Terminator: Resistance, a single first-person shooter based on the film franchise, is set to be released later this year. Publisher Reef Entertainment and developer Teyon unveiled a trailer today for game, which will be launching on PS4, Xbox One and PC. It is set in a post-apocalyptic LA, 30 days after Judgement Day, with players taking on the role of Private Jacob Rivers, a soldier in the Resistance Pacific Division. Many have raised concerns that the duo behind the game -- Reef and Teyon -- were also responsible for the widely reviled 2014 Rambo game. Of course, it's too soon to tell whether that fact alone will seal the game's fate. While Resistance's launch follows the release of the Terminator: Dark Fate film, the game only focuses on the first two films in the franchise. The UK-based publisher actually acquired the video game rights to the two films back in 2013, so this title has been in the works for a while.

If Rambo: The Video Game's past trailers have you unable to look away, its rampage is set to start in Europe on February 21 for the 360, PS3 and PC, with its North American unhinging following sometime in Q1 of 2014. In addition to assuring yourself a copy of the game on launch day, pre-ordering Rambo will reward you with one of the 3-inch figurines shown above if you go through participating retailers (sorry, United States). No, you cannot just buy the figurines separately. The press release notes that while the game itself is complete, developer Teyon has begun work on "the game's first DLC expansion pack." It sounds like Rambo won't run out of targets anytime soon. [Source: Reef Entertainment]

Reef Entertainment, UK-based publisher of the upcoming Rambo: The Video Game, has announced that it intends to create a game based on the Terminator franchise, titled Terminators: The Video Game. Reef did not specify a genre, release date, or supported platforms for the game. Really, the company's announcement didn't say much, other than they recently acquired video game rights for both 1984's The Terminator and 1991's Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and that they intend to create a "high quality, authentic and exciting" game that does "great justice" to the films. That usually works out well. No word on whether Michael Biehn, who has had both good and not-so-good experiences with video games as of late, will be reprising his role as Kyle Reese, or if that other guy who's kinda famous for being in the Terminator movies will be back.

Gamescom attendees will be the first to sample Rambo: The Video Game, but in the meanwhile we all have some new screens showing off locales from each of the original trilogy, and a new teaser trailer, to check out. Rambo: The Video Game is an FPS that "matches the pace and action set-piece diversity of the films."%Gallery-161723%

  • Path to PSP, PS2 now clear for 'Free Running'

Free Running (the game) has seemingly overcome the obstacles, finding a publisher in Ubisoft and enough mainstream attention to warrant a UK release in mid-March. We first spotted Free Running in June 2005 when then publisher Eidos was showing off some footage of the Core Designs PSP title, which was also being called Parkour Freerun (note: parkour and free running are two distinct disciplines).Since that time, Core Designs was acquired by Rebellion, which eventually passed Free Running off to Reef Entertainment. Reef, now teamed with Ubisoft, has found an opportunity to finally turn out Free Running, which will also be released on PlayStation 2 (in addition to its original PSP format). The game release is timed with building commercialization of the 'free running' discipline, whose founder -- and star of the upcoming game -- Sebastien Foucan showed off some moves in the latest Bond flick Casino Royale. Ubisoft is a fitting publisher as both its Prince of Persia series and upcoming title Assassin's Creed feature elements inspired by free running. The publisher has no apparent plans to distribute Free Running outside of the UK.[Via PSP Fanboy]
