While Control4 didn't make a lot of fuss about the few new products that it rolled out at CEDIA, people knew about 'em, regardless. Easily one of the most packed booths at the Expo, this one showcased the full gamut of wares offered up by the home automation outfit. We snapped images from every angle imaginable, and we even got a few with the new touch panels and remotes. Don't believe us? Just have a look at the gallery, it's all there.%Gallery-31303%

Harman International is comprised of a great many companies, so it's no surprise that it took two CEDIA booths to hold 'em all. We took our trusty camera through the both of 'em to check out the latest from the likes of Infinity, JBL, H/K and Mark Levinson, and we spotted JBL's fresh LS Series, Infinity's wireless subwoofers / Prelude Forty and a $15,000 SACD player from Levinson that made Sony's new $1,500 SCD-XA5400ES look dirt cheap. Have a walk around, the gallery's right down there.%Gallery-31302%

B&W, Rotel and Classe didn't go out of their way to announce anything new this CEDIA, but we couldn't resist the urge to wade on through their combined booth and snap a few shots. Of course, the lovely Zeppelin was getting an uncomfortable amount of attention, but even the more obscure hardware was seeing its fair share of onlookers. Say, why don't you become one by hitting up the gallery below? %Gallery-31295%

  • SpeakerCraft CEDIA 2008 booth tour: it's a jungle in there

There's zero doubt that SpeakerCraft paid good money for a hot spot on the CEDIA floor to showcase its wares, and there's also no denying that it had the zaniest booth at the entire Expo. From a dozen yards out, you could feel the bass pumping, you could sense the ground moving, and you could see the mass of people gathered at the SpeakerCraft installation. Upon heading over, we realized that it had brought along the jungle (and even its inhabitants), and we found all sorts of drivers hung up in trees and underneath canopies. Put simply, it was just too bizarre to not pass along, so here you go. %Gallery-31294%

  • CeBIT 2008: we're coming at you live from Hanover

Our sources tell us Hanover is somewhere in Germany, but that's all we've confirmed so far. Luckily, while we might fall short with this whole "geography" thing, we did manage to sneak onto the show floor here at CeBIT 2008. Most booths are still heavily under construction, but we did manage to pick up a few scoops before we passed out from the paint fumes. Check out the gallery below for some quick booth snaps and artistically-framed exhibit hall exteriors.%Gallery-17321%

Amid all the glittery stuff that is MWC, NTT DoCoMo has set up shop to show some of the stuff we will never have. Mobile gaming -- real gaming, not dodgy stuff -- mobile TV, waterproof sets, super-thin handsets, and a whole lot more was on display. After we wiped the silly grins off our faces, we remembered that pics were the order of the day so we took a good pile for your enjoyment. Kodak wasn't showing off too much new product at this year's show -- or if it was, none of the gear was stuff we follow -- but can you really get a good feel for a trade show without touring the booth of the company whose name is synonymous with photography? Of course not, which is why we gathered together a gallery which pretty well represents everything you'd see had you been here yourself. Isn't that great? We trudge out to Las Vegas so you don't have to.%Gallery-15096%

  • Canon's PMA 2008 booth tour

Canon's got a lot of product to fit under its umbrella, so the booth is quite the monster. Just about everything in the digital photo workflow is covered here, from the cameras (duh) right up to the final print. All interest/skill levels from amateur to pro are covered too. Check out all those lenses, only to be topped by what looked like a museum collection of Canon point-and-shoots. And yet, Canon found time and space to put in some really big, beautiful prints just to get you back to what photography is all about.%Gallery-15102%

Sony's booth has to be pretty big to hold all the imaging goodies, so here's a whirlwind tour of it. You know Sony's making a play for the big boys in the DSLR arena, so the alpha-series had a good amount of serious-looking real estate. The fleet of Sony point-and-shoots were also on display; with all the colors, shapes and sizes the display looked like a candy counter. Tech development also got some floor space, and the live demo of face detection used by Sony's Handycams was particularly fun.%Gallery-15073%

Step on down into Nikon's booth with us. Lots of goodies on display here, but what really struck us was how much the central section of the booth was taken up by (gasp!) photos. Seriously, it had a bit of a gallery feel, except with way more people. But we're here to get our geek on, so it's over to the gear counters we go! The stripped-down D3 body was nice, and Nikon showed off one in cross section as well, just so you don't have to cut your own in half. %Gallery-15070%

