NEC popped out a new 19- and 24-incher earlier this month, but evidently those two just weren't enough. Today, we're being formally introduced to the very first member of the all new MultiSync P Series, the 22-inch P221W. The monitor caters to professionals working in "color-critical environments" and includes a 1,680 x 1,050 native resolution, wide color gamut that achieves 96% coverage of AdobeRGB, internal 10-bit programmable lookup tables, S-PVA LCD technology, AmbiBright automatic brightness adjustment, a 16-millisecond response time, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness and a four-way ergonomic stand to boot. As with anything with "pro" attached to it, this here display won't run you cheap, but $636.90 isn't too bad for a color-savvy monitor and a 3-year warranty.

  • Gateway's 17-inch P-6831FX gaming laptop gets reviewed

Given that Gateway just pushed out a round of updates including the relatively ginormous P Series, we reckon it was only logical to expect a review shortly. To be frank, the P-6831FX critiqued over at HotHardware is far from being the most potent machine with a 17-inch panel, but unlike many of its luxurious competitors, this one is actually affordable. So, how much gaming joy can $1,349.99 bring you? Quite a bit when the 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTS and 3GB of RAM are included. Reviewers found gaming performance to be downright remarkable, though the 1.67GHz CPU did hamper it a bit in other areas. It should be noted that the unit now arrives with a slightly faster CPU among other minor extras, so if it was good then, we're guessing it's a runaway winner now.

Merely months after Gateway thrilled your soul with the introduction of all sorts of new desktops, the outfit has apparently received the upgrade bug. Starting right now, the 17-inch P-Series, 15.4-inch M-Series and 14.1-inch T-series laptops can be ordered with Intel's latest Core 2 Duo chips, more spacious hard drives and dual-layer DVD writers. For those eying a tower, the FX Series, DX Series and GT Series now provide (up to) a Core 2 Quad Q9300 CPU, 6GB of RAM, an overclocked NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT and price tags starting as low as $549.99. For more on these absolutely riveting upgrades, hit the read link and try not to fall out of your seat.

Yeah, Fujitsu's P8010 is slated to ship next month, and we've already played around with one at CES this month, but there's nothing that adds confidence like a last minute stop at the FCC. According to the posted user's manual, you can expect a 12.1-inch WXGA display, up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM, an 80GB SATA hard drive, Intel's SL7100 VL processor, a GMA GS965 integrated graphics set, audio in / out, gigabit Ethernet, WiFi and optional Bluetooth. Furthermore, you'll find PC Card / SD slots, VGA out, a trio of USB 2.0 connectors, 4-pin FireWire, a 56k modem, docking port and an optional 1.3-megapixel camera. Sure enough, documentation asserts that this bugger only weighs 2.69-pounds with a battery installed, which makes us even antsier for its eventual release.

Fujitsu's forthcoming P8010 may not be ready to arrive at your doorstep, but that didn't stop the outfit from bringing one along to CES. Granted, this one here is actually a pre-production unit, but we learned that the final version isn't likely to change before it ships en masse to US customers in just a few weeks. While it likely won't do much to appease those who missed out on the ever-so-shortly-available $300 Gateway laptop, the company has just announced a couple of new entries in its slightly higher-end P-series laptop line, which each manage to stay under the $1,000 mark. Those include the $800 P-6801 model, which sports a 1.46GHz Pentium dual-core processor and a 160GB hard drive, and the $950 P-6822, which ups things to a 1.5GHz Core 2 Duo processor, a 250GB hard drive, and a built-in 1.3 megapixel webcam. Both models also pack the same 17-inch 1440 x 900 display, along with the usual Intel X3100 graphics. On the desktop front, Gateway has let loose its new GT5628 model, which is based around Intel's G33 chipset and packs a speedy 2.4GHz Core 2 Quad processor, along with GeForce 8500 GT graphics, 3GB of RAM, and a spacious 500GB hard drive. Look for it to set you back $950 when it lands October 14th, which is the same day the laptops are set to be released.

While you can be forgiven for mistaking it for another company's monitor line, that image above is in fact one of Acer's new P Series displays, which come in 19, 20, 22, and 24-inch varieties. From the looks of it, there's nothing too remarkable here, with the 19-inch P191Wd boasting a 1440 x 900 resolution and 2,000:1 contrast ratio, and the 20-inch P201Wd and 22-inch P221Wd upping things to the standard 1680 x 1050 resolution and a slightly better 2,500:1 contrast ratio. On the top of the heap, the 24-inch P241Wd monitor packs a 1920 x 1200 resolution, a 3,000:1 contrast ratio, a 2 ms response time, and a 400 cd/m2 brightness rating (compared to 300 cd/m2 for the three other models). From the sound of it, all four should be making their way to retailers now (if they aren't there already), with prices ranging from $230 to $500.

  • Toshiba announces 1GB P10K and 2GB P20K Gigabeats

If you thought Toshiba was only involved in one DAP launch this week, think again, because ol' Tosh has also decided to revitalize its Gigabeat P-series with the P10K and P20K. Last time we heard from this flash-based line was when the 512MB / 1GB P5L got a multi-colored premium edition, and the pink variety must have been especially popular, as that and white were the two colors chosen for the 1GB P10; white is your only choice for the 2GB P20, but both models can change it up with removable faceplates. Besides the capacity bump over the P5L and P10L, these new P's retain all of their predecessors' features: a 1.1-inch color OLED, MP3 / WMA / WAV / PlaysForSure support, line in / voice / FM recording, and a 14-hour rechargeable battery. Scheduled for release in early December, the P20 is listed at 17,980 Yen ($153), while the smaller P10 will be priced around 13,980 Yen ($119). [Via Impress]
