The just-finished Euro 2016 tournament had its share of exciting goals, but how do you decide which ones were the most thrilling? If you're Twitter, you leave it up to code. The social service has posted an interactive chart that shows the most exciting goals from the football/soccer tourney as judged by a peak detection algorithm sifting through tweets. It didn't just count the sheer number of tweets in response to a goal, either -- each goal counts as a percentage of a game's tweets, so group stage matches carry as much weight as those from the knockout rounds.

France releases terror alert app in time for Euro 2016
With the Euro 2016 football tournament starting on June 10th, France has unveiled a smartphone app that alerts users to terrorist attacks. Called SAIP (System to alert and inform the population), it allows you to opt-in to geolocalization or select up to eight regions to monitor. If you're at a game where an attack has occurred, your smartphone will display an alert screen, otherwise, you'll get a notification. It will also advise users on what do do, with instructions like "take shelter" and "stay down," according to France's Ministry of the Interior.
Euro 2016 social activity will determine Eiffel Tower's colors
The UEFA Euro 2016 soccer tournament kicks off next week, and fans will have the opportunity to show their team spirit via the Eiffel Tower. Tournament sponsor Orange, a French wireless carrier, will light up the Paris landmark in the colors of the most popular team based on social media activity across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Posts will be counted from 12:01 AM until 9:30 PM local time the following evening during the month-long event set to take place in France. At that time, the team/nation with the most activity will have its colors displayed on the iconic structure.
Some Euro 2016 soccer games will be shot in virtual reality
The Union of European Football Association, more commonly known as UEFA, has revealed that it will be filming matches in virtual reality at the Euro 2016 Finals. The tournament, which takes places in France starting June 10th, brings together the best 24 teams from Europe -- including England, Germany, Spain and Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal. According to The Daily Mirror, UEFA is going to use dozens of Nokia's $60,000 OZO cameras to capture 360-degree video inside stadiums, although it's unclear what the organization plans to do with the footage.
