Barbie's new connected Hello Dreamhouse may not have a Nest thermostat, but we still saw many other smart-home features at Toy Fair this week -- as many as an 11.5-inch plastic doll might need from a $299 plastic house, anyway.

  • Felicia Day says The Guild comic is coming in Spring 2010

Felicia Day told us back at BlizzCon that she was going to go undercover for a little while as The Guild's latest season wrapped up, but undercover for this woman seems to mean that she's only in two TV shows and prepping for a comic book release. She showed up in last night's Lie to Me episode, singing, and in this interview over at Newsarama from the Video Game Awards with Sandeep Parikh (who himself just showed up in Tiki Bar TV -- slightly NSFW, language) she says she's still working on the unfortunately canceled Dollhouse as well. So that's where Eliza Dushku got her addiction from. She also says that the Dark Horse published Guild comic book is due out in spring of next year -- Jim Rugg is working on the art right now -- and fans of The Guild may even get a little Christmas present from the show and Microsoft. We'll keep an eye out for that for sure. So even though we're in between seasons (and we assume that season 4 is upcoming next year, even though we haven't heard an official announcement on that yet), there's lots of Guild goodness to go around.

  • Eliza Dushku starts playing WoW

Alright, so maybe she's only picked it up after almost five years of the game being out, but it looks like actress Eliza Dushku has started to play World of Warcraft. The actress, who broke into the nerd radar when she played a renegade Slayer in Joss Whedon's Buffy, tweeted yesterday asking her followers whether she should roll Alliance or Horde. The tweet made a small ripple across the nerdverse. The Dollhouse star, whose new show is getting pummeled in the ratings, received a number of responses on Twitter, most of them telling her to roll a Horde Blood Elf. We certainly hope she bucks the trend, though... Dear Eliza, Please roll a female Tauren Druid. Sincerely, Zach Dushku isn't the first actress or celebrity to publicly reveal a geeky side, and certainly not the first, uh, cryogenically-challenged female to play the game. There's Mila Kunis from That 70's Show, Guild creator and star Felicia Day, or even gaming event staple Kat Hunter, so the actress' firing up WoW probably isn't that big a deal. I mean, it's really okay to be geeky. There's nothing to it. Even girls play video games. It's also stipulated in the nerd handbook that we should play them in our underwear. The Chewbacca one.

If we were miniature people forced to scrape by an existence of hiding from The Bigs and wearing adorable hats made out of thimbles, we'd be totally eyeing this little abode for our winter digs. Warming our tiny, oh-so-precious hands at the warmth of the CPU, cradling our hot chocolate mugs that are really hollowed out marshmallows and telling stories of when little Timmy Tinykins almost got sucked out the power supply exhaust fan! Oh, what magical times we would have. [Thanks, CJ Johnson]

  • 12th scale Dolls House TV actually functions, keeps Polly Pocket entertained

Generally speaking, when your good toys go bad, sitting them down within a cramped up doll house is adequate punishment. Unfortunately, said tactic is no longer valid if your kiddo's doll house is equipped with a Dolls House TV. This handcrafted 12th scale television -- which is just barely taller than a AA battery -- is built to feel right at home in Barbie's domicile, and considering that it features composite inputs, you can even watch a DVD or play Guitar Hero while trying not to squint. Granted, we can't see paying £99 ($195) for this thing, but don't believe for a second that some rug rats aren't already screaming for one.[Via NewsLite]

  • Even the other toys love Wii: gaming on a 1.5-inch dollhouse TV

We didn't even know that functional 1.5-inch TVs existed, but if we had one, you can bet that we'd hook up our Wii to it, pronto. This video on Gamebrink.com shows the Wii totally dwarfing the monitor, (there's a cameo appearance by a pack of Kent cigarettes) but nevertheless, it clearly shows a functional console doing all of the normal Wii-type activities. We can't imagine that playing a Wii on a screen tinier than our cell phone is a good idea, but it's bound to brighten up any dollhouse living room, that's for sure. At least this way, the minuscule screen will be a smaller target for those flying Wiimotes we've been hearing about. [Thanks, J]

  • Video games for dollhouses

Wonderland has found some miniature video game consoles for your... doll house? If your dolls are bored of their nightmare existence of endless tea parties give 'em a Sega Genesis system, complete with SegaCD, 32X, and Master System adaptor. Your dolls aren't fans of the 16-bit generation you say? Then they should get a kick out of this complete Famicom set, or these playable tabletop arcade games. Too bad you can't actually play the Genesis or Famicom on this actual working TV video game. This is seriously weird; I'm sort of creeped out.
