Toshiba refreshes pretty much every Satellite A / U / L-series ever
Toshiba aimed at the suits yesterday with the introduction of its Satellite Pro S300 and S300M, and today it's finishing things off in one fell swoop. The Satellite U405 (pictured), Satellite M305, Satellite M305D, Satellite A355, Satellite A305, Satellite L305 and Satellite L355 are all being refreshed today in order to cram in newer (read: zippier) Intel / AMD CPUs, face recognition software, USB Sleep-and-Charge ports, an eSATA combo port, built-in FM tuner and ATI Hybrid CrossFireX graphics in select models. Outside of a few expected increases in speed, capacity and capability, there's nothing here to really cheer about -- particularly if you were never hot with passion about the designs in the first place.
Toshiba intros WiMAX-packing Satellite U405-ST550W
Well, it looks like the flood of products piggybacking on the launch of Sprint's XOHM WiMAX network isn't showing any signs of letting up just yet, with Toshiba only the latest to hop on board with its new WiMAX-ready Satellite U405-ST550W laptop. That welcome connectivity addition comes in the form of what Toshiba describes as the "first ever" combined WiFi /WiMAX module, formerly codenamed "Echo Peak," which is about the only stand-out feature among the laptop's high-end but otherwise unremarkable specs, including 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, and a 13.3-inch screen with Toshiba's trademark TruBrite technology. No word on a price just yet, but it'll apparently be available "soon."

Sure, checking out the benchmarks on the Puma-based Satellite A305 is all fine and dandy, but we just know you're craving more. Right? Good. Here we have a solid foursome of AMD Puma-packed notebooks, each one from a different walk of life. As expected, details were pretty limited at the kiosk, but at least it gives us hope that these machines (or something similar) should be hitting store shelves in the not-too-terribly-distant future.
