'Project Cars' developer is making 'most powerful console ever'
The studio behind hyper-realistic racing game Project Cars is moving into the console business – and it's making some bold claims. Ian Bell, CEO of Slightly Mad Studios, revealed on Twitter that the company has started work on "The Mad Box", which promises to be the "most powerful console ever built."

Super realistic racing returns with 'Project Cars 2' in September
Barely a month after the release of the racing game Project Cars back in May 2015, the creators announced they'd already set up a crowdfunding page for a sequel. It seems they were right to be so audacious. Two years after the first game came out, Slightly Mad Studios has released a sizzle reel of footage from the upcoming title as well as a release date: Project Cars 2 is out on September 22nd for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Online gaming was his gateway to professional racing
When Nicolas Hamilton was born, two months premature, his family was told he would never walk. He had a form of cerebral palsy that would cause a constant stiffness in the lower half of his body. By the age of 11 he was restricted to a wheelchair, but that didn't stop him from wanting to become a race car driver. He had direct exposure to a Formula One world champion in the family: His elder half brother, Lewis Hamilton, went from casual karting on the weekends to winning three F1 championships.
'Project Cars' Wii U version canceled
Project Cars finally launched on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in May, after three delays and a few platform uncertainties dating back to January 2012. The game -- a realistic racing simulator from Need for Speed: Shift developer Slightly Mad Studios -- was supposed to launch on Wii U this year as well, but that's not going to happen, according to Gamespot and other outlets. Slightly Mad Studios Creative Director Andy Tudor confirmed the cancelation, noting that Project Cars "is simply too much for Wii U," according to the site. "Despite much perseverance on the Wii U version of Project Cars, we will no longer be actively pursuing development on it as the quality does not meet our own high standards nor our intended vision for the title on this platform," Tudor told Gamespot.
'Project Cars' developer is already crowdfunding a sequel
Now that Project Cars is finally out after several delays, Slightly Mad Studios has decided that it's time to begin raising funds for the game's sequel. According to its creators, who were also the folks behind Need for Speed, Project Cars 2 will have 50 locations, over 200 racing tracks and eight disciplines (including Rallycross, Hillclimbs and Touge). It will also have a co-op mode, where you and a friend can play as each other's driver, spotter and co-pilot. The studio has already set up a crowdfunding page on World of Mass Development with multiple tiers and rewards, the lowest of which costs £50 ($79).

After seven seasons (the last one stretched out as far as it will go), AMC's flagship series Mad Men is coming to an end this weekend. While some will say goodbye to Don Draper and the rest of the crew (Google Play put together a "fan experience" to help you look back), there's a slew of other finales hitting this week. Castle, Arrow, CSI: Cyber (well...), Elementary, Scandal and a number of others are wrapping up their seasons, so it's a good time to binge and catch up. The NBA and NHL playoffs are also cranking up the intensity, so sports fans will want to see which series go the full seven games. On Blu-ray, Wet Hot American Summer is arriving along with the original Battlestar Galactica series, while gamers can start playing Project Cars on consoles too.
