Burn Zombie Burn, a dual-stick shooter released on PS3 and PC, will also be coming to Nvidia's Project Shield, the new Tegra-powered Android handheld device due around Q2.And this highlights the difficulty with covering weirdo devices like this one. When a game is said to be coming to Project Shield, that could mean a special Android version optimized for the device ... or it could technically mean the PC version can be streamed to the device. Which means that pretty much every PC game could have a similar announcement. In this case, it's a specialized Android version, although we suppose there would be nothing stopping you from streaming the PC version as well.

We're getting closer and closer to a PC launch of Burn Zombie Burn, the dual-stick shooter from Doublesix. Currently available on PSN, the game will be available for download on Steam in early August, according to the developer. Burn Zombie Burn places players in the shoes of Bruce, whose date with sweetheart Daisy is ruined one night by a pack of hungry undead. The PC version of the game adds a new Extreme difficulty and Survival mode, the latter of which pits Bruce against relentless waves of the undead.

Doublesix's twin-stick shooter Burn Zombie Burn is spreading like a zombie-fueled wildfire. Following the appearance of a PC version of the game on the ESRB database, Doublesix studio head James Brooksby confirmed plans for the release to Big Download. The title was originally developed as a PS3-exclusive, with assistance from Sony's Pub Fund. There's no definite release date, but the PC port will be distributed on Steam sometime in the next couple of months. As a rather nice bonus, the PC edition should include all of the PS3 version's DLC add-ons.

Though the PS3 Firmware Update 3.00 failed to bring about the grand, sweeping changes that most of us are waiting for, it's apparently been a boon for PSN developers. In an interview with GamesIndustry, Doublesix claimed that sales for Burn Zombie Burn jumped 40 percent following the update -- largely due to the fact that the downloadable title was featured in the What's New section, which is now the first thing that appears when the PS3 is turned on. According to Doublesix studio head James Brooksby, the PS3 start-up screen has always had a "40 inch advertising space waiting to be used," and that the introduction of the What's New menu is "a major step forward for the entire industry and the digital distribution sector." Obviously, Brooksby completely overlooked the true highlight of the console's latest update: The sparkles. Oh God, the sparkles!

PlayStation Home is getting another themed space, this time promoting the recently PSN exclusive Burn Zombie Burn. According to doublesix senior games designer Ollie Barder, the BZB Home space will a feature a maze populated with brain-munching zombies and will be placed within a graveyard, so players can frolic with the undead. Bigger than that, BZB is getting a dose of DLC with two new levels taking place in space (it's the final frontier, by the way). Release information or price for the DLC was not revealed. Check out a trailer of the new alien abduction-themed levels after the break.

Rock Player Rock! Kuju and doublesix have released a patch for the PSN-exclusive Burn Zombie Burn! enabling in-game custom soundtracks via music stored on the PS3's hard disk. This update also draws on Sony's development libraries to integrate video recording and uploading to YouTube into the game. (We're still scratching our braaaaains over why more developers haven't done this.)Boot up the game and the patch will automagically install itself, along with a trailer for the game's upcoming expansion, Burn Zombie Burn! In Space. We're guessing the action takes place inside of spaceships or space stations, since, despite decades of movies and TV shows teaching us otherwise, fire doesn't exactly do so well in a vacuum.

Announced during GDC 2009, Sony's development-cost-matching scheme, "Pub Fund," is already garnering praise from the first company to take advantage of it. Burn Zombie Burn studio Doublesix tells Develop that the program -- which matches a PSN game's production costs in royalties, in exchange for PS3 exclusivity -- is "invaluable," not only in terms of funding, but marketing support as well.James Brooksby, studio head of Doublesix, spoke to other developers, saying, "I think there's a number of other ways in which the Pub Fund can help you, not least because Sony suddenly has a more vested interest in your product's success." Since Sony is looking for a good return on its considerably sizable investment, not everyone can get on the Pub Fund. "Obviously there will be a level of quality expected from Sony's side, so not everyone will be suitable for Sony either," said Brooksby."We put a lot of money into the marketing of Burn Zombie Burn," Brooksby said. "And our own funding, along with Sony's, helped achieve great exposure for the game." That exposure has left the developer "absolutely delighted" with BZB's sales to date, and, according to Brooksby, the team is already at work on its next title -- no doubt with the assistance of the Fund.

Developers will have one big reason to make games exclusively on the PlayStation Network: money. Sony's Chris Eden spoke at GDC about a new program available for developers called "Pub Fund." In an effort to make the online service more lucrative, the Pub Fund deal has Sony matching development budgets of PSN-exclusive titles. "We're looking for a number of great games, and in return for exclusivity we'll match your development budget with guaranteed royalties," Eden said. The first game to be developed under the Pub Fund agreement is Burn Zombie Burn (pictured), available today on the PlayStation Store. The Pub Fund will entitle developers to financial assistance, without having to sacrifice their IPs. "This is not Sony buying your product," Eden noted. "You'll be the publisher, you'll own the IP and you'll control your product. This is assisting you to make your next step from developer to publisher."We're not sure what the fine print entails, but Pub Fund sounds like an overall "win" for developers. Not much is known about the upcoming PlayStation Network game, Burn Zombie Burn. But, we're pretty certain you can deduce what you do from the title. The developers have released a gameplay video, and guess what? You burn zombies. You burn a lot of zombies. The number of characters on screen is absolutely ridiculous -- we wouldn't have it any other way. The gameplay looks like a lot of fun, but we're not sure how well our nerves will fare having to survive each massive zombie horde.[Via GamerBytes]

Burn Zombie Burn! is a new PSN game releasing early Q1 2009. From the looks of things, it appears to be another dual-analog shooter. But don't expect giant asteroids, bacteria, or aliens -- this one's all about zombies. You play Joe, an average dude looking to spend some "quality time" with his girlfriend Daisy. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worse when a zombie invasion takes over their quaint American town. Don't you HATE it when that happens???Thankfully, Joe will have a wide assortment of tools to take care of the zombie menace. Fire builds up the multiplier, important if you wan to compete on the online leaderboards. The title appears to support 1080p visuals, and will also include PSN Trophy support.
