Eurotech introduces Atom-powered in-wall Panel Computers
Why leave all the new computer fun to your desk or lap, right? In an effort to give that barren wall of yours something to cheer about, Eurotech has recently introduced a new trio of Panel Computers, all of which are powered by Intel's less-than-amazing Atom CPU. The Vx-120F-N270 and Vx-150F-N270 are practically identical save for the 12.1- and 15-inch touchscreens (respectively), with each possessing an Atom N270 processor, a fanless design, high-brightness LCD, twin gigabit Ethernet jacks, a front-mounted USB port and an expansion slot for add-on boards. The outfit also debuted the rugged Bx-400F-N270, which should withstand abuse not seen on typical in-wall PCs. Prices have yet to be made public, but you can pretty much bank on your local home automation dealer charging a boatload come mid-September.
Originatic to bring wall-mountable Smart-Leaf PC to CES
You know, the world really needs more wall-mountable PCs. We mean, who hasn't had the urge lately to pull up in one's hallway and check their email on something other than a handheld? All unwarranted sarcasm aside, Originatic is planning to reveal a rather unique machine at CES, with the Smart-Leaf PC boasting a "space-saving" in-wall design with a fold-out, spill-proof keyboard, touchscreen panel, WiFi module and even a TV tuner. For those with incredibly acute memories, you'll likely recall that this very rig debuted in prototype form at last year's CES, though the commercialized Oasis and Mountain variants will be ready for shipping in March. Sadly, there's no word on pricing nor detailed specifications, but we get the feeling you'll end up paying too much for too little.
VidaBox unveils TouchClient12 in-wall touch panel
While the vPad will certainly push the buttons of some home automation freaks, the in-wall TouchClient12 is likely to float the boat of just about everyone else. The unit is designed to be mounted flush within a wall, and aside from packing a predictable 12.1-inch color touchscreen (1,024 x 768 resolution), you'll also find Windows XP embedded within. Unlike most of the outfit's products, this one is available to the public right from its website, giving DIYers and headstrong homeowners the ability to bypass those pricey installers (and potentially mutilate their wall). As for connections, all that's needed is power and a CAT5 wire, after which you can program the panel to control anything controllable on your property. Sure sounds nice, but $2,499 nice? We'll leave that one to you.
Adlink intros touchscreen embedded panel PC
While there's already a number of in-wall PC options, Adlink's NuPPC-0701T will likely become the automaters choice thanks to its integrated seven-inch, 800 x 480 resolution touchscreen LCD. This all-in-one computer measures in at just 8.39- X 5.71- X 2.87-inches, and includes a 1GHz Intel Celeron processor, Ethernet, audio in / out, 512MB of RAM, three USB ports, and a CompactFlash slot for easy expansion. The company is hoping its latest device gets shoved into applications such as kiosks, electronic manufacturing, factory automation, and transportation systems, but we see nothing wrong with rigging up your AV system, garage door opener, and electronic doggie door instead. Per usual, you'll have to phone these guys up in regard to a price, and just in case the aforementioned specs aren't up to your lofty standards, upgrades are certainly available at a cost.[Via FarEastGizmos]
