There's already someone in line at BlizzCon, and they have 29 level 90's
If you were planning on being first in line at BlizzCon, you're already too late. The front of the line has been taken by Brendan "Tibs" Thibodeau, aka Slowmilk, a level 90 tauren death knight from Zangarmarsh, as well as a host of other characters. How many, you might ask -- how about twenty-nine level 90's, complete with five legendary cloaks, eleven Thunderfuries, four Sulfuron Hammers, and one set of Warglaives of Azzinoth completed, with two more in progress. This BlizzCon is the sixth for Tibs, and out of those six BlizzCons, he has been first in line four times. A fifteen year Navy veteran, Tibs played World of Warcraft overseas and once he got home as well. "World of Warcraft was my second home," said Tibs, who has been playing World of Warcraft since December of 2005. "It was getting on and meeting other people from all over the world and having those connections." As for what he'd like to see from BlizzCon ... well, he's still hoping for a mount -- the one and only BlizzCon mount was the Polar Bear from BlizzCon 2008. But in the meantime, Tibs has been busy working on his own goals -- he just got a degree in game production, and hopes to work for Blizzard one day himself. Until then, we know where to find him ... he'll be the guy with the first goodie bag and badge of the con.
BlizzCon tickets beginning to arrive by email
If you were one of the lucky few to snag a ticket to this year's BlizzCon, you should keep an eye on your mailbox because tickets are being sent out. (If you weren't one of the lucky few, you can still pick up a virtual ticket, though!) This year's ticketing process looks to be much like last year's: you'll need to print out your ticket and have it and a photo ID in order to get your badge. Badge pick-up is at the Anaheim Convention Center -- and if you show up on Thursday, the line shouldn't be hard to spot. Pick-up hours are Thursday, November 6 from 9 am to 9 pm; Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8, from 8 am to 10 pm. You'll also get a code to claim your virtual goodies this year, but Blizzard says nothing is available until a rather generic "later date." See you at BlizzCon, everyone!
BlizzCon offers up virtual tickets
If you really want to check out BlizzCon but can't quite manage a flight out to California, a solution is available. Virtual tickets are now available from Blizzard for $39.99, allowing you to watch the panels, the competitions, and the events live from the comfort of your own home. Sure, you won't get to actually be packed in the convention hall, but this way no one cares whether you're wearing pants or not, so you even come out ahead. Purchasing a virtual ticket will give you access to bonus in-game goods for World of Warcraft, Diablo III, StarCraft II, Heroes of the Storm, and Hearthstone, although the details are not yet available. All of the streams are also available in high definition and can be re-watched, so you needn't worry about missing something. If you've already purchased a physical ticket, you still have access to a virtual ticket as well, so you can still take advantage of the streaming. Everyone who wants to attend can at least get something like that experience.
How to update your BlizzCon badge information
June 6th is the last day you'll be able to change the name attached to any BlizzCon tickets you've bought -- which is important, because the name on the badge needs to match the photo ID of whoever picks it up. So if you've bought tickets for guildmates or friends, but haven't updated your information, it's important to do so before it's too late. Fortunately, the process is pretty simple: Log on to Eventbrite. (If you didn't already have an Eventbrite account, it should have been created for you during checkout. Just log on using the email address you used to buy the tickets.) Select BlizzCon under Current Orders at the top of the page. (If you regularly buy tickets through Eventbrite, you may need to click All Orders to see BlizzCon on the list.) If the information listed isn't correct, click Edit details and then enter the correct information. Each attendee needs a first name, last name, and email address listed. Click Save -- you're done! Nearer to the show, each attendee will get an email with a barcode they'll have to bring to BlizzCon to pick up their ticket -- so be sure to print out your barcode and have a photo ID!
BlizzCon Benefit Dinner tickets on sale tomorrow
If you've missed getting BlizzCon tickets so far, you've got one last chance: on Wednesday at 7PM Pacific tickets to this year's Benefit Dinner will go on sale. Though they're pricer than the usual ticket -- $750 each -- these get you into BlizzCon as well as a pre-BlizzCon dinner with Blizzard staff and developers. While this isn't the budget-buyer's way to BlizzCon, these tickets do benefit Blizzard's favorite charity, the Children's Hospital of Orange County. So if you want to lend a helping hand for the kids at CHOC -- and get to enjoy BlizzCon -- head over to the Eventbrite tickets page tomorrow at 7PM sharp. Good luck, ticket-buyers!
Blizzard: Eventbrite meant to combat scalpers
On the BlizzCon forums, CM Phenteo explains that one of the reasons Blizzard is using Eventbrite for ticket sales is to combat ticket scalping: Phenteo One reason why we're using Eventbrite is because there is a quick and easy system to help us monitor purchases and be able to take tickets back from scalpers/bots. source We're all for getting tickets into the hands of fans rather than scalpers, but considering the number of BlizzCon tickets up on Ebay, we're not entirely sure this strategy has worked. However, if Blizzard is able to take tickets away from scalpers, this makes Ebay ticket shopping even more hazardous than usual -- and with the way ticket pickup has worked in the past, it's always been a bit hazardous. If you didn't score BlizzCon tickets last night, you'll have another chance this weekend.
