THQ Nordic is moving forward with its 'Gothic' remake
After it released a playable teaser in December to gauge public interest for a remake of 2001 fantasy RPG Gothic, THQ Nordic says it's moving forward with full development of the title. The publisher credits overwhelmingly positive fan feedback for the decision. According to THQ Nordic, of the 43,111 people who completed a survey after playing the playable teaser, 94.8 percent said they want the company to develop the prototype into a full-fledged game.
Quibi is remaking ‘Legends of the Hidden Temple’ for adults
Clearly, nostalgia can be profitable. Disney used it to create hype around its Disney+ streaming service, and within a day of launch, Disney+ had more than 10 million subscribers. Now, Quibi is using nostalgia to its benefit. According to a tweet, Quibi is rebooting the once-popular Nickelodeon show Legends of the Hidden Temple.
THQ Nordic drops a playable trailer for a potential 'Gothic' remake
THQ Nordic is testing the waters for a possible reboot of the 2001 fantasy RPG Gothic with a playable trailer. It's hoping for feedback from players on whether it should go ahead with a full rework. The prototype, which is called Gothic Playable Teaser, is free for those who own a game from original Gothic developer Piranha Bytes on Steam. It'll pop up in their Steam library.
‘Reno 911!’ is coming back as a Quibi exclusive
It looks like Punk'd isn't the only mid-aughts TV series that's coming back thanks to Quibi. Comedy Central says it's making a seventh season of Reno 911!, 10 years after the series came to an abrupt end, for the mobile-first streaming platform.
The forgotten pioneers of computer animation
Everyone remembers ReBoot. It's hard to forget the show's lead character -- a bright blue 'guardian' named Bob -- and his fight to protect a city inside a computer. The computer-animated series premiered in September 1994, months before Pixar stunned theatergoers with Toy Story. It was a groundbreaking show that allowed its creator, Mainframe Entertainment, to pursue similar projects like Shadow Raiders and Transformers spin-off Beast Wars. Today, many believe that Mainframe was the only company to debut a computer-animated TV show in 1994. But that's incorrect. The Canadian studio had a European peer called Fantôme ("ghost" in French), which developed an equally important and pioneering series called Insektors.
A 'Home Alone' reboot is coming to Disney+
It was clear that Disney's upcoming streaming service, Disney+, would be relying on some familiar names when it first started devouring movie and TV franchises left, right and center. What wasn't apparent at the time, though, was just how heavily the platform planned to lean on existing content -- or more specifically, the "reimagining" of movie classics. In the company's third-quarter earnings call this week, Disney's Bob Iger revealed plans to reboot four franchises from its newly-acquired Fox library, including Cheaper By the Dozen, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Night at the Museum and beloved Christmas masterpiece, Home Alone.

According to TVLine, MTV Studios is working on "reinvented" versions of the celebrity prank show Punk'd and the dating game show Singled Out. If you can't stand the thought of watching those classics, you might be happy to know each episode will be less than 10 minutes long. That's because the shows will launch on Quibi, an upcoming mobile-first video streaming service that plans to package content in short snippets.

The cult-classic fantasy movie Willow (directed by Ron Howard) might be revived as a series for the upcoming Disney+ streaming service. According to Deadline, Howard has said Jon Kasdan -- who worked with Howard as a writer on Solo: A Star Wars Story -- has been pushing for a reboot on Disney+. Apparently, Howard and George Lucas have long talked about the potential for a Willow series, which might give them an opportunity to build on existing characters.

Netflix is continuing its string of reboots by reviving Unsolved Mysteries, according to a report from Deadline. The streaming service is giving the greenlight to a 12-episode run of the true-crime and paranormal activity show. Shawn Levy, the executive producer of Stranger Things, will be overseeing the production.
Windows 10 may soon tell you which apps are using your microphone
Microsoft is testing some privacy and notification features in its latest Windows 10 Insider preview for Fast Ring users. A previous build added an icon to the notification area that tells you when your microphone is in use, and the newest update will let you see which app is using it when you mouse over the icon. If more than one app is using your mic, the icon will tell you how many. It's a useful privacy enhancement, especially if you're concerned about eavesdropping.
MTV is making a live-action ‘Aeon Flux’ reboot
Aeon Flux is coming back as MTV has moved forward with a plan to air a new live-action reboot of the series. The show premiered in 1991 with a series of animated shorts that aired on MTV's Liquid Television. The network then expanded the series with five short-form episodes in 1992 and 10 half-hour episodes in 1995. The show then went on to be adapted in a graphic novel, a video game and an unsuccessful film starring Charlize Theron.
