‘Terminator: Resistance’ will pit you against Skynet this December

Terminator: Resistance, a single first-person shooter based on the film franchise, is set to be released later this year. Publisher Reef Entertainment and developer Teyon unveiled a trailer today for game, which will be launching on PS4, Xbox One and PC. It is set in a post-apocalyptic LA, 30 days after Judgement Day, with players taking on the role of Private Jacob Rivers, a soldier in the Resistance Pacific Division. Many have raised concerns that the duo behind the game -- Reef and Teyon -- were also responsible for the widely reviled 2014 Rambo game. Of course, it's too soon to tell whether that fact alone will seal the game's fate. While Resistance's launch follows the release of the Terminator: Dark Fate film, the game only focuses on the first two films in the franchise. The UK-based publisher actually acquired the video game rights to the two films back in 2013, so this title has been in the works for a while.

If Rambo: The Video Game's past trailers have you unable to look away, its rampage is set to start in Europe on February 21 for the 360, PS3 and PC, with its North American unhinging following sometime in Q1 of 2014. In addition to assuring yourself a copy of the game on launch day, pre-ordering Rambo will reward you with one of the 3-inch figurines shown above if you go through participating retailers (sorry, United States). No, you cannot just buy the figurines separately. The press release notes that while the game itself is complete, developer Teyon has begun work on "the game's first DLC expansion pack." It sounds like Rambo won't run out of targets anytime soon. [Source: Reef Entertainment]

Rambo: The Video Game has a new reel of gameplay available to watch. Really, we could just end this post there. But we won't, because then we couldn't tell you about the features being touted for the upcoming first-person shooter. For example, we couldn't tell you about the stealth bow-and-arrow takedowns. We couldn't tell you that the game features environmental destruction, including caves collapsing and huts being blown to smithereens. We couldn't talk about the QTEs that, even when performed early, seem to impose no punishment on the player. And we definitely couldn't talk about how much Rambo seems to hate helicopters. Seriously. Dude shoots a lot of helicopters. You'll be able to see for yourself when you Sylvester Stall-own Rambo: The Video Game later this year.

Rambo, the man who inspired a mogwai to fight back, will influence another generation when a new video game draws first blood next year. MCV reports that UK-based publisher Reef Entertainment will produce "triple-A" Rambo games for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. "We have big ambitions for Reef and the Rambo IP is the first step in establishing us as a worldwide player," said Craig Lewis, commercial director at Reef. Reef Entertainment previously published the Wii ports of Rogue Trooper, Sniper Elite and ... um, other stuff. Hey, the odds were against John J. Rambo, too.

If you didn't know, there's a new Rambo movie coming out this Friday in the U.S. (no, we are not kidding) and in celebration of the Rambo fun there's a new Xbox Live Play & Win kicking off tomorrow. From January 25th through the 28th you'll have a chance to play games and win the goods over Xbox Live. But, there's some bad news. The game you'll have to play to be entered into the giveaway is ... gulp ... Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. We know, we know, that totally puts a damper on the Play & Win fun, but look on the bright side of things. There's hundreds of prizes to be won. Oh crap, there's actually only one prize to win. What the hell? We guess they're only giving away one grand prize that includes the Rambo box set, a Rambo military jacket and (get this) assorted Rambo tattoos, postcards, coasters, and stencils. Hmm, on second thought, maybe Kane & Lynch gaming and this Play & Win stuff isn't worth the hassle. That is unless you have a thing for Rambo stencils.

  • Free Stallone Rambo downloads on the XBLM

To help advertise the brand new Rambo movie and to put a few extra dollars in Stallone's pocket (which he'll spend on Botox injections anyway), Lions Gate just released a free Rambo theme and gamer picture set to the XBLM. Which, as with all US movie content, we expect to be only available to US Xbox Live subscribers. The free Rambo theme is mediocre with different backgrounds for each blade, but absolutely no attention was paid to skinning the guide. And that makes us sad. But the gamer pictures are rather nifty, but only if one enjoys Rambo's face. A noticeably less Botulinum'ized face. Grab the free downloads if you can and support the Rambo movie which will be in theaters January 25th. That is if you want to. If not, we won't tell.
