Veteran producer Tak Fujii announced his departure from Konami today following a "great 20 years of creation." Fujii revealed the career move via Twitter, giving thanks to "all who supported, loved my titles." Fujii's time with Konami began in 1997, serving as audio director for 11 years with the publisher. Fujii worked on a number of games with Konami, including the Pro Evolution Soccer series, Q-Entertainment's Ninety-Nine Nights 2, the PS3 port of No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise and Volition's Darksiders, which Konami published in Japan. As for Fujii's future, the producer added that he "will be freelance for a while." Of course, Fujii may be best known for providing an interesting presentation at E3 2010, about which he also tweeted, "don't think that was the best of me." [Image: Konami]

  • Review: Ninety-Nine Nights 2

Galen hasn't had the best few months. Though he might be the self-proclaimed "ultimate warrior," his world has been invaded by the Army of the Night, his home has been destroyed and his family killed. So he's doing what any other ultimate warrior would do in a similar situation: He's slaughtering everything. But here's a surprise I learned from N3II: Ninety-Nine Nights, a.k.a. Ninety-Nine Nights 2: Indiscriminately wiping out your enemies is, for the most part, crazy boring. When it's not boring, it's incredibly frustrating. And on a few rare occasions? Frustratingly boring. %Gallery-94289%

Kmart has quite a slate of deals lined up this week. You want cheap Ninety-Nine Nights 2 and Naughty Bear? You got it. $25 game credit with Singularity? Why not? $20 pre-order credit for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow? Oh, fine.

Konami has announced that Ninety-Nine Nights 2, sequel to Q Entertainment's lackluster 2006 title, is set to launch on June 29. And because the first game was met with such lukewarm reception, Konami has prepared a media onslaught documenting the story, improvements and multiplayer of the sequel. Above, you can find a brisk video highlighting the events of the second game. For the remainder of the videos, you'll have to head past the break. One provides a quick rundown of the sequel's improvements, while the other gives us an overview of the multiplayer functionality. And if all of that hacking and slashing gives you a touch of the Lucille Twos, then maybe you should just check out the motionless stills in our gallery below. %Gallery-94289%

  • Ninety-Nine Nights 2 demo hacks, slashes XBLM

A quick note for all the "Games that are like Dynasty Warriors" fans: a demo for Ninety-Nine Nights 2 is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. The demo offers up two missions from the game. One sees players hacking and slashing their way through massive hordes of enemies. The other mission also sees players hacking and slashing through massive hordes of enemies, only said horde of enemies is led by a gigantic beastie (as seen above). Two further notes: Check the equipment available to you -- particularly the fire resistance accessory, which helps a lot with the aforementioned beastie. Don't get too invested in the demo, because it doesn't let you actually kill the beastie. Xbox.com: Add the Ninety-Nine Nights 2 demo to your Xbox 360 download queue

  • Konami publishing Ninety-Nine Nights II this spring in North America

Konami, which picked up the publishing rights for the Xbox 360-exclusive N3II: Ninety-Nine Nights in Japan, has announced that it'll also publish the feelplus-developed sequel in North America. In fact, the North American release is slated for the same spring 2010 window as the Japanese version. N3II features five different storylines telling the three sides -- humans, elves and goblins -- of a "free for all" battle. Prepare your thumbs, because that sounds like a lot of button-mashing! But you know, if all those storylines can maintain the kind of epic narration featured in this new trailer, N3II is guaranteed to be a multi-million seller. Wouldn't you agree? %Gallery-85843%

  • Japan gets Ninety-Nine Nights 2 in Spring 2010

Konami has updated the Japanese website for Ninety-Nine Nights II -- or N3II if you insist on confusing people all the time -- with a release window of Spring 2010. There isn't much more info to be gleaned from the site, although it does note two-player support. One other tidbit that should help us all sleep through at least one night: The game will apparently ship on a single DVD, so you won't have to worry about swapping discs before mowing down the next horde of baddies. There's still no confirmation of a release outside of Japan, though the game was rated by Australia's OFLC in December. [Via Siliconera] %Gallery-71570%

Konami appears to be daring enough to localize Ninety-Nine Nights 2 -- which, we suppose, isn't too much of a surprise since it showed the courage to publish the sequel to the mediocre action title in the first place. While Konami hasn't said anything official, an OFLC rating has appeared for N32, outing at least a tentative plan to publish the game in Australia. Speculation: Konami's not going to localize the game just for Australia. Whether the announcement is good news or not depends on your faith in Feelplus (for whom this is the first action game) to deliver a better Dynasty Warriors-type game than Phantagram did. %Gallery-71570%

  • Konami publishing Ninety-Nine Nights 2, new screens

Click for monster-size. An official website for feelplus' Ninety-Nine Nights 2 is now live, and it looks like Microsoft won't be taking up publishing duties for the sequel. It appears that Konami will be publishing the game instead, at least in Japan -- the website notes that Ninety-Nine Nights is still a Microsoft trademark, though. Much more interesting than all of that, the site reveals some of the first screens for the game. It certainly looks pretty but, then again, so did the first game -- and that didn't help much. Giving us somewhat more hope for the sequel is the screen above, which depicts a gigantic monster. And of course, there are seemingly dozens of enemies on the same screen. Let's hope dispatching them is a little more entertaining this time. Check out the new screens in the gallery below: %Gallery-71570%[Via IGN]

  • Ninety-Nine Nights 2 details arrive in short supply

Ninety-Nine Nights 2 (N3-2 from now on, dig?) is on the way, though we're certain few were asking for it, and the latest issue of Famitsu has revealed the first details. Siliconera says the feelplus-developed title now contains support for two players, and a photo of the article reveals a couple new characters in "Guren" and "Sefia" (at least, we think -- it's all in Japanese!). The title remains exclusive to the Xbox 360 and is expected to arrive later this year. These are the folks who worked on Lost Odyssey and Infinite Undiscovery after all -- what could possibly go wrong?
