisible' finally arrives October 8th
Cuphead isn't the only hand-drawn game to have a years-long birthing process. Whichever version you play, you'll get the same meticulously animated visuals and elaborate backgrounds, plus a fast-paced action RPG mechanic that involves absorbing "Incarnations" that can fight alongside you.
'Human Fall Flat' lands on iOS and Android June 26th
Human Fall Flat has proven a big hit on consoles and PC, with more than five million copies sold by last February as players hopped into No Brakes Games' hilarity-filled world. It emerged back then that a mobile port was on the way, and now we know you'll be able to play it on Android and iOS starting June 26th.
'Journey to the Savage Planet' is surprisingly relaxing
When I first heard the name 'Journey to the Savage Planet,' I tensed up. I've played tons of space exploration games that put a heavy emphasis on survival. They're brilliantly tense affairs, but I wasn't sure that my sleep-deprived body and mind were ready for that kind of onslaught at E3. Thankfully, the first title by Typhoon Studios is nothing of the sort. In fact, it's the complete opposite -- a relaxing and consistently funny adventure that's perfect for people who don't want to feel stressed out.
'Bloodstained' revives the spirit of 'Castlevania' on June 18th
After a long, long development cycle, the spiritual successor to Castlevania finally has a tangible release date. ArtPlay and 505 Games have announced that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will hit PS4, Xbox One and PC (both GOG and Steam) on June 18th, with the Switch version arriving a week later on June 25th. The extra time may have paid off -- the team made a point of showing how the side-scrolling action RPG has evolved over the past year, with spruced-up artwork and more overall panache.
