If it wasn't already clear that Netflix has enough clout to get the biggest names in entertainment, it is now. The streaming service has posted its first teaser for War Machine, a satire of the war in Afghanistan starring a slew of major actors including Brad Pitt (whose company Plan B is involved), Tilda Swinton, Topher Grace, Anthony Michael Hall and Keith Stanfield. The clip offers a good hint as to what to expect from the movie: General McMahon (Pitt) has to fight the war while grappling with the government, the press and the gritty realities of battle.

Netflix has scored some big names for its exclusive content in the past, but its latest coup is one of its largest yet. The streaming video service is teaming up with Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment to produce War Machine, a satirical movie about the war in Afghanistan that will have Pitt playing a "rock star" general trying to juggle politics, the press and the realities of combat. The flick will reach Netflix sometime in 2016, although you'll also find it in "select" movie theaters that year if you have to see yet another Brad Pitt war movie on the silver screen.

With more and more phones featuring beefy processors, GPS, HSPA data, and compasses, augmented reality apps are ready to take off in a big way. Layar, in particular, is shaping up to be the platform of choice from which to overlay information onto the streets that surround you. This is great for serendipitous discovery of cafes, ATMs, real estate, and even jobs, but at what expense? Recently, we casually joked about the ability to "hunt down tweeps with cold, calculated precision." Now a Dutch crew from Beste Product took up the task by giving Layar and its "Famous People Finder" feature a real-world test on the streets of Amsterdam with the help of Samsung's i7500 Galaxy. The results are unsettling as demonstrated by the celebrities, including Brad Pitt's, reaction to being discovered. Is our near-term future to be filled with people laughing maniacally while pointing their cellphones at each other? The video is in Dutch, but the reaction that unfolds at 2 minutes and 40 seconds is universally human. See it after the break. [Via @Dutchcowboy]

Attention Fight Club lovers! You will be delighted to hear about Ten Seconds with Tyler Durden, a free app from OpenSoft Development. Every ten minutes, while the app is running, a quote from the movie pops up on your Mac to motivate you and entertain you. The app has only been tested on OS X 10.4, but it is open source so you can monkey around with the code if you like.I never thought I would be writing an entry on TUAW that would be accompanied with Brad Pitt's face.  Ain't the internet a funny place?
