  • Phone guitar: iPhone OS, Windows Mobile and Android got all night to set the world right (video)

What can you do when no one's got a phone to jam with you? Why, you can be a geeky one-man band, of course! Web developer Steffest (just one name, like Sting or Madonna) managed to do just that by strapping a couple of Android devices (possibly an Archos 5 and a HTC Desire), a couple of WinMo handhelds (looks like a HP iPAQ h1940 and a HTC Touch Diamond), and an iPod touch on top of a portable speaker. All this just for a forthcoming presentation on mobile cross development -- Steffest had to painstakingly write the same audio program "in Java for Android, in C# for Windows Mobile and in Objective-C for iPhone." Oh, and it doesn't just end there -- turns out this dude can also pluck tap away a good Neil Diamond classic on this five-way nerd-o-strummer. Get on board and check out the video after the break.

  • Windows Phone 7 Series screwed and chopped onto HTC Touch Diamond (video)

If there's any better argument for rigid spec requirements for Windows Phone 7 Series hardware, it's this video of an HTC Touch Diamond running the OS at an especially syrupy pace. Indeed, the lag is so severe that it could very well be some trickery in the form of a RDP client running on a 7 Series emulator, which is in turn running on a PC -- which, now that we think of it, is a pretty good possibility. Whichever way they achieved this feat, it's certainly not a recipe for a viable handset. But we do know that these sort of "ports" are only going to increase as time goes on. See for yourself after the break. [Thanks to everyone who sent this in] Update: Sure enough, the author of the video has fessed up that this is an RDP hack job -- in other words, it has absolutely zero bearing on how WinPho 7 would actually perform in some post-apocalyptic future where it's been successfully ported to the Touch Diamond (that being said, we certainly wouldn't be surprised if the herky-jerky action ends up being just about accurate).

While Sprint and Verizon still haven't officially nailed down an exact release date for their incarnations of HTC's desirable Touch Diamond, Telus isn't keeping its customers (or potential ones) in the dark any longer, with it now announcing that the handset will be available on August 14th. Prices will start at just $150 on a three-year contract, and jump to $350 on a two-year one, $400 on a one-year deal, and a full $450 if you don't want any strings attached at all. You can also expect to pay $15 a month for a basic email and IM plan, or $30 for email, web browsing and IM -- on top of your usual voice plan, of course.

We actually rather like the Tumbler-like stealth rear surface of the HTC Touch Diamond, but if you're trying to roll a little more Wayne, a more straightlaced edition dubbed "Victor" announced back in May with a flat rear end is now shipping. Apart from that it doesn't look like there's anything new going on here, so we'll see if any Stateside carriers offer this version any time soon.[Via Boy Genius Report]

The HTC Touch Diamond is hitting shores world-round, and this store in Malaysia is making a big deal of things with a full selection of accessories, alluring attendants, and what appears to be a permanent address. If the touchscreen and Opera browser don't get you, the shiny displays certainly will. Follow the read link for more pictures of the new store.[Thanks, freedomzaft11]

  • HTC Touch Diamond unboxed, packaging worthy of the phone

Nothing new to report on the Touch Diamond's tech here, but wow, look how fun the box is! Of course, we know you're all waiting to see what they stuffed in the wedge-shaped package, and the answer is a charger, headset, USB cable, a manual or two, and the software. The charger appears to be a universal job with a swappable plug for travel, and the headset a typical example of an HTC pack-in -- albeit with a dash of fun and angular design. • HTC Touch Diamond soft keyboard comes to other WinMo phones

We weren't too thrilled with the Touch Diamond's resistive touchscreen when we got a chance to play with HTC's new hotness, but if you're envious of that updated soft keyboard, you're in luck: the Diamond's ROMs have already been pulled apart and the .cab files are just a click away. Installation is said to be slow and you'll have to jump through some hoops to switch the default language from Italian, but things will eventually work out for you -- although we doubt anyone's going to be nearly as impressed as if you had a real Touch Diamond.[Via MobilitySite]

  • HTC Touch Diamond dock stealthily makes the scene

We're already big fans of the Touch Diamond's sleek black aesthetic, and it looks like the design language is going to carry over to the official accessories, like the dock. Yeah, it's just a dock with a USB connector and a headphone jack so you can listen to music while charging / syncing your phone, but it's definitely one of the slickest form factors we've seen -- too bad it's listed at £25 ($49).
