What’s coming to Netflix in November: ‘House of Cards’ and 'Narcos’
November's right around the corner, which means we're gearing up for winter and Netflix is about to serve up some new shows and films. Among the Netflix originals returning this month is the sixth and final season of House of Cards (November 2nd), the latest collection of The Great British Baking Show (November 9th) and the Narcos follow-up, Narcos: Mexico, which features a new location, new agents and a new cartel (November 16th). On November 9th, we're also getting Outlaw King, the Netflix original film starring Chris Pine as Scotland's Robert the Bruce.

Netflix has followed its brief peek at House of Cards' final season with a larger teaser, and we now know how Claire Underwood will handle the presidency with Frank out of the picture: by fighting for it every step of the way. This latest preview shows Claire remaking the White House under her rules, telling people that Frank's promises don't count under her tenure and that they shouldn't believe anything her late husband said. Not that it's likely to deter others. More than a few former associates come out of the woodwork to challenge Claire, including former Chief of Staff Doug Stamper.

Today, Netflix released a teaser for the final season of House of Cards, which will premiere on November 2nd. It's just 19 seconds long, but it contains a crucial piece of information: How the show dealt with the removal of lead actor Kevin Spacey. The teaser shows Claire Underwood, played by Robin Wright, speaking to Frank's grave, making it clear that Spacey's character is dead.

Last year, a number of individuals, both on the House of Cards set and off, accused Kevin Spacey of sexual assault, which initially led Netflix to halt production of the show and later remove the actor from it entirely.

The sixth and final season of House of Cards doesn't hit screens until the fall of this year, but Netflix is already building the hype. The streaming service has dropped the first teaser for the show's last, eight-episode run, in which Robin Wright's character of Claire Underwood takes center stage as the new president. Kevin Spacey won't be reprising his role as disgraced former president Frank Underwood, of course. News that the sixth season would be the end of the political drama immediately followed an accusation by Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp that Spacey sexually assaulted him when he was just 14 years old. Production was suspended, and Netflix cut all ties with Spacey soon after, when several members of the crew also came forward with sexual harassment claims against the actor.
Netflix resumes 'House of Cards' production without Kevin Spacey
Netflix's production of House of Cards is back on track. The streaming service has resumed production on the political drama's sixth and final season roughly four months after a series of sexual harassment allegations against co-star Kevin Spacey led to him being cut from the show. There's no word yet on when the new season will premiere, but it's reasonable to presume that the series won't make its usual first-half-of-the-year release window.
Amazon’s ‘Transparent’ hasn’t cut ties with Jeffrey Tambor yet
Last month, following accusations of sexual assault, Transparent actor Jeffrey Tambor released a statement that made it seem like he would be leaving the show. "Given the politicized atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set, I don't see how I can return to Transparent," Tambor said. And while he has stated that he regrets if anything he did in the past was misinterpreted as aggressive, he has denied any purposeful wrongdoing. "The idea that I would deliberately harass anyone is simply and utterly untrue," Tambor said in a statement. However, the New York Times reports today that Tambor's departure is far from certain and the show is currently operating under a very unclear future.
‘House of Cards’ returns in 2018 -- without Kevin Spacey
Today, Netflix announced that it has reached an agreement to resume production on the sixth season of its tentpole show House of Cards. Variety reports that the final season will consist of eight episodes starring Robin Wright. Kevin Spacey will not appear in the season. Production on the show will resume in early 2018.

If House of Cards comes back for its planned sixth and final season, it won't happen on Netflix with Kevin Spacey attached. After accusations of sexual misconduct surfaced yesterday from crew members working on the show, the streaming video company issued a statement tonight saying "Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey." The studio that produces House of Cards for Netflix, Media Rights Capital, quickly followed up with a statement of its own, saying that Spacey "has been suspended, effective immediately." Based on the two company's releases, while that puts an end to the actor's participation, they're still considering options for the future of the show.

Netflix has long used House of Cards as its tentpole show, but that could soon come to an end... and the timing couldn't be more uncanny. Variety, Deadline and Hollywood Reporter have learned that Netflix will end the political drama with its sixth season. The show was already expected to wrap up relatively soon (the end was in the works for a long time), but it comes just as Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp alleged that Kevin Spacey sexually assaulted him in 1986. While Spacey has since issued a pseudo-apology (he says he doesn't remember the incident), this really doesn't help matters -- Deadline sources even assert that Spacey's Gore Vidal biopic might be cancelled in the wake of the scandal.
Sean Penn will star in Hulu’s upcoming Mars series, 'The First'
In May, Hulu ordered a straight-to-series show called The First. Set in the not too distant future, the series depicts the first human mission to Mars and humankind's first attempts at colonizing another planet. Today, Variety reports that Sean Penn has been signed onto the series.
Netflix and Hulu already won 21 Emmys ahead of the main event
The Creative Arts Emmy Awards took place this weekend and both Netflix and Hulu put on a good showing. Netflix raked in 16 awards while Hulu programming took in five -- a positive preview for how each streaming service will fare during the primetime Emmy Awards, which will take place on September 17th. Overall, Netflix was at the top of the winner's list, coming in second to HBO.

After months of drumming up hype with cheekily-timed previews, Netflix has released its first trailer for House of Cards' fifth season (not-so-coincidentally after President Trump's first 100 days)... and it's clear that the Underwoods will both have and want a lot on their plate. Not surprisingly, things pick up almost immediately where they left off: Frank and Claire are grappling with a heated presidential election, a troubled marriage, terrorism and journalists vowing to expose Frank's shady activity. Not that they're deterred, however. Frank imagines the couple remaining in power for decades, term limits be damned.

Netflix couldn't have found a more ideal moment to tease season five of House of Cards. In the midst of Donald Trump's inauguration as the 45th president of the US, the streaming service announced that its hit show is returning on May 30th. The slogan for the new episodes appears to be "We make the terror," which could signal that the Underwood family is still up to no good. No surprise there.
What's on your HDTV: 4K Blu-ray, 'Creed,' 'Zelda' and 'Mythbusters'
Somehow, season four of House of Cards arriving this week doesn't feel like that big of a deal. Beyond Netflix's flagship series, we're looking forward to a number of big releases, including the first big slew of Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. Some of the better movies of the 4K and HDR-mastered bunch include multiple Oscar-winner Mad Max: Fury Road and Sicario. Unfortunately, for other Academy Award-caliber flicks like Creed, The Room and The Danish Girl, 1080p will have to do (for now). This is also the final week for Discovery's Mythbusters, which airs its series finale Saturday night. Last but not least, Nintendo is dropping a remastered version of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess in HD on the Wii U Friday.
