  • Blue dye could help keep Ebola doctors safe

If you're unfortunate enough to wind up in hospital with a dangerous infectious disease like Ebola, then keep an eye on what your doctors are wearing. If their hazmat suits are smeared with blue dye that gently evaporates as they work with you, you can rest easy. If they're sporting the odd tint, it means that they're taking proper precautions and keeping their biohazard gear nice and clean. It also means that they're using Kinnos Highlight, a new wonder dye created by three students out of Columbia University.

  • VIZ Media launching subscription-based 'Neon Alley' anime channel on consoles this fall

VIZ Media, the localization company responsible for bringing Bleach, Naruto and all things Rumiko Takahashi stateside, has announced that it will be launching a 24-hour anime network called Neon Alley on consoles this fall.Which consoles will actually receive Neon Alley remains to be seen, as the press release (found after the break) does not list specifics. The $6.99 a month service will not be an on-demand streaming app, but rather an actual television channel with a schedule and everything. All content will be uncensored, in HD when possible, but always dubbed in English, which could be good or bad depending on your personal anime sensibilities. The channel will broadcast advertisements, despite the subscription fee, though VIZ says those ads will be "limited" and help keep the monthly cost below 10 dollars. Announced programming includes Naruto Shippuden, Inuyasha: The Final Act, Death Note and quite a few others, as well as original programming.

We can't explain why NIS America's new Bleach game is called Soul Resurrección without getting into some impenetrable lore, but we can tell you about the stuff you'll get when you buy it. The first printing of the PS3 game (out August 2) will include vouchers for downloads of episodes 190-192 of the Bleach anime. The offer is available in both the US and Canada. In addition, for discerning Bleach fans, NIS America has announced that the North American release of the game will include both Japanese and English audio tracks. Both, judging by the title, will include a little Spanish.

Viz Media, the anime localization super-giant responsible for bringing both Bleach and Naruto to North America, will continue its cultural conquest of the western continent by releasing Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva in North American markets. The film takes place between the events of Professor Layton and the Last Specter (due out this fall) and Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, and should be available at your local otaku shelter "later this year." The 2009 animated film featuring everyone's favorite top-hat professor had previously undergone westernization for its 2010 release in the UK, however Viz Media's adaptation will be the first version available in the US and Canada for those weary of importing. The film has been such a success in Japan and abroad that Layton developer Level 5 has already commissioned a sequel, however there has been no mention of localization for that adventure so far.

  • Netflix deal with Viz Media brings more anime with subbed eps of Inuyasha, Bleach, Naruto

As we noted when Netflix announced its expanded deal with Fox, there's some new anime available on Watch Instantly these days and now Netflix has revealed a deal with Viz Media made it all possible. This has brought hundreds of episodes of popular series including Bleach, Naruto and Inuyasha to the service and most importantly, they're uncut and feature the Japanese audio with subtitles -- a must for hardcore fans. There's also new eps of other series like Trigun and Fullmetal Alchemist available through a deal with Funimation, but unfortunately it appears those are dubbed editions. Clearly licensing issues play a role, but here's hoping we see more original audio, uncut releases in the future (trying to watch Ghost in the Shell dubbed is just painful) or in the best possible case -- an option to watch subbed or dubbed.

  • Bleach: Soul Ignition brings franchise to PS3

It only took seven Heat the Soul games on the PSP before Sony decided to bring the popular Shonen Jump manga & anime series to the PS3. Soul Ignition is the first Sony-published Bleach game for the PS3, and although details are slim, it appears that at least three of the main characters will have a starring role: Ichigo, Rukia and Ishida. Soul Ignition isn't set to be released until 2011, and it's likely to remain a Japan-only release. Sony has -- for reasons unknown to us -- refused to localize any of its Bleach games thus far. Thankfully, like its PSP predecessors, this should be an easy find at an import store. [Thanks, AriesWarlock!]

In the five years since the Bleach: Heat the Soul franchise began, Sony has managed to create seven games, all exclusively for the PSP. Considering Bleach is a relatively popular anime series in America, we're dumbfounded by Sony's continued refusal to bring a single one of these games over to America. The seventh iteration of the popular fighting game franchise will add four-player battles, according to a report by Siliconera. Perhaps taking a page from Monster Hunter's tremendous success, you'll be able to fight "giant enemies," something that will most likely require the use of the newly added four-player mode.

Well, this is getting tiresome. Here's yet another Bleach game by Sony that will seemingly never come to America. What's with the hold-up?Bleach: Soul Carnival 2 is, predictably, a follow-up to last year's Chibi-Ichigo brawler. This time around, the game will focus more on the story of the anime, and it will incorporate many scenes from the show as players progress. This teaser trailer ends with "Coming this Winter," which (if you haven't figured it out by now) doesn't apply to you, unless you import.

  • Review: Dissidia: Final Fantasy (PSP)

Dissidia: Final Fantasy is just okay. While the time I spent with the game's combat was certainly fun, if repetitive at times, a truly awful story and seemingly arbitrary customization options weigh down an otherwise decent fighting game. After 10 hours and a handful of characters, I was left wondering exactly who the game was intended for -- the FF fan in me loathed the story and the fighting game fan in me wanted deeper, more varied combat. %Gallery-12134%

World of WarCrafts returns to WoW Insider with a broadened focus to spotlight art and creativity by WoW players and fans, including fan art, cooking, comics, cosplay, music, fan fiction – and yes, (War)crafts. Share your creativity: tip us off via the tips line (attention: World of WarCrafts).Fans of Sugarrat's WoW Bleach Shirt didn't waste a moment after last week's feature to get working on their own creations. We begin this week's World of WarCrafts with another version of the bleach shirt from reader Andy (Zorren of Auchindoun-EU). "I made basically negative versions compared to hers, as the bleach isn't the outline – it's the fill," he wrote. "I based them on spray-paint stencils but had fun bleaching the designs ... and my pants ... and the tablecloth ..."... and apparently, a hip flask for his friend Criterous of Auchindoun-EU, too. "Similar method to Sugarrat's, except I cut the design from sticker paper and spray painted over it," he noted. It appears to have played a major part in a happy birthday celebration, from the look of things -- check out the photo of a happy Criterous at the very end of this article.Another bleach shirt, plus a handmade racial necklace (and Criterous' happy day), after the break.

