Michael B. Jordan burns all the books in 'Fahrenheit 451' trailer
Last year, HBO announced that it was adapting Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 into a movie and today we get its first trailer. In it, we see Captain Beatty, played by Michael Shannon, telling underling fireman Guy Montag (Michael B. Jordan) about the dangers of books and why they have to be burned. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing," he says. "News, facts, memoirs, internet of old -- burn it." We also see Jordan's character spreading those ideas to school children, lighting room-fulls of books ablaze and saying with barely restrained fury, "I want to burn."
Netflix's next original is a personal kind of superhero story
Finding superhero stuff on Netflix isn't difficult whatsoever, but the streaming service and actor Michael B. Jordan have a new type of origin story in mind. Raising Dion asks what it'd be like to, as its name suggests, raise one from childhood. Dion has telekinetic powers, can summon blue flames in his hands (perfect for roasting marshmallows indoors), make himself literally invisible and teleport. He's still very much a seven year-old boy though, and doesn't quite have a handle on the hows and whys of his powers. For example, he asks his mom why his poop isn't invisible too. It's a fair question.
Warner Bros. is reportedly considering a 'The Matrix' relaunch
In 1999, a small sci-fi movie called The Matrix made its debut, featuring not just a focus on hacking and a slick action aesthetic, but also the use of "bullet time" special effects. Its success meant that those elements would quickly become (over)used elsewhere, but its place in cinema history is secure. Tonight, reports indicate that the studio behind it is considering revisiting that universe. The Hollywood Reporter cites sources claiming Warner Bros. is in talks with writer Zak Penn (Ready Player One, Alphas, X-Men 2, The Incredible Hulk) to write it, and considering Michael B. Jordan to star, but also says it's far from being ready.
