The Revolutionary War never looked so good. Ubisoft announced today that it will be reaching into its vault and giving Assassin's Creed III a fresh coat of paint with a remastered edition, set to drop on March 29th. The new, higher resolution version of the classic title will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC -- though there's been no mention of a Nintendo Switch version for the time being.

  • Samsung bundles Assassin's Creed III with SSD 840 Pro to spark a sales revolution, ships the 840 line

Samsung's experiment with a Ghost Recon SSD bundle must have been a hit with gamers, since it's coming back for a second round the very same year. The upgrade-minded buying 128GB, 256GB or 512GB versions of the SSD 840 Pro can get a free downloadable copy of Assassin's Creed III for a "limited time" to take advantage of those 540MB/s peak read speeds while they skew the fate of the American Revolutionary War. The bundle comes not-so-coincidentally as Samsung has shipped and priced the wider SSD 840 line itself: while we knew the Pro line's impact on our wallets, the regular models are now ready to sell at prices between $140 for a 120GB drive to $700 for a 500GB model. That's a $50 to $190 savings over the Pro models, but we'll leave it to you to decide whether faster write speeds, slightly more capacity and Connor's secret fight with the Templars are worth the premium.

  • Grab Sony's HMZ-T2 head-mounted display and play these games at Tokyo Game Show

Forget about that messy Oculus Rift, business -- Sony's got a properly futuristic looking (and shiny!) head-mounted display for gaming, too, and it's gonna make another public appearance at this year's Tokyo Game Show. Of course, Sony's effort doesn't also offer head tracking, but, again, it's much nicer looking, so we're willing to excuse major technical differences. A whole litany of games will be playable with the HMZ-T2 device at TGS, from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance to Assassin's Creed 3 (some games are only demoable with the HMZ device, oddly). As we learned earlier today, the HMZ-T2 goes on sale (in Japan at least) this October for nearly $900. That Oculus Rift is starting to sound much more appealing, eh?

  • Wii U titles listed on Amazon let us see Nintendo's all-new packaging design

Although it shouldn't come as a surprise that Nintendo would be redesigning its software packaging to accommodate the new "U," it's still nice to get an early peek at what we can expect from the Japanese gaming giant come "this holiday" season. As you can tell by the Avengers: Battle for Earth title above, the design only sees slight changes near the top, where it's clearly left the white and gray accents for a more colorful blue and yellow coating -- not to mention the expected addition of the Wii U branding around the center. There are other games out in the Amazon wild besides the Marvel one here, including Just Dance 4 and Assassin's Creed 3. You can check those out at any of the source links below.
