Instagram adds status markers to your DM list
Instagram started telling you when your friends were active in the direct message list last January. Now the photo-centric social network is expanding the feature with a new green dot to indicate who is online and active.
Laser-based 'clock' shortens beam as wake-up time draws closer
It's probably not the clock you need to build if being punctual is your modus operandi, but it's sufficiently nerdy nonetheless. One Nirav Patel -- which may or may not be related to our own Mr. Patel -- decided to hand craft his own "sleep remaining indicator," which utilizes a slowly rotating servo, a laser beam and a timer in order to work its magic. Put simply, the beam gets shorter and shorter as one's wake-up time draws near, but oddly enough, you'll never be able to see its awesomeness if you're actually sleeping. Quite the conundrum, no?
Raid Rx: Unkicking butt (a Grid story)
Raid Rx is designed to encapsulate and cure the shock and horror that is 25-man raid healing. Ok, so it's mostly horror... I'm covering nitty gritty, the stuff you need to know to make your raiding life easier. We're talking a full-body assault on one of the most popular healer raid frame addons out there. And it's our secret, kk? 'Cause the Addon Spotlight people will prolly kill me if they caught wind of it. If there's no article next week, you know someone ratted me out. Grid has long been worshipped as the ultimate compact raid frame, a place where all of the information you need to know about your raid is provided in a single display. In fact, Grid's raid frame so small only those with binoculars strapped to their head and serious affection for tiny squares have been able to use Grid right out of the box. For those that have neither, they tend throw in the towel at the first sign of the configuration menu. And that is what I intend to stop. Put your textiles back on their racks and prepare to become a... /insert dramatic music... MASTER OF GRID!
NTT DoCoMo's liquid-inspired charge indicator
We have a hard enough time holding it between bathroom breaks as it is without being taunted by sloshing water on our phones, but we have to admit, it's pretty darn nifty nonetheless. It seems NEC's N702iS for NTT DoCoMo has a motion sensor that detects tilt, affecting the "liquid" inside the display appropriately. As battery level drops, so does the level of the liquid. Whimsical, yes, but when you're technologically dominating every other carrier in the world, we think you're afforded that luxury.[Via SlashPhone]