Share your stuff by tipping us off via our tips line (attention: World of WarCrafts). This T-shirt from Sugarrat of Earthen Ring-US is crafting at its absolute best: a cool end product based on instructions simple enough that you could pull it off with your paws in bear form. We asked Sugarrat to send us the complete instructions and photos so we could host them here, to keep her guild's server from being splurched -- that's how popular we know this shirt will be. "I am a girly girl," Sugarrat explains. "I like my pearls and my bright colours and really wish there was more wearable Warcraft art. I saw a few sexy things on Etsy -- but I am also kinda cheap, so thought I would try and make my own."Click on the gallery below for step-by-step instructions on making Sugarrat's WoW Bleach Shirt. Unlike most game series, there was no way to tell even which genre Sega's fourth DS Bleach game would be, after the company jumped abruptly from 2D fighting games to a tactical RPG. Video footage of the new Bleach DS 4th: Flame Bringer, spotted by Siliconera, reveals the new game to be yet another departure from previous works -- this time, in the form of a side-scrolling action-platformer.The two videos, visible after the break, show Ichigo Kurasaki traversing levels that scroll both horizontally and vertically across both DS screens, and performing crazy sword combos. Flame Bringer is out August 6 in Japan. We'll have to wait just a bit, since its predecessor has yet to be released in North America.[Via Siliconera]

The Heat the Soul series is already up to its sixth iteration in Japan, and it seems like none of these Bleach games will ever find their way stateside. Strange, considering it's a Sony first-party game across the pond. The fighting franchise has been getting better with every iteration, with larger casts, better graphics and sleeker presentation. We won't hold our breath for an English language release, so enjoy this footage -- it's the closest we can come to the game without importing it.

We spotted Bleach: The 3rd Phantom on GameStop's "coming soon" list a month ago, but it's taken until just now for Sega of America to make an official announcement. According to the press release, The 3rd Phantom will be out this fall. We have the first English screenshots in our gallery. The 3rd Phantom, unlike the last two DS Bleach games, is a strategy RPG, with an original storyline that "shed[s] light on events that transpire before the animated series begins," focusing on two Soul Reaper twins named Fujimaru Kudo and Matsuri Kudo. The new RPG will feature voice work from the Bleach anime cast. Over fifty playable characters are available, with many unlocked through the management of "personal relationships through in-game dialog interactions and various other conditions." Exactly what Bleach fans want out of their fighting manga series!%Gallery-20014%

Sega has announced a fourth DS Bleach game, called, appropriately enough, Bleach DS 4th: Flame Bringer. The first two DS games were fighting games developed by Treasure, and the third is an internally-developed tactical RPG. So basically we have no idea what Flame Bringer will be. The official teaser site isn't telling! We'll find out when Sega decides to release any gameplay information at all. We're guessing "RPG," since Treasure just did a Bleach fighter for Wii.And on the subject of its predecessor, GameStop reveals that The 3rd Phantom is coming to the US! We expect that the September 9 release date is a placeholder, although any Sega release on that date would be very cool.[Via Siliconera]

What? Another Bleach game? Sony is beating Madden by making this fighting game a more-than-annual affair. Granted, Heat the Soul is quite possibly the best looking and best playing iteration of the popular anime series on any console. Let's hope Sony isn't tiring the fanbase out a bit too quickly with the number of Bleach games they've created.Maybe SCEA (or Sega?) can help bring one of these games to the States? Please?

We're pretty sure people still like the Bleach manga and anime, and we like Treasure, and everyone likes a good online fighting game, so Bleach: Versus Crusade seems like a winner. Since Sega localized both previous Treasure Bleach games for the DS, we wouldn't be too surprised to see this one come along as well. Sega isn't making any hints in this trailer, though -- the Wi-Fi section overlays two gameplay videos over a map of Japan. The trailer looks totally great, if a bit hyperfast for our comprehension! We're anxious (and slightly worried) to see how Treasure fares at creating a 3D fighter.

We think we're going to have to start reading or watching Bleach so we know what's going on in Bleach Versus Crusade and the DS fighting games. Our interest in the DS games has been motivated mostly by love of developer Treasure, and that is certainly driving our desire to play the Wii game as well. But we can't help but think that it would be nice to know who all these people are and why they're fighting.Even as a context-free fighting game, however, we think Versus Crusade looks pretty nice. You can see for yourself in the latest batch of screens, originally posted on the official site, but visible in a much less annoying Flash interface on Wiiz.

Dear Sony Computer Entertainment,You do know that there are a lot of Bleach fans here in the US, right? The DS game, Blade of Fate sold 250,000 copies here in the States. Granted, that's the best-selling Bleach game out there, but we'd like to think that the PSP games would fare pretty well. At the very least, it should sell enough copies to break even -- especially if you release it directly on the PlayStation Store. If for some reason you don't want to publish it, we'll be glad to take it off your hands. Provided you're willing to sell the license to us for about $42.90. Because that's how much the game costs on import site Play-Asia. Love,PSP Fanboy
