Double Fine's dress-up RPG Costume Quest 2 will launch on PS3 and PS4 next Tuesday, October 28, publisher Midnight City announced. The PlayStation versions of the game will also receive an exclusive Sackboy costume modeled after the hero of Media Molecule's popular platforming brand, LittleBigPlanet. The Sackboy costume will be available for free to PS4 and PS3 players as part of an update to the game. To unlock it, quest-goers must find four pieces of the costume tucked away in the game. While there's no set release date for the Sackboy update, it is expected to go live "in the coming weeks." Costume Quest 2 is already available to PC, Mac and Linux players via Steam for $14.99. No launch date has been announced for the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Wii U versions as of yet. [Image: Midnight City]

Hello Games revealed plans to bring Joe Danger and Joe Danger 2: The Movie to PS Vita in August, and now it is offering more details on the games' portable versions. Namely, Joe Danger 2 will include cameos in the form of three playable characters courtesy of Media Molecule. Sometime this year, players will be able to perform tricks on Joe's motorcycle using Sackboy from the LittleBigPlanet series as well as Atoi and Iota from Media Molecule's latest game, Tearaway. Joe Danger 2 will include the 15 levels originally added to the game's PS3 version in the Undead Movie Pack DLC in October 2013. Additionally, both games will include online leaderboards and will automatically download ghost racer data for players to compete with asynchronously. Joe Danger first arrived on PSN in June 2010 and both games landed on Steam in June 2013. [Image: Hello Games]

Following a LittleBigPlanet appearance by Marvel Comics' most famous characters, DC is getting into the act with the DC Comics Premium Level Pack, a DLC addition that grants Sackboy new abilities, offers new missions, and finally answers the age-old question, "Who would win in a fight: Superman or an ambulatory burlap creature?"

  • All-Stars Battle Royale ad sees PlayStation heroes fight in live action

When you think about it, this was a predictable step from the creators of last year's "Michael' commercial for PS3. After successfully expressing the thoughts of live-action PlayStation characters, this ad for PS All-Stars Battle Royale shows the time for talking is over. Maybe because the budget was blown on fancy special effects; Nolan North doesn't come cheap, you know.Though it doesn't quite match the brilliance of last year's ad, it's another imaginative and fun effort for what will hopefully be a game with similar qualities. On a side note, live-action ads seem to be the rage at the moment. Last week Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Halo 4 got their real on, and now All-Stars Battle Royale follows suit. If only Nintendo would join the club.

LittleBigPlanet Karting is accepting beta applications right this very moment. If you're interested in a PS3 Sackboy-Mario Kart-style mash-up, sign up through the PSN Beta page.Sony of course warns that not everyone will qualify for the beta, but we assume the question "Do you own a PS3?" may be one with a correct answer, while "Which of the following games have you played before?" may be more lenient.

The beta for LittleBigPlanet on Vita is gearing up, and Sony is inviting interested players to enroll in the test run right here. Sony promises "many of you" will have the opportunity to participate in the beta. The enrollment form consists of simple questions, such as "Which LittleBigPlanet games have you played before?" and asks if you've created levels in any of the LittleBigPlanet titles. It also asks, "Do you own a PS Vita?" For those looking to get in the Vita beta, we think that may be the only question with a wrong answer.

  • Media Molecule auctioning original LittleBigPlanet art for Japan relief

Media Molecule is doing its part for the Play for Japan campaign, auctioning off a few rare pieces of original concept art for LittleBigPlanet, along with signed copies of its sequel. There are four sketches up for grabs on the auction block, each of which show the evolution and development of the franchise's floppy, stitched protagonist, Sackboy. Each piece comes with a copy of LBP2 with an extremely limited edition cover slip signed by the entire Media Molecule team. Bidders can also try to grab a super rare, in-game crown costume piece for their Sackperson -- a prize usually only distributed as prizes for Media Molecule contests. If you'd like to get involved and grab a piece of LittleBigPlanet history in the process, check out Media Molecule's eBay page.

  • Australian board rates possible LittleBigPlanet spinoff

We know that Sackboy dominates whole worlds in LittleBigPlanet, but he's always stayed in the present, content to steal our dreams in modern times. We worry that may be about to change though, as the Australian Classification Board has rated "Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves" for release. Siliconera shrewdly theorizes this will be a Move-centric release, thanks to the title and Media Molecule's development partner for the project, Supermassive (the house behind Start the Party and Tumble). We're happy to see Sackboy branching out, but why would Media Molecule release yet another game when LittleBigPlanet 2 is already all of the games? What sense does that make?

