It's been almost three months since Lead Producer Andy Velasquez last checked in with a State of the Game for Neverwinter, but yesterday's post touched on several new features leading up to Module 1: Fury of the Feywild. There's mention of the dedicated exploit team checking for cheaters, the NeverwinterPreview server, Module 1's new content across the board, The Foundry's uptime, and the live team. But possibly of the most interest in this article is talk of new classes and Paragon Paths, which Velasquez says will be coming by the end of the year. You can check out the full article over at the game's main site for more information.

Perfect World and Cryptic Studios didn't even let the launch-day paint dry (that's the officially official launch, not the one that let everyone in to play) before announcing Neverwinter's first free content update. And now that expansion has a launch date of its very own: Fury of the Feywild will go live on August 22nd. On that date Neverwinter players will gain access to a host of goodies, including the new zone Sharandar, new dungeons, new professions, and the new Campaign System. Players, however, don't have to wait until the module releases to get into the spirit of it; two special packs filled with Feywild-themed rewards are available for purchase. The starter pack consists of a portal hound companion, a Feywild hunter's ring, a fine Elven silk bag, and an adventurer's helper pack. Players can purchase multiple starter packs per account for $19.99 each. The knight of the Feywild pack offers a unicorn mount, a Sylph companion, the Moon Elf race, 600,000 astral diamonds, and more for $59.99.

The first major content addition to Neverwinter isn't just bringing new dungeons, it's bringing a new way to experience the game's content. The new Campaign system will see its debut in the region of Sharandar. This isn't just another name for a series of quests, but rather a new way for players to unlock both new rewards and new areas simply by adventuring and completing larger goals. The Campaign window is a new UI element that lists a number of Projects players can undertake. Questing in the area, running solo instances, or diving into the new dungeons will provide new rewards that can be spent on clearing projects, unlocking new regions, new dungeons, and so forth. Players can also earn new equipment by completing other Projects, which offers several methods to reap the benefits of hard work. The new system, like the rest of the content, is still due out for sometime this summer.

Neverwinter may have only been actually, really released a couple of weeks ago, but there's already an expansion on the way. Revealed in late June, Fury of the Feywild is a big chunk of content that includes a new region, new campaign areas, new enemies, new loot, and new everything else one would expect. In today's Neverwinter dev blog, Cryptic outlined one of Fury of the Feywild's key new additions: an all-new dungeon known as Malabog Castle. The castle is home to a corrupt king who seized control with the aid of a blue dragon, and it is from this dark throne that he seeks to rule all of Sharandar. Players brave enough to enter the dungeon will face a menacing Cyclops and the dark King Malabog himself. Fury of the Feywild is due for launch this summer.

So, like, Neverwinter launched and stuff. And today it's launching again. Cryptic and Perfect World are actually calling it a launch this time, though, so there's that. What does Launch Day part deux have in store for the discerning Neverwinter customer? There's a new Alchemy profession, the new Caverns of Gauntlgrym endgame PvP and PvE potpourri, and permanent price drops in the Zen store. The devs have also revealed a bit of info on Neverwinter's first free module. It's called Fury of the Feywild and it will bring three campaign areas, three instances, new enemies, new loot, and a new dungeon to the live game. The official Neverwinter website says it's coming later this summer.
