House of Cards is returning November 2nd for its sixth and final season, which will center on Claire Underwood and her presidency. Netflix shared the premiere date -- which is just ahead of midterm elections in the US -- today. Last year, a number of individuals, both on the House of Cards set and off, accused Kevin Spacey of sexual assault, which initially led Netflix to halt production of the show and later remove the actor from it entirely.

‘House of Cards’ teaser shows Claire Underwood taking charge

The sixth and final season of House of Cards doesn't hit screens until the fall of this year, but Netflix is already building the hype. The streaming service has dropped the first teaser for the show's last, eight-episode run, in which Robin Wright's character of Claire Underwood takes center stage as the new president. Kevin Spacey won't be reprising his role as disgraced former president Frank Underwood, of course. News that the sixth season would be the end of the political drama immediately followed an accusation by Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp that Spacey sexually assaulted him when he was just 14 years old. Production was suspended, and Netflix cut all ties with Spacey soon after, when several members of the crew also came forward with sexual harassment claims against the actor.

Netflix's production of House of Cards is back on track. The streaming service has resumed production on the political drama's sixth and final season roughly four months after a series of sexual harassment allegations against co-star Kevin Spacey led to him being cut from the show. There's no word yet on when the new season will premiere, but it's reasonable to presume that the series won't make its usual first-half-of-the-year release window.

Google’s year in search finds people ready to take action

It's been a heck of a year. And as 2017 draws to a close, a bunch of web giants are on hand to remind us of what we got up to on their services. Twitter had us raging, Facebook saw us praying for victims of tragedies, and now Google (the biggest of the three) is sharing its year in search. The top spot in the US and worldwide was reserved for Hurricane Irma. The same went for Google news trends in the US, which were dominated by natural disasters, including Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Jose, and Hurricane Maria, with the looming threat of North Korea and the tragic mass shooting in Las Vegas making the top ten as well.

Amazon’s ‘Transparent’ hasn’t cut ties with Jeffrey Tambor yet

Last month, following accusations of sexual assault, Transparent actor Jeffrey Tambor released a statement that made it seem like he would be leaving the show. "Given the politicized atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set, I don't see how I can return to Transparent," Tambor said. And while he has stated that he regrets if anything he did in the past was misinterpreted as aggressive, he has denied any purposeful wrongdoing. "The idea that I would deliberately harass anyone is simply and utterly untrue," Tambor said in a statement. However, the New York Times reports today that Tambor's departure is far from certain and the show is currently operating under a very unclear future.

Today, Netflix announced that it has reached an agreement to resume production on the sixth season of its tentpole show House of Cards. Netflix: We won't make 'House of Cards' with Kevin Spacey involved

If House of Cards comes back for its planned sixth and final season, it won't happen on Netflix with Kevin Spacey attached. After accusations of sexual misconduct surfaced yesterday from crew members working on the show, the streaming video company issued a statement tonight saying "Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey." The studio that produces House of Cards for Netflix, Media Rights Capital, quickly followed up with a statement of its own, saying that Spacey "has been suspended, effective immediately." Based on the two company's releases, while that puts an end to the actor's participation, they're still considering options for the future of the show.

Earlier this week, Netflix announced that the next (sixth) season of its show House of Cards would be its last -- and then suspended production -- when allegations emerged of sexual harassment by lead actor Kevin Spacey. Today, eight people who worked on the show told CNN that Spacey repeatedly sexually harassed people on set, and one said that the actor sexually assaulted him.

Yesterday, Netflix announced that it would be canceling House of Cards after its sixth season. And though it had planned to wrap the series up anyway, the recent allegations that lead actor Kevin Spacey had sexually assaulted Star Trek Discovery's Anthony Rapp when he was 14 doesn't help matters. Now, it appears that the sixth season itself may be in jeopardy.

Netflix cancels 'House of Cards' after six-season run

Netflix has long used House of Cards as its tentpole show, but that could soon come to an end... and the timing couldn't be more uncanny. Variety, Deadline and Hollywood Reporter have learned that Netflix will end the political drama with its sixth season. The show was already expected to wrap up relatively soon (the end was in the works for a long time), but it comes just as Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp alleged that Kevin Spacey sexually assaulted him in 1986. While Spacey has since issued a pseudo-apology (he says he doesn't remember the incident), this really doesn't help matters -- Deadline sources even assert that Spacey's Gore Vidal biopic might be cancelled in the wake of the scandal.