BlizzCon Tickets on sale today
Do you intend on buying tickets to BlizzCon? If you do, then get ready, because today at 7:00 pm pacific, you can attempt to do that very thing. If you don't manage to get your hands on tickets, don't immediately despair, for a second round of tickets will also be available this Sunday, May 10th. From what I understand (having never actually managed to go to BlizzCon) it can be pretty crazy when the opportunity is presented, so you can make use of these resources to try and maximize your chances, also provided on the Blizzard official site. Best of luck to everyone out there trying to snag those tickets. Remember, that's 7:00 pm Pacific, through the Eventbrite site.
How to buy BlizzCon 2014 tickets through Eventbrite
In previous years, Blizzard has sold tickets through their own store -- which meant old hat BlizzCon attendees knew what to expect when it came time to buy their tickets. But this year's switch to Eventbrite means that most of us aren't quite sure how the ticketing process will work. However, Blizzard has posted a comprehensive walkthrough of the ticketing process so you know just what to expect when the first batch of tickets goes up for sale this Wednesday. Key points to note are: General admission tickets will be on sale at Wednesday, May 7 at 7pm PDT and Saturday, May 10 at 10am PDT. Benefit dinner tickets will be on sale at Wednesday, May 14 at 7pm PDT. You can buy a maximum of four tickets -- or just two benefit dinner tickets -- per household. You'll need names and email addresses to associate with each ticket -- but if you don't have them when you buy, you should enter your own name and email address. Just be sure the names are accurate before June 6th! A commonly used trick in the past of clicking "buy" for a single ticket and changing the number at checkout won't work on Eventbrite -- the number of tickets you selected to purchase originally cannot be changed later, so be sure to select the right amount up-front! We still don't have details on the ticket pickup process, but if it's like previous years you should expect the buyer to have to pick up tickets with an ID and possibly credit card.
BlizzCon Benefit Dinner tickets on sale tonight
If you're still on the lookout for BlizzCon tickets -- and have deep pockets -- tonight's your last chance to get them from Blizzard. Tonight at 7 pm Pacific (10 pm Eastern), Benefit Dinner tickets go on sale for $500 each. Though they're costly, these tickets not only get you entry to BlizzCon, you also get to attend dinner with the Blizzard staff on Thursday before BlizzCon kicks off, giving you, as Blizzard puts it, "an opportunity to meet and chat with game developers, artists, executives and other folks from Blizzard Entertainment." You'll also get a signed piece of Blizzard artwork in addition to the usual BlizzCon swag. And it's for a good cause: all proceeds from the event go to the Children's Hospital of Orange County. If you're looking for a chance to nab a ticket of your own, be online and ready before 7 pm Pacific (10 pm Eastern) and check out our ticket purchasing tips to get an edge on the competition. There are only 200 tickets available and, even at $500 each, they're certain to sell out quickly. But even if you don't get a ticket, remember that virtual tickets will be available later and you can still enjoy BlizzCon even without a ticket.
How to attend BlizzCon if you weren't lucky enough to get a ticket
As you probably know, tickets for this year's BlizzCon are now sold out. If you weren't lucky enough to nab a ticket of your own, there are still a few ways to enjoy this year's convention -- and they don't even have to cost an arm and a leg. The bargain basement option: Stay home and follow the blogs. Total cost: Nothing No ticket costs, no travel costs, and no need to interrupt your regular weekend schedule. You'll still get the news, as well as commentary, photos, and video from your favorite blog (which we hope is us, but don't judge if it isn't).
BlizzCon Tickets on sale today at 10am PDT
The last opportunity to purchase tickets for Blizzcon 2013 comes knocking at 10am PDT today. (That's three hours from the time this is published.) The last set, which went on sale at 7pm PDT on Wednesday, sold out at remarkable speed, just as you'd expect for a conference of the huge status and minimal size of BlizzCon. Do check out WoW Insider's tips to getting yourself ready for the ticket push, and most importantly, don't assume that you can wait five minutes before logging on to obtain a few tickets. These sell out incredibly quickly, and you'll need to be ready to go in advance of the scheduled time, with your finger working that F5 key to destruction so that you can get into the queue in a decent position. Don't alt-tab around, don't get a coffee. If you can recruit friends, do! Working as a group can be the very best way to try to ensure that you can secure tickets for you and your friends. You'll need a little organization and communication, but it's worth it, this is BlizzCon, people! This time of day is also far more sociable for the EU than the previous time, so bear that in mind when planning your raid on the battle.net site. Pre-pot for this one! There are also tickets to an exclusive pre-BlizzCon dinner to benefit Children's Hospital of Orange County go on sale Wednesday, May 1 at 7 p.m. PDT. First round of BlizzCon tickets sold out
As has been the case in years prior, if you didn't get into tonight's ticket queue within the first half of the first second of availability, you were out of luck. BlizzCon tickets have already sold out. If you didn't get lucky today, don't panic quite yet -- there's another round of ticket sales on Saturday, April 27 at 10 a.m. PDT.
