Live-streaming platform Caffeine entered an already-crowded marketplace last year, but with a focus on celebrity-orientated channels (Offset was the first major star to join) it aimed to offer something a little different to the likes of Twitch and Mixer. Now it's scored a massive win, signing an exclusive multi-year livestreaming partnership with Drake.

The long-awaited third season -- made a reality thanks to Canadian megastar Drake --- will pick up from where it left off, with Dushane returning to the gritty streets of London to reclaim his crown as king of the underground drug business. Drake sparks hundreds of fake eBay listings for Steph Curry's hair lint

Aubrey Graham, better known to the world as Drake, is basically a human meme. He has this uncanny ability to make people on the internet want to turn anything he does into viral content. Drake also happens to be an ultimate troll. Last night, during game one of the 2019 NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors, he exchanged some words with superstar Steph Curry. As that was happening, Drake seemingly took a moment to pull lint out of Curry's hair. That may seem strange, but you should know that Drake has Curry's number tattooed on his arm. Yes, even though he's a Raptors fan. After the game, which the Raptors won, Drake then had an exchange with another Warriors player: Draymond Green, who was on the receiving end of something along the lines of "you're trash."

On the heels of his Grammy win for Best Rap Song, Drake revealed on Instagram that his 2009 mixtape So Far Gone is coming to streaming services for the first time. Though it was originally available for free online, this marks the first streaming availability for the 18-track collection that features cameos from Lil Wayne, Santigold, Trey Songz, Bun B and more. The mixtape also includes the single "Say What's Real," which was produced by Kanye West.

After being Spotify's top-streamed artist in 2015 and 2016, Drake had an off-year in 2017, but he's back in force this year. He was the top-streamed artist with the top-streamed album (Scorpion) and song (God's Plan) in 2018. With 8.2 billion streams this year alone, Drake also became Spotify's most-played artist of all time. Rounding out the the top five were Post Malone, XXXTenacion, J Balvin and Ed Sheeran, who took the streaming crown in 2017.

Someone may have hacked Drake's 'Fortnite' account

Drake is a fairly knowledgeable Fortnite player, but he might have a thing or two to learn about online security. While famed game streamer Ninja was running a charity event on November 23rd, a "Duddus647" account joined his Fortnite game, possibly using Drake's Epic Games account name rather than his usual PS4 handle ("TheBoyDuddus"). However, whoever was using that account was very clearly not Drake. After some silence, it became clear that this most definitely wasn't the Canadian rap superstar -- the person suddenly unleashed a string of racist slurs that forced Ninja to leave the game.

Drake's commitment to gaming is going well beyond the occasional star-studded Twitch stream. As part of an investment round, the Canadian rap giant (along with entertainment mogul Scooter Braun) now has co-ownership of 100 Thieves, a "lifestyle, apparel and esports" company founded by retired Call of Duty player Matt "Nadeshot" Haag and backed by Cleveland Cavaliers chairman Dan Gilbert. Drake and Braun will serve as strategic advisors while the company expands its competitive gaming to more titles and grows its apparel business.

Drake's latest streaming record: first artist to 50 billion streams

    by

    08.09.2018

All year Drake has been on a streak of smashing streaming records, including 1 billion album streams in a week, single-day records for Apple Music and Spotify (and then again) and even had a hand in Ninja's record-setting Twitch session. Now his label Universal Music Group has announced Drake is the first artist to top 50 billion streams total across all streaming platforms. According to Billboard, Drake is nearing Taylor Swift's record for topping its Artist 100 chart. With a career that has risen along with digital music distribution, it's not a shock to see this Canadian's name topping every record, but we do wonder who will be next to hit the mark, and how far away 100 billion is. Of course, that could depend on whether or not Pusha-T keeps digging, and if Drake can maintain his occasionally dangerous reign over memes.

Drake might be the king of memes, but the latest, for his track In My Feelings, has attracted the wrong kind of viral attention. The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is asking fans to please, please, not do that #InMyFeelings challenge that involves jumping out of a moving car and dancing. On top of that, drivers should definitely not film said challengers, as that's equally stupid and in violation of pretty much all the distracted driving laws.

Drake's new album is the first to stream 1 billion times in a week

We know, we know -- you're probably tired of hearing about Drake's new album setting records and otherwise dominating the internet. However, this is one record that's worth noting whether or not you care about the Toronto rapper's latest tracks. Billboard has learned that Scorpion is the first album to surpass 1 billion streams worldwide in a single week, regardless of service. That's well past Post Malone, whose Beerbongs & Bentleys managed "just under" 700 million global streams. Drake's US figures alone were reportedly enough to topple his rival at 750 million (Post Malone 'only' managed 413.3 million American streams) -- and yes, that's another record.

Drake has done it again. And no, we're not talking about him repeatedly smashing Apple Music and Spotify streaming records. We're talking about one of his tracks being turned into meme gold. This time it's the track "In My Feelings" from his new record, Scorpion. The internet has taken the lyrics and turned them into a dance that's about to conquer social media. What seems to resonate with his fans the most is the chorus, in which Drake asks, "Kiki, do you love me? Are you riding? Say you'll never ever leave from beside me. 'Cause I want ya and I need ya." Anyone who listens to Drake regularly knows he's always been an unapologetic emotional dude, and people love to turn his brooding and confessionals into viral fodder.

Spotify users request refunds after over-the-top Drake promotion

Last week, Drake smashed the single-day record for total number of album streams on Spotify with the release of his new record Scorpion, but the artist had some help in making that happen. Spotify placed Drake prominently on its playlists, effectively allowing the artist to "take over" the music service over the weekend. While Drake fans were likely pleased, others weren't exactly thrilled about this turn of events. Some premium subscribers even went as far to demand refunds from Spotify for the service's placement of advertisements on accounts that are supposed to be ad-free.

Drake smashes single-day Apple Music and Spotify records (again)

Drake is back to breaking streaming music records, although this time he's getting a helping hand. To start, Apple has confirmed that the man from the 6 smashed his own single-day record on its music service, with his album Scorpion resulting in over 170 million streams inside of 24 hours (More Life managed "just" 89.9 million streams). We've asked Spotify for its own details, but it did inform Variety that Drake did break the record. Estimates have the star racking up about 132.4 million chart-eligible streams on launch day, trouncing Post Malone's 78.7 million streams. At one point, Spotify revealed that people were streaming Scorpion over 10 million times per hour -- that's a high rate of Champagne Papi consumption by any standard.

Twitch streamer Tyler "Ninja" Blevins smashed the record for concurrent viewers, crossing the 635,000 mark, mostly due to who he's playing Fortnite with: music megastar Drake. It's not all Drake or the popular battle royale game though, as Ninja is the most popular streamer on the platform -- he has over 3 million followers and with over 160,000 paid subscribers, an estimated monthly income of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Back in February Twitch confirmed that the record number of concurrents for an individual had been set at over 388,000 by Dr. Disrespect, but now there's a new champ.
