Hands-on with Toshiba's new LED Cloud TVs and Media Box with Blu-ray
Although a mixer isn't exactly the best place to spend quality time with new TVs and Blu-ray players, we did take advantage of the time with the new hardware that was on display at Toshiba's CES party. We saw a few new Media Boxes with Blu-ray as well as new cloud-connected LED TVs. They all shared a common look and feel, which is part of Toshiba's new corporate design elements. Cloud can, of course, mean just about anything these days, but to Toshiba it means things like network upgradability, peer-to-peer WiFi, Skype, as well as an event calendar and photo album. The slimmer L7300 line and higher includes a wireless keyboard with trackpad, while that is only an accessory on the L4300. We'll have to wait a little longer to learn the price, but everything is set to come out by this summer. Follow all the latest CES 2013 news at our event hub.
Panasonic brings Let's Note CF-Y7 to Santa Rosa
Not wanting to feel left out of the mad Santa Rosa rush we've seen over the last few days, Panasonic has introduced its first Let's Note model to sport Intel's new chipset, the CF-Y7. This 14.1-inch upgrade features a 1,400 x 1,050 display, 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo L7300, 1GB of RAM, four-flavor WiFi, and a super multi drive, and ships with Windows Vista Business. Also on board are an 80GB hard drive, SD reader, and a claimed 7.5-hour battery, but only a PCMCIA slot instead of the preferred ExpressCard. Hitting Japan on May 18th -- and possible the US as a Toughbook in the future -- the Y7 is expected to go for around ¥275,000 ($2,227). [Via Engadget Japanese and Impress]
