When they found out that kids are going crazy over a game console that encourages waggling of the arms, fast food company bigwigs probably had a coronary. Well, that could have also been caused by their outrageous blood pressure and clogged arteries, but we digress. The folks at Wendy's have already partnered with Nintendo to give away some tchotchkes, and now they're looking to promote their new Frosty Float with a Wii giveaway. Here's how it works: every $1.99 Frosty Float purchased will contain a special code that can be entered at www.FrostyFloat.com for a chance to win one of 800 Wii consoles, 800 Wii Points cards (in delicious 2000 point denominations, of course), and 800 Wii games ("specific game determined by sponsor"). Considering that the Frosty Float packs a walloping 400 calories, it's going to take an awful lot off arm waggling to work each one of these off. That's what business folks call a win-win.

  • Morph a McDonald's iZ toy into an IR repeater

Apparently this is the season to give IR-less, inanimate objects a bit of infrared love, as we've now got yet another IR installation duty for you handle once you've mastered the chore of getting the connectivity in your PlayStation 3. For those mums and pops who frequent McDonald's all too frequently, you've probably got a satisfactory stash of iZ toys laying around like landmines in the kitchen floor. If you've already got a (partial) multiroom IR channeling setup going, there's always the need for more coverage, so that's where the relatively useless "orange iZ" comes in, along with an IR receiver, soldering gun, and a dash of DIY prowess. This engineering dad cracked open the critter, carefully inserted the repeater, and made sure to clean up the mess by routing the cables through a rear opening, producing an impressively clean result. So if you're looking to make something worthwhile out of those otherwise ineffectual Happy Meal toys, be sure to hit the read link for all your instructions, and click on through for the repeatin' in action.[Via MAKE]

I'd like to end your evening with absolutely terrifying footage from GameVideos. These McDonald's ads from the PS1 era feature your favorite Ape Escape and PaRappa characters, dancing and singing. AND EVERYTHING IS SO HAPPY!!! Maybe Sony isn't as "t3h m4tur3!!!1" as we thought it was.
