Viz Media, the anime localization super-giant responsible for bringing both Bleach and Naruto to North America, will continue its cultural conquest of the western continent by releasing Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva in North American markets. The film takes place between the events of Professor Layton and the Last Specter (due out this fall) and Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, and should be available at your local otaku shelter "later this year." The 2009 animated film featuring everyone's favorite top-hat professor had previously undergone westernization for its 2010 release in the UK, however Viz Media's adaptation will be the first version available in the US and Canada for those weary of importing. The film has been such a success in Japan and abroad that Layton developer Level 5 has already commissioned a sequel, however there has been no mention of localization for that adventure so far.

It's confusing enough to have two upcoming Professor Layton games -- Unwound Future on DS and Mask of Miracle on 3DS. But there's actually a third Professor Layton title on the way! In the UK, on October 4, Manga Entertainment is releasing the Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva movie on DVD and Blu-Ray. The film will be released in disc-only DVD and Blu-Ray editions, as well as a DVD collector's edition. If you really want to drop some money on the Layton movie, the DVD + Blu-Ray Combi Pack includes both the DVD and Blu-Ray discs, as well as the gorgeous collector's edition packaging and a book of storyboards. If you're in the US, ordering from Amazon UK is as simple as signing in with your American account. That leaves only the issue of region-coding -- at the moment, there's no information about the coding on either version of the movie.

Gamers certainly aren't strangers to memorabilia, doubly so for figurines, but this Professor Layton statue from NCSX has one thing going for it those others don't: you can actually afford it. We're used to seeing those high-dollar Samus statues and Capcom's ridiculously-priced (and ridiculously nice!) Street Fighter series, so when we caught wind of this $30 Professor Layton companion, we knew we had to post it up. So ... yeah, that's what this is. What? You were expecting more? OK, here's a riddle: What's 120 words, loves you and thinks you're the sexiest person on the planet? Head past the break for the answer! [Via Go Nintendo]

  • Come, adore Professor Layton & the Eternal Diva trailer

Despite what Professor Layton would have you believe, every puzzle does not, necessarily, have an answer. For instance, if we were to ask you how much we want to watch the Professor Layton movie advertised by the trailer after the break, and you would attempt to answer with any of the many English words you have learned since birth, you would fall short of capturing our enthusiasm. No, we would have to invent an entirely new word for our adoration, say ... blujargin, or krunksable, and that would hardly be fair to the guesser, would it?[Via Siliconera]
