There is a new generation of film makers that are throwing out the norm and embracing high-def. Micheal Mann is willing to work with all new technical difficulties that arises when shooting in high-def. He shot Collateral two years ago in high-def but that flick didn't take place cruising across the Gulf of Mexico at 70 miles an hour. All that salt water and humidity plays havoc with the cameras but he did it. After four and a half months of testing alone, Miami Vice was shot totally in high-def. The filmmaker hasn't given up on standard film but the new medium does provide the viewer with a different experience. [Via HDTV UK]
