ASUS Eee Pad Slider priced in Portuguese catalog, manhandled on camera (video)
ASUS first showed off its Eee Pad Slider what seems forever ago. That was way, way back at CES, amongst the deluge of tablety announcements. The keyboard-hiding Honeycomb device is finally on its way, having been given an August release date in the UK and recently hitting the FCC in the States. The 10.1-inch tablet just popped up in the August catalog for the Phone House (the Carphone Warehouse's brand outside the UK) catalog in Portugal, priced at €349 ($497) under contract with ZON -- that's down from €479 ($684) without contract. Motorola Xoom, LG Optimus Pad, Acer Iconia A100, and ASUS Eee Pad get Euro retailer pricing
The Carphone Warehouse, known under the brand name of Phone House across Europe, has revealed its future pricing for a quartet of Android Honeycomb tablets in the latest version of its device catalog. The 7-inch Acer Iconia A100 scoops the prize for being most affordable with a €349 sticker, while the 10-inch Xoom's €699 price is confirmed and the 8.9-inch Optimus Pad gets its lowest pricing yet, at a still unaffordable €849. The Eee Pad on display here isn't explicitly named, but we suspect it to be the 10.1-inch Transformer, packing a dual-core Tegra 2 and running version 3.0 of Android -- just like all the others in this group. Oddly enough, these are all detailed in the March version of the document, but unless we're sorely mistaken, none of these tablets has yet reached the stage of general availability in Europe. Samsung Louvre confirmed by second retailer
We really didn't have any reason to doubt Expansys to begin with, but when it comes to unannounced smartphones from Samsung, we'll take just as much rumor confirmation as we can get -- and now, that confirmation is coming from Holland's Phone House, which has posted an all-too-brief product page for the so-called B7610 Louvre. At this point, we're expecting a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard that tilts (a la Touch Pro2), a 3.2 megapixel cam, and TouchWiz (naturally) running atop Windows Mobile 6.1 (upgradeable to 6.5, we'd presume). Unfortunately, all Phone House has for imagery is a tiny, blurry image of what appears to be the F700 / Glyde with WinMo grafted onto the display; for Samsung's sake, we're hoping the launched product is just a little more 2009 than that.
