Hey, you -- about to pull the trigger on a svelte new 1080p Play Big IN82? Hold your horses young buck, as it seems that the aforementioned unit's successor is just around the bend. Reportedly, the InFocus Play Big IN83 will house Texas Instrument's DarkChip 4 DLP chip and will feature a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, 5,000:1 native contrast ratio, 10-bit video processing, an HDMI 1.3 input, automatic black level calibration, 1,600 lumens and a three-year warranty. Unfortunately, word on the street pegs this beauty at £3,500 ($6,948), so maybe that soon-to-be-discounted IN82 doesn't look like such a slouch after all.[Via AboutProjectors]

It's been a tick since we've seen any "Big" news come out of InFocus, but now that the CES rush is over, it's taking the time to push out a pair of new DLP projectors. Up first is the Learn Big IN2100 EP series, which was crafted with educators and rambunctious youngsters in mind. It features BrilliantColor processing technology, 2,500 lumens, a lamp life of 2,500 hours and a three-year product warranty. As for the Work Big IN2100 lineup, you'll find most of the same features already mentioned, but this one does tout an all new remote control system and an "advanced InFocus User Interface" that other units apparently lack. The entire family will be available next month in SVGA ($599), XGA ($749) or WXGA ($999) flavors, but we don't reckon you'll be missing out on much should you forget to mark it down. Those looking for something a little more business-minded (and more expensive) than InFocus' $500 Play Big IN1 project now have a trio of new options to consider from the company, which recently introduced its new "Work Big" IN35, IN35W and IN37 models. As you might expect, the differences between the three aren't huge, with each making use of DLP technology and each boasting a 1,400:1 contrast ratio, along with an XGA resolution on the IN35 and IN37, and a wider WXGA resolution on the appropriately-named IN35W. The IN37 also packs a relatively hefty 3,000 ANSI lumens, compared to 2,500 lumens on the other two. The prices aren't all that far apart either, with the IN35, IN35W and IN37 running $1,099, $1,399, and $1,299, respectively.[Via About Projectors]

Woot -- your favorite low-cost Zune supplier -- is movin' on up. The e-tailer is touting yet another "Woot launch," which just so happens to be a brand new InFocus DLP projector aimed at gamers and those on a budget. The metallic blue Play Big IN1 features a 640 x 480 native resolution, S-Video / component / composite inputs, 500 ANSI lumens, a 1,500:1 contrast ratio, integrated stereo speakers and headphone / RCA audio outputs. Granted, even at $499 we'd expect the specifications to be a bit more... modern. Oh, and Woot's also throwing in a set of Wii component cables, so there's that, and for those unfamiliar with how Woot works, we'll just suggest that you pull the trigger now (if this piques your interest) and contemplate later.

InFocus has a new projector for us in its IN38 DLP model, which features an impressive brightness of 3,500 lumens, XGA resolution, and a 2000:1 contrast ratio. It features an M1-DA DVI connection alongside VGA, Component, and S-Video. It's clear that you're paying more for the extra lumens, as the price will be a penny short of $2000 when the projector hits in September. At least you get a free carrying case.[Via Electronista]

We've always heard that too much work and not enough play drives the brain insane, so it's about time InFocus saved us all from falling off the deep end. Amidst the recent barrage of Work Big projectors, InFocus has finally unveiled a Play Big iteration that becomes the company's first foray into the single-chip DLP, 1080p-capable PJ realm. The Play Big IN82 is armed with the latest DLP DarkChip3 technology from TI, and also features a native 4,000:1 contrast ratio, 1,500 ANSI lumens, a Color Gamut Calibrator, ISF Day / Night presets, Pixelworks DNX 10-bit video processing engine, and HDMI 1.3 to boot. Get ready for an extended vacation when this one lands next month for $5,499.

