It goes without saying that you have to be a pretty accomplished typist to use one of PFU's letterless Happy Hacking Keyboards. But for the laser-focused overachievers out there, PFU just started selling the S-Type for "speed" and "silence." This retooled version promises to keep up with faster typists -- a mighty vague claim indeed -- and pledges to make 30 percent less noise. Of course, as with other HHKBs, mere mortals prone to spelling errors can nab one with letters printed on the keys. It's on sale now for ¥30,000 ($371.61) -- a veritable steal compared to some other keyboards we've seen.

Electronista is reporting that Fujitsu is bringing their Happy Hacking Keyboard to the Mac (with a Mac command key, etc.). Apparently something of a cult classic among certain PC users, Fujitsu is promoting these small USB keyboards for use with the Mac Mini. What makes the keyboard special is a driver that, according to electronista, allows "owners to visually reassign keys by dragging and dropping functions over the keyboard." They are available in Japan now, and will probably soon be heading stateside. Seriously, though, how can you not want a happy hacking keyboard?

Happy birthday Happy Hacking Keyboard... who knew your letterless keyboard would have been such a success? To celebrate their 10th anniversary, PFU has put together this limited edition, ¥525,000 (about $4,390) HG JAPAN model coated in Wajima lacquer -- a process which presumably renders panda essence with celebrity suet. Get 'em while they last! [Via Impress]
