  • Rogue glyph changes in patch 5.0.4

When the new 5.0 patch flips over on Aug. 28, will you be ready with glyphs? Blizzard is recycling old glyphs instead of making new spell IDs and charring old ones. Some glyphs are staying the same, some are new, but some share IDs with old Cataclysm glyphs. Below is our list of new or changing glyphs for rogues. This is not a list of changing tooltips, just which glyphs you ought to have if you want to automatically have the new glyphs when the patch flips over. Rogues have no brand new glyphs and are keeping most glyph names. Glyphs that are changing into new majors: Sinister Strike becomes Adrenaline Rush Rupture becomes Cheap Shot Fan of Knives becomes Deadly Momentum Eviscerate becomes Debilitation Revealing Strike becomes Detection Deadly Throw becomes Recuperate Adrenaline Rush becomes Shadow Walk Slice and Dice becomes Shiv Preparation becomes Smoke Bomb Shadow Dance becomes Stealth Glyphs that are changing into new minors: Backstab becomes Decoy Mutilate becomes Disguise It's open warfare between Alliance and Horde in Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft's next expansion. Jump into five new levels with new talents and class mechanics, try the new monk class, and create a pandaren character to ally with either Horde or Alliance. Look for expansion basics in our Mists FAQ, or dig into our spring press event coverage for more details!

  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to include new Decoy grenade and balance tweaks

Officially, Valve hasn't given us much more than a name for Counter-Strike Global Offensive, but unofficially, they've invited a bevy of pro-gamers to the HQ to play it already. G4 got a hold of one of those pros, and Craig "Torbull" Levin from eSports Entertainment Association, has shared some details on the game he saw. It sure sounds a lot like Counter-Strike -- of course there will be new models and animations, but the maps are all the old familiar kind: Dust, Dust2, Inferno, Nuke, and Train. There are some new maps to play on, and new weapons, including a new heavy machine gun, a new range of shotguns specifically for close-up combat, and a Molotov cocktail grenade, expensive and designed for strategically cutting off a certain area on the map. There's another new grenade called a Decoy that sounds cool: It'll send out a burst of gunfire from wherever it's thrown, confusing the enemy team into thinking there's action there. That's still being tweaked (the gunfire might be from specific weapons or just the generic enemy firearms), along with weapons strength and various experiments like giving everyone kevlar at round start, or making the CT defuse kit a special item like the Terrorist bomb. Sounds interesting -- and still very under development. We'll see the game later on this month at PAX, and let you know more then.

  • Decoy swarm has the potential to protect attacking jets with hundreds of drones

MALDs (miniature air launched decoys), for those of you not up on your wargadgets, are a cross between cruise missiles and aerial drones -- a hybrid used to protect attacking jets by confusing or distracting the enemy during combat. Various branches of the US military have been using them for years, but now one company's figured out a way to unleash hundreds of 'em, creating a veritable drone swarm. Defense contractor Raytheon has developed a system that ejects MALDs from a cargo aircraft, sending clusters of eight missiles into the air, at which point they initiate the standard wing deployment and engine ignition sequence. And, according to Wired, the company is considering putting sensors and warheads inside future MALDs, which would make these swarms more intelligent and, you know, explosive. PR after the break. • Limited Edition LG Decoy is predictably uninspiring

Nary a month after launching on Verizon Wireless, LG's Decoy is apparently ready for a limited edition makeover. Yeah, we're a bit miffed at why this handset -- of all devices -- deserves a LE model, but we digress. Reportedly, the new iteration will simply include a Bluetooth desktop charger with integrated speaker, and it'll run $20 more on a 2-year contract than the vanilla $179 model. Way to make yourself feel special, Decoy.

  • Verizon's LG Decoy gets a quick once over: handset's great, headset's not

LaptopMag whipped out a quick review of Verizon's newest cell phone with piggybacking Bluetooth headset and for the most part, they like. The LG Decoy does seem to shine -- in fact they call it brilliant -- the pairing process with the headset's a breeze, they love that it charges while nestled in the back of the handset, and when not using little stowaway, the speakerphone is loud. Of course, there seem to be a few drawbacks, headset battery life is a pitiful 2 hours, the two-in-one combo at 4.1 ounces is a tad hefty, wind noise is a serious problem, and at $179 after discount, it's pricey. Follow the read link to read the rest and see a few more pics of it in action.

The Decoy, that glossy gray slider from LG that looks totally normal until you flip it on its front and realize there's a full-fledged Bluetooth headset hitching a ride on back, is now available for purchase from Verizon. The $179.99 you're shelling out on contract after rebates might seem a little pricey, but when you consider that you don't have to spend any extra for a handsfree, that takes a bit of the edge off.[Thanks, lucas]

We've already been treated to some specs, press shots, and pricing info, and now the gents at Mobileslate have given us a bunch of nice unboxing pics to round out the affair. Hopefully we're still on for Monday, June 16th launch date as these pics and that crafty Bluetooth headset snapped in the back have us feeling fairly curious. Follow on for a whack of nice pics.[Thanks, Eric]

So, what do you do after announcing your intentions to spend nearly $30 billion on America's fifth largest carrier? Why, you announce a trio of new phones for the summertime, that's what. Verizon Wireless is trumpeting the launch of the Dare (pictured), Decoy and Chocolate 3, all of which are being provided by LG. As for the Dare, you'll find 3G, V CAST, VZ Navigator and a 3.2-megapixel camera, while the Decoy becomes the world's first handset with a Bluetooth headset integrated into its body. Finally, the Chocolate 3 goes all flip-phone on us and includes an FM transmitter, twin speakers, 1GB of internal storage, 2-megapixel camera and V CAST support. Unfortunately, VZW hasn't dished out official details on pricing just yet, but you can find out for sure when they go on sale later this month, June 16th and sometime in July (in order of mention).

Seems that rumored June release window for LG's VX8610 (Decoy) was right on. phoneArena has it that the peculiar slider will be launching just over a fortnight from now on June 16th, and if you're looking to get one with a 2-year contract, the pricing isn't so bad ($179). It also mentions a $249 post-rebate price with a 1-year agreement and a $349 sticker if you aren't signing any dotted line other than the credit card receipt. Guess it's wait-and-see from here, yeah?

We're seeing an awful lot of this thing lately, which we take as a positive sign that a rumored June launch is still a very solid possibility. The LG VX8610, alias "Decoy," earns its stripes with a curious integrated Bluetooth headset that should draw its fair share of curious onlookers once it's finally tethered to kiosks in a few weeks. Say, how are they going to secure the headset on the dummy, anyway? Glue?[Thanks, anonymous tipster]%Gallery-23554%

  • Trio of LGs get dated for Verizon?

phoneArena appears to have scored information on exactly when Verizon will be (or would like to be, anyway) releasing three new models from LG, all of which should be attracting some serious attention in their own right. Headlining the group is the VX9700 "Dare" -- Verizon's Prada-alike, if you recall -- which is allegedly now being targeted for a July 4 online release and an in-store launch shortly thereafter (we'd say those dates put it at risk of cannibalization from the Glyde, but the Dare'll win the photography battle with a 3.2 megapixel sensor versus the Glyde's measly 2). Next up, the trick VX8610 with the internal Bluetooth headset has apparently been christened "Decoy" and is tracking for May 30 online and June 9 in store. Finally, the VX8650 Chocolate Flip gets ready to mercilessly slaughter its VX8600 predecessor come June 24 on your trusty web browser with brick-and-mortar locations getting theirs in July. Naturally, launch dates tend to have the solidity of Jello, so don't be dropping your life savings on any wagers here with your shady friends. Not yet, anyway.