Continuing to expand the Work Big lineup, InFocus' latest addition could be easily overlooked. Those with little room to spare in the suit will appreciate the 2.4-pound "palm-sized" design, and the DLP technology, 1,800 ANSI lumens, and XGA native resolution ought to do those PowerPoints proud. The Work Big IN10 works natively at 4:3, sports an 1,100:1 contrast ratio and onboard 1.3:1 zoom lens, is compatible with NTSC and PAL signals, and touts a lamp life of nearly 4,000 hours. Additionally, the integrated one-watt speaker and DVI / S-Video / composite input assortment should handle the most basic of setups, but this bundle of corporate joy will run you a stiff $1,249 when it lands in August.

  • Infocus shows off new projectors, none "true HD"

In almost a bit of underwheleming news -- considering the "true HD" pitches that other companies are making -- Infocus has announced three new projectors, none of them displaying higher than XGA. The Work Big IN24+ and the Work Big IN2+ (both of which are available now) share mostly similar specs including a brightness of 2,200 lumens, contrast of 2,000:1, and VGA, S-Video, and Composite RCA ports; they only differ in resolutions -- the IN24+ ($649) features 800 x 600 SVGA while the IN26+ ($799) sports an XGA-tastic 1024 x 768 pixels. Its other big model for CES is the Play Big IN1, which is scarce on deets -- including pricing and availability -- but has an integrated DVD player and allows you to display movies onto your ceiling so you can enjoy them without the stress of having to sit up. As convenient as that may be, we'll continue to go out of our way to be upright if it means watching at least 720p.

  • InFocus drops the price on the still kickin' SP777

InFocus is keeping the award winning ScreenPlay 777 around just a bit longer with a price drop to $9,999.99. (Previous price drop lowered it to $12,999) We were kind of hoping that they would announce a successor to the venerable 720p DarkChip3 projector. This projector really is sweet and all, but it;s been around for a while and we just want a refresher. It;s not even that it's 720p cause around here we don't fall for all that 1080p hoopl, but it would have been nice to see the same quality contrast and colors with the option of a higher resolution. Even still, the projector is an amazing unit and we would venture to say that is now the best projector for under $10 grand. (period)

InFocus recently trotted out its "Work Big" IN42 projector which, as the name makes so plainly obvious, is intended more for the board room than your home theater. The projector pumps out a standard 1024 x 768 resolution at 3,500 lumens, meaning you shouldn't have to force everyone to sit in complete darkness to enjoy your riveting presentations. InFocus is also touting the projector's low 32-decibel noise level as well as its integrated RS232 and RJ45 connections, which'll let you network the unit if you so desire. Inputs come in the form of composite, component, S-Video, VESA, and M1-DA; DVI connectivity is available with the aid of a M1 to DVI cable (apparently not included). Look for this one to drop sometime in the third quarter for $3,299.[Via TG Daily]

InFocus has been a staple of the projector industry for some time now. The company is currently working on migrating their current line-up of DLP/LCDs to an all DLP offering. This decision came from an effort to streamline their company's product line. Hopefully this will help drive down the cost of their projectors if their sole chip provider is Texas Instruments.

  • InFocus has 3 new projectors on the way

When you think of front projectors, InFocus has to come to mind. They were the pioneer in the US market and they have continued to exemplify what good projectors should be. Maybe, just maybe though, they're getting a little overpriced. Hey, I'm not saying they are bad projectors but check this out for example. They have three new projectors coming to the US market in their Play Big line. Sounds great, right? They are of course DLPs that can do 16x9 ratio screen, but the issue is that they start at $1,699. What's the issue you say? $1,699 doesn't get you high definition but rather 480p instead! The big brother isn't HD-capable either, but if you want to spend $2,499 you can have it. These are going to be released in the first quarter of 2006 and beyond that, there isn't many other details. We're sure that they're great projectors and they have that killer look that is reminiscent of InFocus's ScreenPlay 777, but they are overpriced for the res. Would you spend 1700 bones for a projector that is not HD?
