Fido customers can now partake in all that fabulous Finnish midrange 3G action that AT&T customers have been enjoying for the past half year. That's right, Canadian friends -- the stylish 6555 flip can now be yours, offering quadband EDGE, microSD expansion (with a 1GB card thrown in to get you started), QVGA primary display, and 1.3 megapixel cam. Curiously, Fido makes no mention of the 6555's UMTS capabilities, so maybe they're pulling a bit of a T-Mobile there by concealing the full extent of the phone's power. Grab it now for $75 CAD (about $76) on a 3-year contract.[Via Mobile In Canada]

Back when we were young'uns, red was red, blue was blue, and that's the way we liked it. Nowadays, everything needs a fancy name, and not even the simplest of colors are spared. Take AT&T's new 6555 shade, for example: it can't just be brown or beige. Heck, we'd even be cool with ochre. But no, Nokia has to get all fancy on us with "sand." Okay, okay, we're just messing around, sand's a fine name, and you can pick up the 3G flip's newest color now for about $50 on contract. Supremo Red, on the other hand...[Via phoneArena]

Like pretty much everything else in life, carriers' launch dates tend to slip, sometimes to the extreme (oh, come on, you can't tell us you've never procrastinated to the point where you couldn't make a due date!). To that end, we've gotten an updated look at AT&T's expected drop dates, and it seems like the wait has gotten a little longer for a few of the more anticipated handsets in the pipe. Some devices like the red version of the Nokia 6555 have slipped a couple weeks, while others -- the lowly Samsung A127 comes to mind -- have actually moved up. The Pantech Duo has also been pushed out from October 9 to the 30th, possibly to give the just-launched Tilt a little breathing room in the spotlight. Click on for the full list![Thanks, Kal-El]Update: A second source is telling us that the Duo is still tracking for shipment "on or about" the 9th. Of course, the proof is in the pudding -- but either way, at least we'll be getting our Duo on before the month's out.

We've just been tipped on a fresh roadmap for AT&T's fall launches, and goodness, there's a little something for everyone in here! Note that these are order dates, subject to change -- not necessarily in-store dates -- so your mileage may vary trying to grab these devices on the dates you see here. First up, LG rolls out the CG180 and CU515 "Chiwoo" on October 2. Nokia adds another color for the 6555 on October 11, red, which we think will suite it quite nicely. Speaking of new colors, Sony Ericsson brings a black version of the W580i on October 9. The Pantech Duo -- a device we suspect many folks are getting fired up over -- should hit on the same day. From Motorola, the Q9 Global becomes orderable just a few days from now, September 25, alongside the Tilt from HTC. UTStarcom outs the AMOI-sourced 5700 on October 9, giving folks a low cost (albeit non-3G) Windows Mobile option. RIM gets busy with the Curve 8310 on October 4, effectively sunsetting the original 8300 by adding GPS into the mix. On the data modem side, Sierra and Option will both be contributing HSUPA devices in October. Let's hear it for speedy uploads! Follow the break for the full roadmap.[Thanks, Superman]

Hey, we'd been told we'd see this next month -- but who are we to complain when the phone fairy drops in a couple weeks early? Nokia and AT&T today have announced the immediate availability of the 6555, a rather attractive flip -- "smoothback design," as they call it -- sporting UMTS, a QVGA primary display, microSD expansion in case the 30MB onboard ain't enough, and the full spread of GSM / EDGE bands for global dominance. It hasn't shown up on AT&T's site just yet, but we're told we can get it today for $49.99 on a two-year agreement.

These are all devices we know folks have been waiting for, so we're delighted to finally hear some whipsers that launch windows are being put in place. First up, the AT&T Tilt -- alias 8925, alias Kaiser -- is rumored to be priced at $299 on a two-year or $374 on a one-year agreement. The Pantech Duo, which Amazon jumped the gun on over the weekend, will be launching for $199 on a two-year, which makes the Amazon pricing a bargain already. The Nokia 6555 "Inferno" gets priced at $49.99 on contract -- a steal for a sharp lookin' 3G flip, we figure. Last but not least, the Motorola Q9 global finally materializes for a cool $299, putting it head to head with the Tilt. All four of these are supposedly scheduled for shipment to stores on October 1, making for a very interesting month. Everyone know which of the four they're choosing yet?[Thanks, Amy K.]

We've received some information detailing phones that AT&T apparently plans to launch in the not-too-distant future; we don't even have dates or prices just yet, but a few of these are juicy enough so that we thought we'd pass it along anyhow. Samsung looks to be launching the A117 "Jayhawk" and A127 "Mbenz" (both on prepaid), the A517 "Lion," and the A737 "Peridot" in metal, orange, and lime. Nokia contributes the attractive 6555 "Inferno" and a refreshed N75 with stereo Bluetooth and a new UI. From LG we get the CU515 "Chiwoo" and CU720 "Saturn," while Pantech brings us that crazy dual slide Windows Mobile 6 device as the C810b. Good times![Thanks, Tasty Thirds]

  • Nokia's 6555 does the 3G flip with style

Take a moment to welcome the new Nokia 6555. This 3G (WCDMA of unspecified band) clamshell goes quadband GSM with microSD expansion (30MB on-boad) and 240 x 320 QVGA display touting 16 million colors. If thin is your thing and 3G Nokia your game then this is about as good as it gets. Available next month for about €200 pre-tax and pre-subsidy. Unfortunately, Nokia doesn't say where, but its forward-facing profile certainly matches up nicely with Nokia's FCC approved RM-276 handset operating in the 850 and 1900MHz bands (read: AT&T).%Gallery-6170%