Reminder: Blizzcon tickets on sale today
It's that time again, time for furious clicking, frantic drop-down menu selections, and long, long queue times. DPS in the dungeon finder during peak hour queue times. BlizzCon tickets will be on sale today starting at 7 pm PDT. If previous years are any indication they will be gone fast, so be prepared. If you can't get them today for whatever reason, they will be on sale again on Saturday, April 27 at 10 am PDT. If you miss out then, there is a third chance to get a ticket as part of the Orange County Children's Hospital pre-BlizzCon benefit dinner, and those tickets will on sale Wednesday, May 1st at 7 pm PDT. As in 2011, BlizzCon tickets will cost US$175 each. In previous years there has been a limit to the number of tickets an individual is allowed to buy, so I assume that will once more be the case. BlizzCon ticket purchasing tips
BlizzCon tickets go on sale on April 24 at 7pm Pacific time, and again on April 27 at 10am Pacific. Apart from the usual tactics of getting your parents, cousins, and all your friends to refresh the ticket sale page on as many computers as you have at your disposal, there are some other things you need to do to prepare yourself for the ticket purchases. Blizzard Support Forum Agent Roraks has run down the vital list, so check his full posts after the break for more details, but we'll sum it up here: Create a Battle.net account. You probably have one of these already, but don't hold on until April 24 at 6.59pm to make one if you don't. Get ahead of the game! Add a payment method to your account. You'll need to pay for the tickets somehow, so adding one, or even several payment methods is a very good idea. Just in case your preferred one doesn't work, it's also a good idea to have a backup method available. If you've had your battle.net account all set up for a while, check that your payment methods are still valid and correct. Blizzard also recommend that you contact your bank, or financial institution, so that they don't assume a $175 payment to someone you usually give $14.99 is fraudulent. If they think it's fraud, they may block the transaction. Set up your cookies! If your browser is not set up to allow and automatically refresh cookies, you will be unable to move forward in the queue for tickets and may even lose your place within it. There are several guides linked in Roraks' post after the break. Keep an eye on your email! A confirmation will be sent there, if it doesn't show up you'll need to go back to the store to confirm it. BlizzCon tickets go on sale April 24 and 27
BlizzCon 2013 tickets are $175 and will go on sale at the following times: Wednesday, April 24 at 7 p.m. PDT Saturday, April 27 at 10 a.m. PDT BlizzCon takes place November 8 and 9 this year at the same place it's always been: the Anaheim Convention Center outside of LA. For those that cannot attend in person, a virtual ticket will be made available. And of course, we'll also have around the clock coverage on WoW Insider. Tickets to BlizzCon have normally sold out in seconds (literally), so you'll need to be at your computer at the times above, be very quick, and have a lot of luck in order to get one. Good luck! BlizzCon 2011 ticket barcodes are being sent out now
If you purchased an actual ticket to BlizzCon 2011 (as opposed to a Virtual Ticket), then you may want to start checking your inbox today. Blizzard has begun to mail out tickets to its respective lucky purchasers, and that might mean you! You can print out your ticket and just sort of look at it for a month. You can even fashion a crude lanyard for it from yarn and macaroni. Second wave of BlizzCon tickets goes on sale tonight
If you missed out on picking up a ticket to one of the hottest events of the year, then your last chance is coming up tonight. A second batch of BlizzCon tickets is set to go on sale at 10:00 p.m. EDT (7:00 p.m. PDT) later today for the high, high price of $175 a pop. Each ticket not only gets you into the two-day convention (October 21-22, 2011 in Anaheim, CA) but includes a goody bag and the option to purchase limited-time BlizzCon merchandise before the show. Once the tickets go on sale tonight, you'll have minutes -- an hour at most -- to head over to the BlizzCon website and place your order. Blizzard is limiting you to only four per household, so if you have a group of friends who want to come, they'll need to coordinate their purchases as well! This is the sixth BlizzCon since the event started in 2005. Last year's BlizzCon admitted over 27,000 fans to the shindig.
Second batch of BlizzCon tickets on sale Wednesday, May 25
Here's a quick reminder for everyone trying for BlizzCon 2011 tickets again -- the second batch of tickets is going on sale Wednesday, May 25 at 7 p.m. Pacific, 10 p.m. Eastern. The first batch of tickets sold out in seconds -- but unlike other years, not many problems were reported, and things went surprisingly smoothly. To purchase tickets, you'll need to go to Blizzard's BlizzCon tickets page. This is the page you are going to want to refresh constantly in order to purchase passes. Tickets sell out in literally seconds, so be quick with refreshing and clicking purchase. Once you click purchase, you'll be placed into a queue where you will wait for your chance to purchase tickets. If you are one of the lucky few, you'll be brought immediately to the purchase page. Tickets cost $175 each and are limited to four tickets per household/address. Here are some tips when attempting to purchase BlizzCon tickets: Log into your Battle.net account prior to going to the ticket page. The ticket queue will reach critical mass in seconds -- you need to refresh quickly and often. Start refreshing prior to the exact moment tickets go on sale. Everyone's clocks are different. Also, remember that the ticket information for each ticket you bought needs to be filled out and completed by June 10 at 8 p.m. Pacific time.
