Hulu has announced a deal with 20th Century Fox that will see the majority of Fox's animated sitcoms sticking with the platform. The most notable new addition to the service is King of the Hill, all 13 seasons of which are now available to stream. In addition, Hulu will cement itself as the exclusive online home of pretty much every Fox cartoon worth mentioning, including Bob's Burgers, Family Guy and Futurama.

Samsung found a new smart home evangelist in 'Family Guy'

Samsung gives me smart home fatigue. Enough about Smart Things, enough about how a thousands-of-dollars TV can connect to a new thousand-dollar fridge or washing machine. Enough beautiful families showcasing features in beautiful houses that I can only dream of living in. Samsung's leaning on augmented reality and some Family Guy branding to show the kind of tasks that can be accomplished with connected home assistance -- and make it a little more, well, friendly. With Samsung Galaxy Note 9 in hand, I pointed the camera at an AR doormat to calibrate to the empty room, transforming it into the Griffin household you know and love/tolerate.

The Jetson family is coming back to television. ABC has ordered a put pilot for a live-action reboot of the animated series, Variety reports. The show is said to be a multi-cam sitcom set 100 years in the future and the project is being executive produced by Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke while Gary Janetti -- who has written for Family Guy and Will & Grace, among others -- is set to write.

Pinball FX creator Zen Studios released a bundle this week featuring tables from Archer, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers and American Dad. The pack, called Balls of Glory, is available now across PS3, PS4, Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Windows 10, Steam, Android and iOS (whew). And all of this exists because of a tweet, as Zen Studios VP of Publishing Mel Kirk explains.

  • ITV snatches rights to new 'Family Guy' episodes from the BBC

For as long as we can remember, BBC Three has been home to the animated comedy shows Family Guy and American Dad. The channel is being taken off the airwaves later this year, morphing into an online-only brand to save the Beeb some dough, and leaving a question mark over where the popular programmes would end up. And now we know the answer. Come autumn this year -- around the time BBC Three as we know it will cease to exist -- the 15th series of Family Guy will start airing exclusively on ITV2. As part of a multi-year deal with Twentieth Century Fox, ITV has also picked up the rights to new and existing seasons of American Dad, all four series of Family Guy spin-off The Cleveland Show, and Seth McFarlane's upcoming animated sitcom, Bordertown.

  • Family Guy is coming to iOS with the help of TinyCo and Fuzzy Door

Mobile games based on cartoons are big business. Simpsons Tapped Out alone has made US$100 million since it launched in 2012, and that game is free to play. In keeping with tradition, Family Guy will now follow in the footsteps of the Simpsons once again with the release of its own mobile game -- but this one sounds a little more complicated than Tapped Out. Fox Digital, which also owns Tapped Out, has big plans for the title. In a profile on Polygon, the game, currently in development by Tiny Castle makers TinyCo, is described as an adventure that will focus on a story arc. Resource development will still be part of the game because, let's face it: Freemium is really profitable model and people will always pay for more doughnuts, beers or gems to build their empires faster. The game's story will be developed by Seth MacFarlane's production company, Fuzzy Door. According to The Wrap, the developers have designed the game to be played in short increments, basically turning your interaction with the game into a Family Guy cutaway gag in your real life. If you're worried the game won't be keeping true to the show's particular brand of evil humor, put your fears to bed. Andrew Green of TinyCo told Polygon in an interview that "nothing is sacred and nothing's safe. It's not going to be completely fourth-wall breaking. We want you to feel like you're playing the show." Given the insane amount of taboos Family Guy is known for regularly tackling, murdering and then setting on fire, this game has a lot to live up to. Head over to Polygon for their article on the game, including perspective from Fox Digital Entertainment's vice president, Rick Phillips.

Xbox Live frontman Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson) took to his blog on Tuesday to announce that Dish and Verizon FiOS customers can now download the Fox Broadcast app for Xbox 360 to stream next-day Fox programming. In order to use this free app, you'll need a paid Xbox Live Gold subscription. In addition to keeping you up to date with recent episodes of Fringe and Family Guy, this new app also includes access to legacy series such as House and 24. Like most things Xbox, the Fox Broadcasting app features Kinect integration, because everything is "better with Kinect," right?

While Family Guy's first widescreen 720p episode was the premiere over a week ago, this week's episode was the first to show off the new widescreen intro sequence, but not before kicking things by poking fun at an old classic. Just like Joe Buck and Curt Menefee did for Fox's new 16x9 football broadcast, they highlighted how much extra you can see in the new widescreen format with a revisionist look at the Brady Bunch. Check the episode we mentioned during this week's podcast on Hulu (embedded after the break) for the clip and a quick laugh.

  • Microsoft ditches Family Guy special... for being Family Guy

Face? Meet palm. Microsoft's decided to pull out of its co-sponsoring of "Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show" after execs attending the taping came to the sudden conclusion that Family Guy-caliber jokes were to be told, tackling such topics as "deaf people, the Holocaust, feminine hygiene and incest." We're not sure how 10 years and over 120 episodes of offensive precedence bypassed Redmond's radars, but man, that's gotta be some strong personal bubble. A Microsoft representative said of the taping, "it became clear that the content was not a fit with the Windows brand." The show will still air November 8th, pre-recorded Microsoft references in tow, but with a new as-of-yet unnamed sponsor. All we have of the now-doomed partnership is this brief video from the Windows "741" student site -- it's after the break. [Via The Raw Feed]

  • Windows 7-branded 'Family Guy' special to air November 8th

Of all Microsoft's advertising moves, this certainly falls in more clever side of the spectrum. Redmond et al. have announced they'll be "sponsoring" a November 8th variety special on Fox, "Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show." The episode'll be a mix of live-action musical performance and animated shorts with the usual celebrity cameos you've come to expect. This show will be commercial free, so long as you don't count all the Windows 7 that'll somehow be integrated -- and that's the most interesting mystery of all, how Microsoft will get its brand recognition without too many jabs from showrunner Seth McFarlane and company. If you don't recall the last time McFarlane teamed up with a big company to enliven its image, check out video from "Burger King presents Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy," a venture also done in tandem with one of the ad agencies responsible for this new deal, Crispin, Porter & Bogusky. It's just after the break. Update: As commenter Zebb reminded us, Bill Gates pulled off a cameo in Frasier "answering caller questions" about Windows XP. We couldn't help but add it to the post just below, jump to the 2:20 mark for the relevant scene.

