The developers of Hyper Light Drifter have introduced their second game, and it's about as strange as you'd expect... if not more so. Heart Machine has offered a brief peek at Solar Ash Kingdom, a game that blends a "surreal" world, "massive enemy encounters" and, importantly, "wild high-speed traversal." From all indications, it's like rollerblading on acid -- we hope you like gliding effortlessly through the clouds on your way to attack giant eye creatures.

The sequel to the hit indie game Her Story will have a relatively star-studded cast. Creator Sam Barlow and Annapurna Interactive have revealed the main cast for Telling Lies, and you might just recognize some of them even if they aren't mega-stars. Logan Marshall-Green (Charlie Holloway in Prometheus) will play David, while Alexandra Shipp (Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse) takes the role of Ava. Kerry Bishé of Halt and Catch Fire fame will play Emma, and Angela Sarafyan (Clementine from Westworld) will play Max.

Gone Home, one of the most acclaimed indie games of the last few years, is making its way to iOS. Just a few months after hitting Nintendo Switch, it will be available on iPhone and iPad December 11th for $4.99. It's yet another platform on which you'll find the narrative-focused game, which was originally released in 2013 -- you can also play Gone Home on PC, Mac, Xbox One, PS4 and Linux.

Gone Home, the hit debut from The Fullbright Company, was supposed to be released for the Nintendo Switch today, but the launch has been delayed. Annapurna Interactive, the publisher bringing the game to the Switch, tweeted that the new launch date is now September 6th. So it's not that long of a wait, but still a bummer for those looking forward to it. Some good news could be on the way, though. The tweet teased that the company "might have some additional news to share" on the new release date.

  • 'Wattam' is a wonderfully weird game about friendship

Keita Takahashi is an unusual video game designer. His breakout hit, Katamari Damacy, was about picking up objects with an increasingly large, sticky ball. He then made Noby Noby Boy, a game about a colorful, worm-like creature that can stretch around animals, houses and planets. Now, the artist is working on Wattam, a light-hearted puzzle game about a little green mayor and his quest to find a group of long-lost friends. It's a wonderfully weird experience that doesn't fall into any conventional game genre — and that's just fine by me.

Limited-run physical indie game releases may be an endangered species thanks to the ESRB and console makers, but that's not stopping at least one hit title from getting the hard copy treatment. The team at iam8bit has started pre-orders for both a limited disc version of Giant Sparrow's What Remains of Edith Finch for PS4 and a vinyl edition of Fargo composer Jeff Russo's accompanying soundtrack. The game ships in late December for $30, and it includes reversible cover art in addition to a region-free copy of the title itself.

Believe it or not, there hasn't been a console version of the mysterious, narrative-driven Kentucky Route Zero since the first act arrived in 2013. Well, it's here... and you may have a good reason to get it even if you've played the adventure title to death on your PC. Cardboard Computer has revealed Kentucky Route Zero TV Edition for the PS4, Switch and Xbox One, and this new version will include the fifth and final act of truck driver Conway's strange journey. Yes, you can head to the living room to finish the story. It'll include all the supporting interludes, too.

Hit indie FMV game 'Her Story' gets a spiritual sequel

Did you enjoy Her Story, the indie title that revived the use of full-motion video in games? You're not alone: Sam Barlow's game sold over 100,000 copies, a lot for a small-budget release, and won its share of acclaim, including multiple awards. And apparently, that's enough to help fuel a sequel. Barlow and Annapurna Interactive (the publishers of What Remains of Edith Finch) are producing Telling Lies, a "spiritual follow-up" to Her Story. While they're tight-lipped as to the narrative, the new game will rely on video to unfurl a plot "in the vein of a political thriller" with three or four key characters. Barlow likens it to a cross between Francis Ford Coppola's The Conversation and Steve McQueen's Shame -- it'll look at the "intersection of government, society and individuals."

Frustrated that the mysterious story of What Remains of Edith Finch has been available on PCs and the PS4 for months, but not your Xbox One? Don't be. Giant Sparrow and Annapurna Interactive have confirmed that Edith Finch is coming to Xbox One on July 19th for $20. The experience remains the same, but that's no bad thing if you're a fan of exploration stories like Everybody's Gone to the Rapture or the upcoming Tacoma -- it's all about revealing an intricate narrative.

Young Calvin Finch sits on a swing perched atop a steep seaside cliff while the afternoon sun warms the waves, grass and trees. Calvin's left leg is in a cast, but he easily swings his feet back and forth, pushing higher and higher over the cliffside. He wants to do a full circle on the swing set; he knows it's possible if he tries hard enough. Back and forth, back and forth. Cast kicking, he climbs higher, parallel to the ground and shooting back down, swinging his legs even harder. And then, with a final determined kick, he does it. Calvin flies around and around, branches of the tree above him scratching his face and body, leaves and twigs falling to the ground. Suddenly, on the last high-velocity rotation, Calvin lets go of the chains, and his body soars over the cliff, cast and all. For a moment, he flies above the water, toward the setting sun. And then, he's dead.
