The homebase of Project Zomboid developer The Indie Stone was broken into last night, and two computers containing much of the code for the latest update were stolen -- this wouldn't be as serious a problem had the code been backed up externally. Unfortunately it wasn't, and The Indie Stone has been set back months. Many Project Zomboid fans, some of whom have invested personally in the game's development, were miffed at The Indie Stone's "unprofessional" approach to managing its code, and how it publicly handled the break-in. "Homebase" is the apartment where Chris Simpson and Andy Hodgetts, two of The Indie Stone devs, live and work, making the burglary personal on a deep level. Intense emotional stress is not the time to turn to Twitter, but Simpson did, expressing his fears and sense of violation openly. It didn't end well and Simpson has since removed his account from Twitter and has written a formal apology. Writer Will Porter has explained the situation in full on the Project Zomboid blog, saying the game will "come back stronger." "During this time we will clearly be asking for the understanding and patience of our community," Porter wrote. "We are gutted, we are despondent and -- most of all -- we are sorry that this has thrown yet another bump into the road towards PZ completion. We also REALLY want to wring the neck of the arsehole that did this to us." If you have any information that could help The Indie Stone wring some necks, contact the Northumbria Police. If you don't, remember what mommy always said: If you don't have anything nice to say.... [Thanks, @unff!]

During an interview with Public Radio International, Harmonix co-founder Eran Egozy spoke about his current musical inspirations and walked listeners through a tour of his offices. While making his way through the cubicles and sacrificial chambers that undoubtedly inhabit the offices that rawk built, the PRI host stumbled upon one employee playing something that sounded a bit familiar -- something that sounded a lot like Mötorhead."I was working on '(We Are) The Road Crew,' which is an upcoming DLC track," the Harmonix employee responded to inquiries about the track. Of course, Lemmy and his pals are no strangers to Rock Band or games in general; Mötorhead is featured in the upcoming Metal Track Pack, frontman Lemmy has been immortalized in Guitar Hero: Metallica and he was almost Eddie Riggs in the upcoming Brütal Legend.[Via Plastic Axe]

Brütal Legend developer Double Fine has been working on its heavy metal-based action game for some time now. And they've got the leftover art assets to prove it. Recently showcasing a grip of work from the past few years previously only seen during the "Brutal art of Brütal Legend" panel at GDC 2009, the screens (below in the gallery) hint at the variety of metal themed environments we're anxiously awaiting to fully explore come the game's October release date. Possibly most interesting of all is the distinctly Lemmy-ized main character, pre-Jack Black days apparently. But really, would it have been so hard to see the Motörhead lead singer commanding the armies of rock in a revolution? Yeah, not so much.[Via Kotaku]%Gallery-63101%

click to Lemmy-size Double Fine has released a new batch of Brütal Legend screenshots. There's plenty of metal goodness to be had, including dragons, cars and giant-fisted baddies. We won't lie though, the most exciting screen, as you can see above, is that of the Kill Master, played by MotörHead's Lemmy. We're not entirely sure what he's doing with that bass guitar -- what are those strings attached to, anyway? -- but we're fairly certain it's something awesome.Check out all the new screens in the gallery below.%Gallery-51461%

Upcoming Guitar Hero: Metallica will feature the likeness of Motörhead frontman, Lemmy, as a playable character, continuing the franchise's tradition of including celebrities in-game. "It's great to be in Guitar Hero with all these famous people and I'm really pleased to be in it with Metallica," Lemmy said. Well, we can say we're glad you're in it, too! With Guitar Hero: Metallica featuring a variety of non-Metallica tracks (as well as some of the classic Metallica tunes), and now Lemmy, it's going to be hard to ignore this when it hits retail in North America on March 29.