  • Apple Macworld booth tour

Apple's Macworld 2008 booth is naturally gargantuan this year, but practically empty -- that is, if you don't count the teeming hordes of people surrounding the MacBook Air table and watching the presentations on the big screen. Apple only has its new product on display, which means mainstays like regular iPods, iMacs, MacBooks and MacBook Pros were nowhere to be seen. The booth is fairly dominated by an end-to-end table filled with MacBook Airs and their respective Apple guardians. Time Capsule seems a bit of an afterthought, as does Apple TV.%Gallery-13922%

There aren't many thing more exciting to a geek, then walking around the show floor at the largest electronics show in the US of A, but unfortunately the consumer electronics show isn't for consumers. So we took the time to snap up as many pics as we could of every booth that we thought was interesting. While many of the booths are reused each year, the devices are not. Some of the booths are backed to the point that it's hard to walk around, while others are desolate. So if you want to live vicariously through us, click through and check out all the coolness.DISH Network's CES 2008 Booth tourNBC Universal's CES 2008 booth tourBlu-ray's CES 2008 booth tourHD DVD's CES 2008 booth tourSamsung's CES 2008 booth tourHP's CES 2008 booth tourSling Media's CES 2008 booth tourXStreamHD's CES 2008 booth tourMicrosoft's CES 2008 booth tourSony's CES 2008 booth tourPhilips's CES 2008 booth tourPioneer's CES 2008 booth tourLG's CES 2008 booth tourHitachi's CES 2008 booth tour

Besides having one of, if not, the best product showings at CES 2008, iriver also had one of the most high-tech booths. Gone were the booth babes and ignorant product hacks -- replaced instead by virgin-white cases and interactive displays which allowed their products to speak for themselves. Fortunately, we also had the chance to confirm one of the most peculiar icon choices in CE history: the raised-dog icon on their S7... yes, he's really treating the booth like his own personal fire hydrant. • RIM's CES 2008 booth tour

    by

No matter where we go, RIM seems to have this same booth style where all the good stuff (the phones, that is) are stuffed in a central nucleus, causing massive crowding. Don't get us wrong, it's entirely possible that's the effect RIM is shooting for, but heaven help us poor journalists try to get a shot of the goods contained within. The Canadian manufacturer didn't have any earth-shattering announcements for the show -- just a couple of new 8130 colors -- so the highlight has to be the giant Pearl that was harassing passers-by. Check out Engadget for the visuals!

We'll be honest, Mustek -- you're not exactly giving us a lot to work with. First you don't release any PR on your new products, then when we get to the booth, you seem unsure if you've even got new products. Of course, we did manage to find your suspiciously-Sharp-ish Blu-ray player, a new widgetified photo frame, and that lovely iPod dock. Check out our "tour" and see for yourself.%Gallery-13386%

Blu-ray's booth was a drastic change from their red neighbors; people were in line for swag, watching demos, playing with BD Live, and taking pictures with Homer and the huge pirate ship. We tried a little BD gaming as well, but we think we'll stick to just watching the movie. We did catch a glimpse of Panasonic's automotive Blu-ray player and 7-inch HD in dash display and let us tell you, we were impressed -- seriously you can see a difference even on a 7-inch screen.%Gallery-13361%

HD DVD and Blu-ray had their booths right next to each other and as you might expect the amount of traffic was night and day. As you can see in the pictures, the HD DVD booth was pretty desolate, but the seating at the stage was full of people watching the demonstration. We also tried to say hello to our friends in press relations, but like many people this late in the show, they already left. Gallery: HD DVD booth tour

Although DISH network's press conference is a little boring because they don't over sensationalize their news, we were impressed with their announcements. More HD channels and more local HD markets are always a good thing and although there were only eleven markets announced at the show, the map at the booth shows many more markets, that we hope is accurate. We also snapped a few pics of the new hardware.%Gallery-13355%

When we heard NBC would be recording NBC Nightly news on the show floor of CES, we wanted to stop by and learn what it takes to produce a remote HD newscast, but unfortunately the PR team never got back to us about access, so instead we took a few pics -- including pictures of Brian Williams preparing for the show. In addition, they had kiosks setup, and using a free 2GB USB memory stick you could download NBC Universal content -- locked down with WM DRM of course.%Gallery-13351%

In terms of layout, UTStarcom's booth is close to a dead ringer for its showing at last year's CES; just the promos and handsets have changed, basically. The darlings of the show have to be the HSM180, an absolutely bizarre HSDPA candybar featuring two circles for a keypad, and the TXT8010, a QWERTY slider with an attitude for CDMA networks. Check 'em out, yo.%Gallery-13261%
