YouTube pushes new UI for tablets via its mobile website, Android app
As we should all understand by now, YouTube is constantly changing its look. The latest versions of Google's video streaming juggernaut to be refreshed are its experiences for tablets. The Android app has a brand new UI for 10-inch slates, and if you prefer the mobile website to its apps, you'll see the fresh look popping up there as well. Just like the changes to its site layout pushed to all a few days ago it brings the guide feature, promising easy access to subscribed channels. As YouTube continues to pick up higher profile content to show subscribers, it's no surprise the new changes are intended to funnel viewers there. Google+ mobile site gets UI refresh, now more like its app siblings
Well, it's not quite the tablet-friendly app we've been waiting for, but, it'll do. Google+ has gotten something of a mobile facelift, bringing the portable site's design more in line with that of the Android and iOS mobile apps. The revamp isn't just visual, it also hides some nice new features, like the ability to reshare posts with just the click of a virtual button. You can check it out now by visiting plus.google.com on your mobile device or by opening m.google.com/apps/plus in your desktop browser.
Twitter.com for iPad eyes-on, now with 100 percent more HTML5
Even if you weren't waiting for it, it's finally here. Next time you grab your iPad and want to check Twitter sans official app, you'll be able to do it in tablet-optimized form. The San Franciscan company just outed a delectable HTML5 redux of its desktop equivalent, carrying over the animated two-pane design of its forebearer, while replicating niceties like pull-to-refresh and scroll bouncing from its native iOS app. Unfortunately, we couldn't get to the goodness from our Galaxy Tab 10.1, but given the open nature of the web, we're hoping an Android compatible version isn't far off. And if you're not seeing the refresh on your iPad yet, sit tight; the company's rolling out access throughout the week. Walmart creates iPhone compatible site
Do you like shopping at Walmart? From electronics to $4 prescriptions, Walmart seems to have everything. But one thing it didn't have was an iPhone application, and now they do. If you visit the Walmart.com website on your iPhone, you will be presented with an iPhone-specific portal for all of your shopping needs. From the home page, you can browse through products by category, see current product specials, and even see a list of approved $4 prescriptions (in PDF form). If you tap the "Shopping List" tab, you can create your own shopping list. This is handy if you frequent the actual store. You can also search for a local store or search for an item. Unfortunately this is where the functionality of the site ends. If you wish to purchase a product you'll have to visit the regular website, which can be slow to load over a mobile connection.
