'The X-Files' is coming back, again
It would be hard not to draw a line between the world's current obsession with daft conspiracy theories and the first broadcast of The X-Files. More than 20 years after the era-defining series began, Fox has announced that it's producing another 10 episode run of the show. The eleventh season of The X-Files will air on the channel as an "event" towards the end of this year or the start of the next.
'Ronja, the Robber's Daughter' streams on Amazon January 27th
Studio Ghibli fans don't have too much longer to wait before setting sights on Ronja, the Robber's Daughter. All 26 episodes of the English dub will debut January 27th on Amazon Prime Video, according to Entertainment Weekly. Based on the trailer below, at least, the voice overs and lip sync don't seem particularly offensive, but there is a glaring lack of Gillian Anderson's narration throughout.
'The X-Files' six-episode series premieres January 24th
Back in March, Fox confirmed that FBI agents Mulder and Scully would return to television, and now we know when. The network announced that The X-Files six-episode run will begin on January 24th at 10 PM ET, following the NFL's NFC Championship Game. There's sure to be a load of interested viewers already marking down the date, but Fox is looking to rope in a few more by debuting the miniseries right after a big playoff game. The show's premiere is a two-night event with the second episode following on Monday, January 25th at 8 PM ET in what will be the regular time slot. If you'll recall, show creator Chris Carter will handle director and executive producer duties while David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprise their roles as the Bureau's paranormal investigating duo. 'The X-Files' is coming back to TV as a six-episode series
Yep, it's happening -- if not quite in the way you might expect. After a flurry of rumors, Fox has confirmed that it's bringing The X-Files back to TV as a six-episode "event series" arriving this summer. It won't be the full-on relaunch some fans were hoping for, then. However, show creator Chris Carter will once again take the reins, and both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will reprise their signature roles as paranormal investigators Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. It's not clear what prompted the return to TV after a 13-year hiatus, although it wouldn't be shocking if actor Kumail Nanjiani's X-Files Files podcast helped rekindle interest in the show. For us, the real question is whether or not it'll be as good as the original run. Carter thrived while X-Files and Millennium were on the air, but his 21st-century projects haven't had as much success.
