Dolphin browser for Android adds redesigned UI, new store for web apps
Dolphin has done a pretty fine job when it comes to keeping its browser loaded with plenty of handy features, both on Android and iOS. Now, the Dolphin's hit version 10 for Android, bringing along an array of things including a revamped user interface, drag-and-drop support for speed dials on the home screen, additional swipe-based gestures and a new store for web-based applications. Dolphin web browser becomes the first to integrate Evernote Web Clipper
If you're fan of Evernote on your desktop and mobile devices, but prefer the browsing experience of the third-party Dolphin app for iOS, today is your lucky day. In a new update to the popular browser, Dolphin is adding Evernote Web Clipper integration, allowing you to capture and annotate practically any chunk of web content with a single tap. Users will be able to save web pages directly to Evernote from Dolphin, making it the first mobile browser to offer such compatibility. The update also adds a new feature called Dolphin Connect which can capture tabs, web images, and other content from your desktop browser and sync it with your mobile device. Dolphin unveils Garage, API access for add-ons and web apps
The Dolphin browser has earned quite a following, by offering a healthy mix of speed and features. Now the company is opening up its offerings to further expansion though an open API service called Garage. The new portal opens up 150 APIs to third party developers who might want to build upon Dolphin's solid browser base, or integrate their web apps. As part of the launch of the Garage, four new add-ons have been added to the Dolphin repository. Dropbox, Evernote, Pocket and Wikipedia all now tie directly in to the browser's UI, exposing all the important features of those services. Dolphin launches Engine browser beta, claims it's got what it takes to be number one in speed stakes
Dolphin reckons the beta version of its new browser is the fastest HTML5 browser on Android. While the app looks largely unchanged, its creators have added in a raft of enhanced features behind the scenes, including text rendering, GPU accelerated canvas rendering and optimizations for CPU and GPU team-ups. They claim that Dolphin Engine runs up to ten times faster than the default Android browser, while it'll also perform 100 percent faster than Chrome, if the timing's right, with the beta peaking over 450 on a web-based HTML5 test, leaving rival Android browsers choking on its rich web fumes. Dolphin Browser arrives in BlackBerry App World, now with developer's permission
Everybody loves happy endings, so it's with this in mind that we bring you news of the official "sanctioned" arrival of Dolphin Browser within the BlackBerry App World. At version 7.2, this app isn't quite as fresh as its native Android counterpart -- which sits at version 7.5 in the Play Store and offers Sonar voice features -- but it still brings its webzine and gesture-driven mannerisms that many appreciate. As you may recall, this isn't the first time that the Dolphin Browser has graced the App World, but this time around, it was submitted by MoboTap -- so yeah, they know it's in there.
