LG's ET83 touchscreen Windows 8 monitor, fingers-on
We heard about it some time ago and managed to get some fingers on time with LG's new 23-inch Windows 8 optimized monitor at today's CES press conference. It's a nice looking peripheral, for sure. The IPS panel is cocooned by a black bezel, which meets a white shiny plastic rear at its tips. Along the bottom bezel are a number of touchscreen controls, including things like Menu, for adjusting picture quality and the like. The screen sits on a leg with a large hinge for adjusting your viewing angle. Unfortunately, the single leg support shake a bit when you tap the screen, so you're going to want go a bit easy when tapping on those Metro tiles. All in all, its quite responsive. We were able to tap and slide through the Microsoft UI in a breeze. As long as you're not too aggressive with you're touchscreening, it looks to be a pretty nice compliment to Microsoft's latest desktop operating system. AOC's 23-inch IPS monitor almost skips the bezel, ships soon for $199
Close on the heels of its "virtually borderless" (when it's turned off) 27-inch IPS monitor, display maker AOC has come up with a smaller sibling to add to the family. The 23-incher, tagged the i2367fh, totes similar styling and specs -- IPS technology, a claimed 2mm bezel, 1920 x 1080 resolution with 50,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 5ms response time and two HDMI ports. The off timer function its predecessor sported also remains. However the new model, which is part of a different series, can't boast of the same height-adjustable stand and 4-watt speakers, integrating a 2-watt pair instead. The monitor carries a $199 sticker, but you can snag it for 10 bucks lower on backorder from B&H Photo and Amazon -- stock is expected later this month.
LG announces 23-inch Touch 10 monitor with Windows 8 optimization
With Microsoft's latest operating system officially official now, we can certainly expect a massive wave of Windows 8-tailored peripherals to be ready to meet most consumer needs. Naturally, Korean electronics giant LG is expected to be one of many manufacturers leading the way, and thus it's no surprise the outfit has announced its Touch 10 ET83 monitor. According to the Optimus G maker, this 23-inch, touchscreen-enabled IPS panel will be a perfect choice for folks utilizing Windows 8, allowing them to take full advantage of Redmond's hefty implementation of gesture-based controls within the OS. The Touch 10's set to be available in Korea in November (mum's the word on pricing), while availability in other markets around the globe is expected to be sometime shortly thereafter.
AOC outs 'borderless' 27-inch IPS monitor, available now for $349
Not to be outdone by ViewSonic's recent introduction of the 27-inch VX2770Smh-LED display, AOC's coming out with a large IPS monitor of its own. The i2757fh is being touted as a "borderless" panel, and the reason behind that claim is its slim 2mm bezel. Aside from those narrow characteristics, AOC's new 27-inch monitor also boasts a decent 1920 x 1080 resolution with 50,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio, 5ms response time, two HDMI ports and, naturally, the great viewing angles you get with an IPS unit. As far as pricing goes, AOC's slapping a not-too-shabby $349 tag on the i2757fh, but there is a Best Buy-only deal which knocks 50 bucks off of the original MSRP. ViewSonic's new VX70Smh-LED IPS monitors arriving this month, pricing starts at $159
Only a couple of months have passed since ViewSonic announced its new pair of wallet-friendly VA12 monitors as well as that larger, energy-efficient 27-inch VX2703mh-LED. Fast forward to today, and the company's back with a trio of fresh VX70Smh-LED panels, including a lavish 27-incher in the VX2770Smh-LED, plus a couple of 22- and 23-inch monitors for those who prefer something a bit more conservative -- all of which are equipped with IPS technology, a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution (30,000,000:1 MEGA Dynamic Contrast Ratio) and SRS Premium Sound. ViewSonic has said both the 23- and 27-inch VX70Smh-LEDs will be available "early October" for $189 and $319, respectively, while the smaller 22-inch VX2270Smh-LED is expected to hit shelves around December with a $159 price tag.
HP unveils 2311x IPS LED-backlit monitor and two new LCD displays: prices start at $140
Though we've already seen HP's 23-inch 2311xi IPS LED backlit monitor -- the first of its consumer monitors to feature in-plane switching technology -- it's getting a second turn in the spotlight today as the company fleshes out its new line-up of displays. Accompanying the 2311x is the 20-inch 2011xi IPS LED backlit monitor, which for $170 offers 178-degree viewing angles and a 1600 x 900 resolution. Both versions will start shipping in the US on June 24th. HP is also updating its selection of LED-backlit LCD monitors. The 20-inch W2071d and 23-inch W2371d sport resolutions of 1600 x 900 and 1920 x 1080, respectively, and both include VGA and DVI-D inputs. LG introduces four new IPS monitors in 23 and 27-inch sizes, 2D to 3D conversion on tap
Another suite of monitors are ready to grace your desk and decimate your budget. LG has announced four new series of monitors here at CES, all using IPS panels to delivery good viewing angles and 2D to 3D conversion technology that will add some faux depth to your flat images. Top of the line is the DM92, a 27-incher with skinny bezels that's optimized for gaming, though we don't have any important figures like refresh rates and the like. There's a 23-inch DM82 with a "chic and futuristic design" clocking in at 23-inches and offering 7-watt speakers. The DM52 offers 27-inch and 23-inch models with "versatility and efficiency," which we presume means budget pricing, and then there's the D43, "optimized for cinema" with its "Super resolution" upconversion tech. We don't have full specs so we don't know just how super the pixel density is on that guy or the others, nor pricing, but we'll be updating with pictures and details as soon as we get them. The AOC Aire Pro: a 23-inch IPS monitor for $199
If your battalion of bargain-hunting web bots is doing its job properly, then you should already have been alerted to AOC's new sub-$200 IPS monitor. Oh, hold on, we're the bots? Right then, here are the key specs: you get Full HD at 60Hz spread over 23 inches, a meaninglessly high 50 million:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 5ms response time, twin HDMI sockets and built-in speakers, all housed in brushed aluminum shell that's less than 0.4 inches thick. The Aire Pro is available from today and there's further info in the PR after the break. Will that be all?
Dell goes pro with U2410 IPS monitor for Japan
It looks like those that'll accept no less than an IPS panel in their monitor now have another option from Dell, which has just debuted its new 24-inch U2410 monitor in Japan. The big selling point here, of course, is the monitor's color reproduction, which promises to reach 96% coverage of the Adobe RGB color space, and 100% coverage of the sRGB color space. Otherwise, you can expect some suitably high-end specs across the board, including a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution, a 6ms response time, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, a full range of ports including DVI, DisplayPort, and HDMI, not to mention a built-in 4-port USB hub. No word on a release over here, unfortunately, but folks in Japan can grab one now for ¥72,450, or about $760.[Via Impress]