  • Rumour: Fox to include iTunes files with DVDs starting 15th Jan

    by

    01.08.2008

We heard a while back that Apple and the movie studios were in negotiations over movie rentals, and there were mentions of iPod compatible movie files being shipped with DVDs. Of course, to be able to legitimately import DVDs (without resorting to Handbrake) has been a pipe dream for consumers. But not for much longer, it would appear -- that is, if you're a buyer of a particular Fox TV animated series on DVD. Tipster Stewart sent us a note saying he'd received a Family Guy (Blue Harvest) DVD ahead of the January 15th release (coincidence?) and that an iPod-compatible version, branded as a "Fox Digital Copy file," was included on the disc. The only downside was that the disc "requires iTunes version 7.6." We were both sceptical and interested, naturally, and he was gracious enough to send over two shots of the offending article, possibly lifting the lid on some of the iTunes news we can expect next Tuesday. Check the shots out after the jump, keeping your eyes peeled for the (over-zealous) "serial number" that appears to be required to access this digital copy as with existing Fox titles. Thanks Stewart!

Variety reports that Fox has partnered with Microsoft to become a new content provider for the Video Marketplace. The first batch of content from Fox will be the first two seasons of the fan favorite, Family Guy. Also coming to the Video Marketplace is the DVD movie Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin -- the Untold Story (otherwise known as "the Stewie movie"). New seasons of the show will be arriving soon and new episodes are expected to be available the day after they air.Of course, Fox has more to offer than Family Guy, but Microsoft and the studio felt the series was a good match for the demographic that has been downloading scads of programs like South Park and movies like 300. If Family Guy isn't your thing, don't worry, there will be plenty of Fox content on Video Marketplace before long.[Via MEGATONik. Thanks, zizzy]

Video game fans and awkwardly-inserted references to animated comedy Family Guy go together like deaf guys and grease, so the announcement of the show's arrival on the Video Marketplace seems like a natural fit. Before you start making plans to ditch your Sunday night watching ritual, you should know that you'll only be able to get the first two seasons next week along with the feature length Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story. But hey, if you've somehow missed seeing every episode of Family Guy 20 times between Fox reruns, Adult Swim and those DVDs your stoner friend Mike left at your house, you'll be able to catch up on Sept. 2. Giggity giggity goo.

Playstation 3 owners will have something other than Virtua Fighter 5 to choose from this week as Sony will be releasing two new titles for their online service and a relic from the past in demo form. The long awaited aquatic enigma FlOw will be making its way to the Playstation Network with a price tag of $7.99. Joining it will be the perpetually-hopping, foul mouthed, not to mention terrible roommate known as Q-Bert. We may not have anything nice to say about the guy, but his game is a classic and will be available for $4.99. And in case you passed it up at launch, a free demo of Ridge Racer 7 will be made available and capable of that magical resolution of 1080p.

  • Top 100 selling games of 2006

    by

Next Generation has the top 100 selling games for 2006 and the only PSP exclusive game on the list is Daxter coming in at number 92 with 240,000 copies sold. That sounds quite bad on paper until you realize that multi-system games make up most of the list and the vast majority had a PSP iteration (like Family Guy and NFL Street 3). So while there may not be many PSP exclusives on the list, it did undoubtedly help several titles on the list reach their respective positions. I would be very curious to see the overall year's worth of just PSP games. I also can't help but hope that this week's Ratchet & Clank fairs as well as Daxter. What PSP game that didn't make the list do you wish was a top 100 seller?

  • Sony marketing asks you to "Find Me"

I've been looking for days to find a direct-feed version of Sony's new commercial, entitled "Find Me." Unfortunately, I couldn't. "Find Me" is part of Sony's newly revamped PSP marketing plan. It tells the touching story of a man who must find a girl through a Memory Stick loaded with clues in photo and video form. A hard-to-get girl that plays with a PSP must be worth the effort of running around the city. The ad can be seen on shows like Family Guy, The Daily Show, and Sports Center."The PSP system has already been established as a popular gaming handheld, but it was designed to do so much more -- from playing music and videos to sharing photos and accessing the Internet," said Peter Dille, senior vice president of marketing, SCEA. "These marketing initiatives deliver the broader PSP brand message and offer PSP owners the entertainment experience they're thirsting for from a content perspective."[Via GameDaily]

  • IGN picks its top 10 PSP games for this holiday

    11.16.2006

Just in time for next week's infamous Black Thursday, IGN has released its 2006 Holiday Buyer's Guide and has also added their 10 choices for PSP games that should fill your stockings this Christmas. That's if you've been a good boy or girl, because if you've been bad, you get Family Guy. Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception Daxter Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories Killzone: Liberation LocoRoco Medal of Honor Heroes Mercury Meltdown Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror Tekken: Dark Resurrection What, no Sega Genesis Collection or EA Replay? And while Daxter is a very good game, I don't think too many kids will go Nintendo 64 Kid crazy over getting a game released in March. Still, this is a pretty decent list, and I can't argue with it too much. If you're PSP shopping for someone, you might want to refer to this list.
