Martin Shkreli is learning the hard way that his eagerness to harass others has consequences beyond social networking bans. Judge Kiyo Matsumoto has ordered the price-gouging (and most recently, securities fraud convict) "pharma bro" CEO to jail over the Facebook post he wrote offering $5,000 to whoever could get him a strand of Hillary Clinton's hair. Shkreli and his lawyer maintained that the post was satire protected by free speech, but Judge Matsumoto didn't buy it. This was "solicitation of assault," she said in her decision, adding that it wasn't funny to effectively issue a threat.

On Thursday, US prosecutors petitioned a court to revoke Martin Shkreli's $5 million bail due to a remark made on Facebook about Hillary Clinton. Prosecutors said it was evidence he posed a "danger to the community." On September 4th, Shkreli reportedly wrote on Facebook that he would give $5,000 to anyone who grabbed a strand of Clinton's hair while she was on her book tour.

Martin Shkreli, for lack of a better/more accurate word, is a gigantic tool. The priapic "pharma bro" gained notoriety after he jacked up the price of an anti-toxoplamosis drug by 5,000 percent in 2015. Later that year, it was revealed that he was the guy who spent $2 million on Wu-Tang Clan's one-off Once Upon a Time in Shaolin as a kind of middle finger to music fans everywhere. Now Shkreli has listed the ultra-rare album on eBay. Here's the item description, verbatim. Emphasis ours:

Martin Shkreli is, to put it mildly, one of the most loathed people on the Internet. He's primarily known for jacking up HIV drug prices purely out of greed, but he also ducked fraud questions and drew the ire of music fans for buying Wu-Tang Clan's ultra-rare album. However, he hasn't done much that would get him kicked from social media services... until now. Twitter has suspended Shkreli after he conducted a short but sustained harassment campaign against freelance reporter Lauren Duca in retaliation for criticizing Donald Trump in a Teen Vogue piece.

Australian high school students have done "a little Breaking Bad" by synthesizing and effectively open-sourcing the drug famously hiked 5,000 percent in price by "pharma bro" Martin Shkreli. The drug they recreated, Daraprim, is used to treat infection caused by malaria and HIV and without it, many patients would die. "Working on a real-world problem definitely made us more enthusiastic," said 17-year-old Sydney Grammar student Austin Zhang. "The background to this [drug] made it seem more important."

Whatever you think of the outcome of the US election, it's providing a surprise for music fans. You see, Martin Shkreli (the infamous pharma exec who jacked up prices on an HIV/AIDS pill) bought the Wu-Tang Clan's one-copy album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin and said he'd release it if Donald Trump won the presidency. Well, he honored that promise... sort of. After word of Trump's win got out, Shkreli livestreamed both the intro to Wu-Tang's album and one of its tracks. These weren't intended as permanent copies, but this is the internet -- listeners ripped the video feed and put the tunes on other sites. They're not album-quality recordings, of course, but this might be the only chance you get at listening to this exceptionally rare composition.

Martin Shkreli has a strong claim to be the most hated man on the internet, and his latest obnoxious display of wealth is about to piss off plenty of hip hop fans. Bloomberg has learned that the smirking hedge fund mogul was the mysterious buyer of the Wu-Tang Clan's one-off album, Once Upon A Time in Shaolin. As part of the deal, Shkreli is now the only person in the world that's entitled to listen to the work, with public broadcast blocked until 2103 at the very earliest.
