Acer has been busy showing off one smartphone after the other over the past few months, and making promises about at least one Android-based device, but it now looks like folks in the US will have to wait a bit longer than expected to actually get their hands on 'em. While complete details are a bit light, according to Gearlog, the phones are being held up as a result of some snags with US carriers, and the first phones now likely won't make their debut until some unspecified point in 2010. Presumably, that means the phones are still on track for a release overseas this year, and there's no doubt at least a slight chance that the situation could change over here before the year is out.[Via Phone Scoop]Update: That "slight chance" just got a little greater. Acer has told SlashGear that a fourth-quarter 2009 release isn't out of the question; we're figuring it probably depends more on how carrier relationships work out than anything else.

Not long after we spotted four new Acer phones in Barcelona has the company officially unveiled the Tempo X960, F900, M900, and DX900 smartphones, albeit with a few typo-laden spec sheets. Interestingly, all of them are running Windows Mobile 6.1, even though Stevey Ballms pulled the wraps off WinMo 6.5 earlier today -- and making matters worse, we're not seeing that required hardware Start button on the DX900 or X960, which means an upgrade probably isn't in the cards. Curious move, we'd say -- and we're also in the dark on what happened to that goofy dual-sided set we saw leaked earlier. We'll be on the lookout for answers, check all the detailed specs after the break.%Gallery-44911%

Acer has a flamenco-themed party in store for Mobile World Congress attendees, pledging to finally unveil its oft-delayed line of smartphone debutantes amidst a flurry of stomping feet and clapping hands. Unfortunately for the proud parent it seems one randy model just couldn't keep quiet until then, caught in the wild by Mr. Blurrycam with its QWERTY showing. No details are known beyond its rather chunky look when the keyboard is positioned like this, but we'll surely have all the details for you in about two weeks -- after politely excusing ourselves from the dance floor, of course.
