  • MacBook Pro updates almost upon us? Screenshot of new model numbers offers hope

It seems silly to give up all expectation for a MacBook Pro refresh. After all, isn't a spec bump for Apple's flagship laptops a total inevitability? Still, the arduous wait has begun shake our faith, and we're happy to see even this sliver of evidence to snap us from our stupor. An internal Microcenter system is listing four new laptops with new part numbers, which, if legitimate, almost certainly harbor new Core i5 and Core i7 processors (maybe even those NVIDIA Optimus graphics if we're lucky). According to the Microcenter employee who sent this out, a similar thing happened in November with a correct model number and price for the new MacBook. Mac Rumors claims to have been able to receive independent confirmation on the numbers, so we might really have something here. Now, as for a specific launch date, the best we have so far is that April 13th rumor, but with a tips box buzzing with rumors, we're starting almost feel confident in seeing a new MacBook Pro this century. [Thanks, Ross W.]

  • Inventory screenshot from Microcenter shows imminent MacBook Pro updates

We've received an anonymous tip from a Microcenter employee in the form of a screenshot of Microcenter's inventory system. The screenshot appears to show that a MacBook Pro update is imminent. Microcenter's inventory system shows four different SKUs for upcoming Macs, as outlined below: Apple System Good-USA MC371LL/A $1799.99 Mac system #1 Best-USA MC373LL/A $2199.99 Mac system #2 Best-USA MC024LL/A $2299.99 Mac system Better- USA MC372LL/A $1999.99 These prices seem to indicate updated 15" and 17" MacBook Pros, presumably updated with the latest i5 and i7 Intel processors. MacRumors says they have received independent confirmation of this info from Microcenter. This latest indication of a MacBook Pro update comes less than a week after an earlier leak from a Taiwanese newspaper which claimed MacBook Pro updates are coming later this month. There doesn't appear to be any information on the 13" MacBook; it's unclear whether that means updates for that product are coming later on or product information has yet to hit Microcenter's inventory system. The current line of MacBook Pros hasn't seen significant updates since June of 2009, so many potential buyers have been eagerly awaiting an update to the line for several months. Given this latest information from Microcenter, it looks as though the long wait may be over very soon.

  • IZ3D's 22-inch 3D LCD monitor finally hits the B&M scene

It's mildly amusing that up until now, your only option when buying IZ3D's 22-inch 3D LCD monitor was to buy it on a decidedly 2D website. At long last, the recently cheapened (now $399) display has hit the brick and mortar realm, with both Fry's Electronics and Micro Center agreeing to carry it. The move is just one more in the inevitable push to get 3D in the home, and we have all ideas that it'll be joined by a number of others after CES '09 is all wrapped up. Feel free to drop by one of the aforesaid retailers to check this thing out in person, but we'll warn you, those frightened by 3D glasses need not apply. Full release (including specs) is after the break.

  • GTA IV dated 'March 08' in Micro Center ad

Leading game retailer Two-bit computer and electronics chain Micro Center has taken Grand Theft Auto IV's target release window – between Feb. and April, 2008 – and divided it in half: "March 08," declares the store's new circular. While GameDaily recommends we leave our calendars open for Saturday, March 8th, we're pretty certain Micro Center's "08" is an abbreviation for '2008,' and further evidence that no one knows exactly when to expect GTA IV. Do yourself a favor: don't be that guy who drives all night to Mayfield Heights, Ohio, arriving during the wee hours of the 8th, only to find a few eager campers for Smash Bros.

Micro Center is whipping out the impressive Xbox 360 deals again with their President's Day sale. As reported by our sister site Xbox 360 Fanboy, a wireless controller for $20 is a great deal. The best investment on the flyer is certainly the Quick Charge Kit -- although the fanboys don't recommend the Intercooler. The sale is only this Monday, so if you've got a Micro Center in your area, these really are some pretty sweet deals.

President's Day is Monday and that means one thing ... great shopping deals! To kickstart the sales Micro Center is offering a few nice Xbox 360 deals including a wireless controller for $19.99, a HD-DVD drive for $169.99 and a $50 gift card with the purchase of a Xbox 360 premium bundle. And stay away from that Intercooler guys. Be forewarned though, this offer is only good in-store and only on Monday, February 19th. See, we always knew there was a good reason to celebrate President's Day.[Thanks, Jason]

  • Snag a Premium 360 for $200?

The Micro Center rebate saga continues this week. First, they announced the $100 360 rebate (Core or Premium). Next, they extended the deal through the holidays. And now, it seems you can knock off another $100 by employing a little trickery. Signing up for a Micro Center credit card and making a purchase of $399 will net you enough redeemable points to claim a $100 check. For those keeping score, that's $200 off the price of a Premium pack, effectively dropping the price to $199 ... high five! It should be noted that we don't have confirmation that this will work, but considering the credit card deal applies to purchases of $399, it seems like it was actually made specifically for this purpose.Remember, you might have to hoof it quite a ways, though, as there are only 19 Micro Center locations in the US. Our advice: make a detour (or twelve) on your way to grandma's house for the holidays.[Thanks, Dave Zatz]

Our mutant overlords at Joystiq are reporting that the Micro Center $100 rebate deal we reported earlier this month has been extended to December 31st. For those who don't recall, the deal applies to both Core and Premium 360 bundles. We suspect the deal is legit, though the official rebate page has not yet been updated with the new dates. So, if you're still on the fence about the 360 (or looking for a good gift idea), you've got some more time to think it over. Remember though, there are only 19 Micro Center locations in the US, so you might want to see what the real price is after you factor in gas and tolls.[Via Joystiq]

  • $100 Xbox 360 mail-in rebate from Micro Center

With only 19 retail store locations nationwide, this may involve a road trip -- be sure to call ahead for availability.Micro Center is offering up a $100 mail-in rebate for Xbox 360 (Premium or Core) purchases. The catch, your 'box can only be copped in-store (not online) between November 12 (last Sunday) and December 3. It's also worth noting that the rebate could take up to 3 months to process. Still, for those of you in the gift-giving business, this is a bargain not to be missed.