It took a while to get going, but it's safe to say we're living in a golden age of digital music. Terrible compression is a thing of the past, and the rise of streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music give us instant access to almost anything we want to hear. But while we've gained so much, there's also a sense that we've lost something. Sharing a playlist isn't the same as burning a CD for your sweetheart or, going even further back, manually dubbing a mixtape. As our music has become less physical, so has our attachment to it.

Masterclass is an online education service with a twist: all of the teachers are household names in their chosen subject. The website launched with an acting track that included five hours of video coaching from Hollywood royalty, Dustin Hoffman. Now, however, the company has decided to add another two-time Oscar winner to its stable after signing a deal with Kevin Spacey. He'll be offering five hours of pre-recorded clips across 29 lessons as he takes a group of students through his process, plus guidance from Masterclass' slightly less famous online coaches.

In the US there's Black Friday, but in China, they get all their big online shopping discounts on November 11 aka "Singles Day" instead. As of 4:28am ET today, Alibaba's Tmall, the Chinese equivalent of Amazon, has already made over $11 billion which broke last year's record of $8.97 billion. As reminded by our friends over at TechCrunch, both numbers from that platform alone beat the entire US' online sales of last year's Thanksgiving and Black Friday combined. It's no wonder Alibaba could afford to hire Frank Underwood Kevin Spacey and James Bond Daniel Craig to kick off this year's party.

It's been too long since we had lovable psychopath Frank Underwood in our lives, which is why it's so good to see him back on Netflix. The third season of House of Cards is now available on the streaming service, although eagle-eyed viewers may have caught the first episode when it leaked on February 11th. Oh, and your boss probably reads this site too, so if you suddenly come down with a 24-hour case of bubonic plague, you can expect a frosty reception come Monday.

  • Amazon scores two Golden Globes, Netflix debuts House of Cards trailer

Tonight's Golden Globe Awards were a triumph for internet TV services, as Amazon and Netflix scored wins for their original series -- all on a night when the big four broadcast networks didn't win any. Amazon had two awards to Netflix's one, and won their head to head battle as its hit Transparent triumphed in the "Best TV Series, Musical or Comedy" category that included Orange is the New Black, Silicon Valley, Jane the Virgin and Girls. Series star Jeffrey Tambor collected the other award for Best Actor in a TV Comedy. Netflix won a single award (Kevin Spacey, Best Actor in a TV Drama, House of Cards) but might have given us the best moment of the evening by releasing a trailer for House of Cards season three. It's embedded after the break if you need a taste of the Underwoods before the new season debuts worldwide on February 27th.

With Call of Duty being one of the most successful game franchises out there, you know there's always going to be a next one. Well, the first trailer for that game has dropped, revealing its full title of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and Kevin Spacey. The House of Cards actor appears to be cast in the role of a powerful, politically driven antihero (how original), but what we're more interested in is the little hints of new and changing gameplay elements. Just as CoD 4: Modern Warfare brought the series out of the WWII era, Advanced Warfare will send us further into the future, as the presence of spider tanks, hover bikes, the 'copters from Avatar and weaponized exoskeletons suggests.

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings just crashed LG's CES 2014 press conference (we're sure he was invited) to announce, officially, that House of Cards will be one of the first shows available in 4K later this year. Already shot and mastered in 4K, the show is a natural fit, although it seems viewers will need to use the Netflix players embedded in their Ultra HD televisions to stream this show in the highest quality possible. We're going to ask Netflix how it plans to fit all those pixels through our skinny internet connections when we get a chance, but for now HoC fans can bite into a new season two trailer after the break.

We're still a few months away from the debut of Netflix's new series House of Cards, but the streaming company has posted a trailer on its service and on YouTube giving us an early peek. You can check it out after the break, or head to the Netflix site and see the new page it's whipped up to promote the show that's accessible whether or not you subscribe to the service. That's also where it plans to add behind the scenes content, reviews and other promo material as the February 1st launch approaches. The trailer is brief, but the style and everything we can see of star Kevin Spacey as Congressman Francis Underwood has the feel of a high quality production. This path is already well worn by AMC, HBO, Showtime and others trying pump up value by adding exclusive new shows (Lilyhammer also aired on Norwegian TV) on top of existing catalog movie offerings. We'll see if the critics and subscribers put it on a par with shows like Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Dexter or Breaking Bad, and how viewers react to Netflix's strategy of making all the episodes available at once.