  • LittleBigPlanet 2's Sackbots are ready to do your bidding

The PlayStation blog has posted a featurette on Sackbots, which are little AI versions of LittleBigPlanet 2's Sackboy (or girl). Sackbots allow you to add a lot more movement and intelligence to characters in LBP2's levels -- you can set them up to follow Sackboy around, interact with the environment, or, as the video shows, teach them to dance. And honestly, we're a little bit more excited about that last option. Yeah, it's nice to set up Lemmings-style puzzles or command an army of cute little blockheaded robots. But sometimes you just need backup for a dance party.

  • Sackboy joins the ModNation Racers

It seems United Front Games is taking more than just inspiration from Media Molecule for their upcoming "Play, Create, Share" racer. In fact, it seems to have actually kidnapped the star of LittleBigPlanet and made him bonus DLC for the PS3 version of ModNation Racers. According to the PlayStation.Blog, early copies of the game (marked with a special sticker) will include a code that unlocks Sackboy as a playable racer. Both pre-ordered copies and first-run copies purchased at retail will feature the bonus. Sony seems very eager to encourage pre-orders for the upcoming racer, as Sackboy is just the latest addition to an extensive pre-order bonus campaign. Has the tactic worked, or are you still on the fence? Check out a new trailer (featuring Sackboy!) after the break.

Just missing the opportunity to become the ideal -- and stuffed -- stocking stuffer, the first official line of LittleBigPlanet plushies is now available on Amazon.com. This two-pack bundle from Senario includes one naked Sackboy and one white Sackgirl for $20. Unfortunately, the online retailer won't have these dolls in stock until the December 30th, so you'll have to take Amazon's prohibitively pricey "One Week Ago" time-travel shipping option. • Scandalous! Buzz and Sackboy romantic rendezvous in Vienna!

It looks like some romance may be happening at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. Two popular PlayStation mascots were seen on a date in Vienna. In this shocking video (after the break), you'll see Sackboy and Buzz shamelessly holding hands, eating lunch together, and riding the wiener risenrad. We're disgusted by Buzz's actions here. Yes, Sackboy is adorable -- but he's only one year old. Just because you're a video game celebrity doesn't mean you can get away with this kind of sickening pedophilia. • Pre-order LittleBigPlanet PSP for a tank costume

Ready to start collecting Sackboy costumes all over again? Pre-ordering LittleBigPlanet for PSP at GameStop seems to be a good way to get a headstart on building a respectable LittleBigCloset. The retailer is offering a series of six outfits based on popular PlayStation franchises, including two each from Uncharted 2, MotorStorm and Killzone 2. The costumes will be e-mailed with online orders or handed out on cards with in-store purchases. One of the Killzone costumes is the tank revealed recently by LittleBigWorkshop. Hopefully, it'll be accessible for non-GameStop buyers, because we'd be heartbroken if every LBP player didn't get to run around in a lil' tank. [Thanks, Kevin!]

This seems like one of those things that, when a Sony representative sees it, it elicits a sharp forehead smack, accompanied by the following exclamation: "Why didn't I think of that?" A clever eBay user known as "thegroovygamer" recently put a lovingly crafted LittleBigPlanet pod replica on the virtual auction block. Of course, it wouldn't be an exact replica without two additional items: A DualShock 3 controller, and a little Sackboy to inhabit it.We would have bought an armful of these bundles had Sony released them in the thick of LittleBigPlanet fever last fall. Oh, heck -- we'd buy an armful now. Just throw in a few sticker sheets, and we'll get out our checkbooks.[Thanks, Corey!]

  • Upcoming LittleBigPlanet DLC to make creation more 'versatile'

Save for a few of the game's beefier DLC packs, a majority of the downloadable content for LittleBigPlanet has been purely aesthetic. Not that we mind being able to dress our Sackboys up like Cole McGrath -- but we'd prefer something that makes the already rich level creation engine just a little bit richer.Fortunately, during the Develop Conference earlier this month, Media Molecule co-founder Mark Healy announced that an upcoming piece of DLC will add "lots of exciting things that make it into more of a versatile creation tool." He didn't get any more specific than that, but added that it would make fans "very happy." Hey, if it helps our levels not look like something a six-year-old drew in Sunday school, we'll be pleased as punch.
